Carcosa I feel a bit bad for the guys in the band. I read an article and she basically said “If I feel inspired to go back, I’ll call up the guys and see if they are willing.” I guess it is what it is, she was always the star, but they made beautiful music together.
Her music just makes me tear up because the music sounds like it’s saying “good job. Good work today. You worked so hard and I’m proud of you. You earned it. *pats on back* “ that’s the vibes I get from listening to her music
I had a rollover accident on December 26, 2023 and my car was a total loss. Brittany’s cd was left in my stereo and I just heard Stay High on a TV commercial and it took me a week to remember her name so that I could find the music on her albums again. I’m so emotional right now I could cry. Thank God I’m still here alive and able to see hear and enjoy my music. ❤
she has IT, is one of the greatest of the greats, in a league with sarah vaughn, janis, ella, billie holiday, streisand, and aretha - the rare artists who make it about the MUSIC instead of trying to show off their voices

And what is much more important. She has her own style.
For a very, very long time, I've wanted to hug this woman. For around eight years, she has been the soundtrack to some of the most harrowing seasons of my life (adulthood). Absolutely dazzled by the reminder that music really can comfort us, and put words where there were just abstract emotions before.

I am not one to shout at computer screens. So far I have cried out, "You betta SING that song, girl" and a general purpose shout (twice). The talent dripping from this artist is amazing!
Vinicius de Andrade I wanna be mad every time I see a comment on someone’s tiny desk about bringing on another artist - but cannot argue with this one. WE NEED HIM
I think it's a physical impossibility, to be either sad, or motionless, while listening to Brittany sing. I can't help but smile and move to the music, every time.
Brittany is THE MOST!!!! She reminds me of Willie May "BIG MAMA" Thornton; Along with the current greats, Erykah BADU/ Jill Scott/ Angie Stone and a type of Floetry, with a unique style of Bilal. Howard is too 2 too fine. Very GLAD she is out and About!!!
I KNOW, I started nerding out a bit when I saw him. like "who is that GUY," and then I remembered it was Nate Smith, after getting a bit close to the brink of insanity. I mean.... no one around me is gonna know who Nate Smith is, like, it's a bad situation to be in....
I've never really been a fan of musicians. I've always loved music, but Brittany ... I adore her. She changed my life. She puts her whole, wonderful soul into her music. I adore this musician. What a goddess.
This woman is my favourite American singer/songwriter. I have this album and play it regularly. I discovered her through Alabama Shakes and saw them live in London a couple of years ago. She is amazing!
All Flyness! Brittany Howard is a jewel and a gift of music for us all to love. Every time i see and hear her, i just know and soulfully feel her best has yet to come!
As great as she sings and its absolutely beautiful, I cant help but to imagine if she really let go and just use that huge voice. Truthfully one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. She gives us glimpses of it and every time I get goosebumps.
This performance, even through a screen, is enough to bring me to tears. I had almost forgotten how MAGICAL real artistry and musicianship is. Thank the stars, and the UA-cam algorithm, for presenting me with exactly the medicine I needed.

As usual, NPR ruin my Spotify music experience with superior live performances recorded with amazing skill.
I felt that on a different level.
👏👏
I've listened to "Stay High" 100 times on the album. Watched this and felt like I was hearing it for the first time.
Npr just needs their own spotify.
riiiiight? so often i end liking the live version on tiny desk so much more than the recorded one
She’s gonna turn into one of our generation’s greatest songwriters. What a sense of harmony!
Gonna?
Her delivery is so captivating, I never want her sound to end. I want more more and more of her music my 16, 13, 8,6 LOOOVE HER, her BAND, sound!
@@krislyons1591I saw her live once. It was electric. Many of us were on our feet the entire concert.
This is criminally under-watched.
It should be a civic duty like voting to watch this
Agreed. Sorry for being late. But I'm gonna do my best from now on.
Britney Howard was interviewed on NPR Fresh Air so that brought me here.
the way she physically expresses herself while singing, you can really tell she puts her heart into these songs
Ikr that's so accurate
this is voice right here
A Voice, a smile, and personality, she's got it all! Brittany is beautiful!
I love your name

You DID work so hard today and you did good work and you SHOULD be proud. We should all feel that way every day if we are doing the best we can.
Same, same...going home feeling good vibes after fighting the good fight 🍥

Yes! Also Betty Carter.
Would add Marvin Gaye to the list :)
And Amy RIP
Joan Armatrading and Sade too.
“Stay High” is such a gleeful, sunny piece of art. It puts me in an incredibly peaceful place.
And she sung tf out of it
Robert Granat same. I feel better after hearing it
I just want to move there and live there forever
I love that steady steady bass fabulousness!

She sings like an angel and she can also play guitar like a badass. Love this woman.
This tiny desk concert was filthy. 😭 What a voice. What a band.
I picked up a guitar. When I was first 57. Now I'm 58. Not good. But you're still inspiring me. Thanks baby!
This lady has been a favorite from the first time i heard that big sweet. voice booming out Hoooooolllld onnnnnnn!!!
My first encounter with her was watching her sing Gimme All Your Love on Conan. Been obsessed ever since.
Not only is she an amazing singer/ songwriter, she has a huge personality. She was destined to do this
I loved Brittany the first time i heard her sing "Hold On" with "Alabama Shakes".A very talented lady.
Nate Smith (drummer) came to play. Her voice is amazing. Woke me all the way up this morning. ❤
Aww I remember her from Alabama shakes when I heard them in 2012, loved it
Yes Yes!!
The drummers ghost notes are nasty. Also his overall dynamics are outstanding
Nate Smith is a monster, man. Check him out with The Fearless Flyers, he won't disappoint.
Gotta respect a drummer who can pull it back in a small room and still lay down a groove that tight. Freaking great.
Also the bass player grooving in the pocket..
Thought the same thing. He reminds of Chris Dave.
And he's fine af.
The soul just oozes out of this woman...puts a smile on my face! ☺

shannabrown82 she really went off on that song my 1st time hearing it on the album ugh 💪🏾💪🏾
shannabrown82 That song is so unapologetically black, but not limited.
I always get chills when most of the band drops and she sings "Who slashed my daddy's tires and left a goat head in the baaaack?".
This Sister is a gift. I am so thankful she has the courage and might to be; to dwell in her purpose and passion. Give thanks!
The human body is a musical instrument and Brittany proves it.
