The clarity of all NPR Music live Tiny Desk recordings is astonishing - absolutely 1st class - its become like a signature, relief in a world of over compressed audio. Refreshingly different. Excellent music on this one, and that girl has such a wonderful voice - she really can sing and has such a sweet lilting voice - very very gifted and good to hear. I absolutely love the sound of her voice, and it was captured so well here.. Everything else was excellent - that piano was sublime, all just wonderful....
@@stewiegriffin993 I have become so displeased with so much of commercial music, not the music itself but the production values that I've had to start writing and working on creating music just for myself to enjoy, and there is a trend, when artists like Ed Sheeran start out, its a lot more palatable, but with success, I guess they surrender some of these decisions to others, and I prefer to listen to their older releases where the music breathed, before they became "successful". I still hear the new music, for fun, but I cannot put it on repeat, cos it just hurts.. I hate talking about this, cos most other people I know, simply do not notice the difference. and wonder - what the heck am I talking about... Digital Audio was supposed to make things better and it does, when given the right approach as the audio in these NPR videos clearly demonstrates. Digital is not the culprit, its the abuse of digital audio that 's IMHO killed the music business - not the streaming - there really is not a whole lot of really good music in the pop scene once the songs have been through the ubiquitous compression and limiting and saturation and whatever other electronic gizmos are the current audio fashion of the day.
@@okay1904 That's why I love discovering music on Bandcamp. A lot of the content is just music that the band recorded and mixed themselves. Not that all of it is well-recorded from the start, but there are gems out there
Saw her live last night -- she's an INCREDIBLE performer, as well as a super talented vocalist. She was opening, and after her set the audience was buzzed asking about her. A bunch of us were crying (she closed her set with Thingamajig) -- it was so magical!
Miya’s vibrancy shows through so much in the way she performs. She’s come such a long way since I learned about her from the strange darling ep 😭 I feel like a proud parent
You have to appreciate how she has meticulously chosen and crafted every note she sings. Even if you don’t like her music one should acknowledge the artistry and intentions presented here.
Ye she chose every note, she wrote the fuckin song. Can't say the same about it's singing, though. If I wanted to hear a cat screeching I would watch women fight in the hood.
She's so into it, it's downright captivating, everything is so damn well perfectly recorded and mixed-- wow!! I'm a fan, chalk up another artist I'm a fan of from the TD Series!!! Thanks NPR!!!
She and k.flay are such an iconic couple their music is so different but they’re both so talented, not actually sure if they’re still together but I love them both.
If you close ur eyes, and feel, hear her words. You can meet her, get to know her, fall in love, grow old with her. Worth more than ever touching her lips
Sooo fricking good! Goosebumps! I was on the fence about her. She's had a few classic-status songs, but I thought the last album was okay and she was done. But this performance shows her better than ever. And now I'm going to give the last album another listen. :-D

Thanks so much for pointing it out. Nobody even blinks when the dynamics gets crushed.

This is my introduction to Miya Folick. Wow.
I can’t believe how airy she sounds in an uncontrolled environment. Beautiful.
Thingamajig might just be one of those "perfect songs." Miya is just fantastic.
You have got to be kidding me, mate! Let me guess... you are a so-called progressive?
First time coming across her. I think UA-cam should introduce a ''Love'' button, the like is not enough. I want to cry at how beautiful this is.
Mitski & Miya should defs collab
this came true !!!
Been listening to Miya since the strange darling ep a few years ago, so nice to see her on npr!!
Saw her live last night -- she's an INCREDIBLE performer, as well as a super talented vocalist. She was opening, and after her set the audience was buzzed asking about her. A bunch of us were crying (she closed her set with Thingamajig) -- it was so magical!

Saw her live about 3 years. ago when she opened for Foster The People, I've been following her since then and its amazing how much she's grown!
Instead of writing first, I would like to commend Tiny Desk for the amazing music they bring us.
Don't forget the sound quality! What they deliver is truly superb. One of the best studio audio I've heard on youtube.

First saw her when she toured with Kate Nash and I immediately fell in love with her music. I’m so proud to see her here 💕💕
I saw her in Denver last summer supporting Kate Nash! She’s phenomenal and deserves all the recognition she’s getting!! ❤️
She's so into it, it's downright captivating, everything is so damn well perfectly recorded and mixed-- wow!! I'm a fan, chalk up another artist I'm a fan of from the TD Series!!! Thanks NPR!!!
She sounds exactly the same here and on her albums it’s crazy
Beautiful. Intoxicating. Haunting. Simplicity at its finest.

She and k.flay are such an iconic couple their music is so different but they’re both so talented, not actually sure if they’re still together but I love them both.

This, amongst the majority of tiny desk tracks, is immense! The purity...I love...a lot!
Words don’t express the pure amount of “wow” experienced

NPR, you are doing God's work here.
If you close ur eyes, and feel, hear her words. You can meet her, get to know her, fall in love, grow old with her. Worth more than ever touching her lips
Good lord, keep it in your pants...
Can I touch your lips?
Such a beautiful performance and recording. Thanks for this
I just seen her open for Bishop Briggs and she sounds EXACTLY the same live!!
Sooo fricking good! Goosebumps! I was on the fence about her. She's had a few classic-status songs, but I thought the last album was okay and she was done. But this performance shows her better than ever. And now I'm going to give the last album another listen. :-D
Glad you guys got her on here!
Yo I researched her cause she gonna be at intersect festival in Vegas and I already know it’s gonna be an incredible experience. Wow.
We seem to live in a time when all the 'best' music isn't in the mainstream, at all.
