I should probably just master compass reading in general before I try mastering compass reading in the dark! This video just reminded me how much I don’t know about nav. More to come I hope!
Exactly my point
Nothing to it. Just head out Western Australia and have at it. What’s the worst could happen???😧😧🤣
More people need to click on this. In the world of rifles, pistols, tactical gear, land navigation is one thing too many people overlook! GPS is great, get a lensatic compass and learn how to use it.
"Learn from others" ALWAYS!
Orienteering is a skill Uncle Sam taught me, and it's come in handy quite a few times.
One thing you're gonna love Karl when I clicked on this video the commercial was Biden begging for money! One thing that changes is magnetic declination. Over forty years the GM angle has moved west 8 degrees. At least in my area. Great video thanks.
Wearing clear eyes, another great common sense video.
Glad you think so!
I loved land nav.
Great Class
Just did a day and night land navigation class with local
Private prepping students.
Then we had fun with land navigation with no map. Total fun!
CSM Chapa
Great content!
Enjoying the content.
Perfect timing! After last nights state of the union address I can now navigate to the nearest cliff and walk right off the edge of it.
The problem is no compass or gps will help us navigate thru all that 🐂💩…..
Scare off the herbivores. Comedy gold.
In keeping with the “One is None” mantra, I never go into the woods without that same model compass, a proper GPS, and my solar powered Casio watch that has a magnetic compass.
You ain't lived till you caught that stray twig in the eye!
👍😄👍!!
I veer right!
You got that right!
@@TacticalRifleman Goggles on, this ain't a movie!
reminds me of bravo 2 0 when the guy had a compass taped to the hand guard
Excellent demo and explanations, Karl. Thanks.
Nice 👍
Move videos like this would be great..!! Thanks SGM..!!!
More to come!
thank you for sharing this!! its something that i need a brushing up on!! iv got spoiled with my battery powered GPS & slacked for years now on actually using a map & compass!!!
Love this channel.
Always great info
Are we there yet?, thanks for great instructional video.
You bet!
Awesome video
Thanks for the visit
Those camenga compass are worth it when the sun drops in my opinion
AWESOME VIDEO🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
@@TacticalRifleman can you do any videos on hand-to-hand combat? There are so many fakes out there saying they teach a military method of self-defense. Thanks.
👍👍
Hey Jerry. Miss ya buddy
Shoot your direction of travel an shoot the rear azimuth write down the rear of your travel direction.
Karl, True Story for ya.. Basically, in your world, all I am is just a Burnt-out, Teir 1. Oppo in just Rescue! In a wee wee world.. The thought? of having Nodds back in those days? When all they did it under Moonlight?
Well, you’ve done it again SGM. A top tier video, outstanding presentation, real world application, and served up with some humor. Thank you TR Team. People pay big money for classes like this and pretty much all your videos. Thanks for making this world a better place. ✌️🇺🇸
Great video, SGM! Tips for picking out that distant terrain item / feature to nav toward in the total darkness?
Stars, but not for longer than 30 minutes.
They move
Magnetic north is currently over Russia, not Canada.
Great video, points too remember!!! Don't mount compasses to firearm😂 learn to read a map😢 calibrate Compass😊
And there you go ,, 🧂🧂🇺🇸
yep can't get where you need to be, you are no help. Eye pro...
Great basics video.😊
Nice 👍
Ahh, memories of night land nav during EIB testing. No 1SG, I ain't got no map!
Ah something I need to get better at. Thx!
Thank you for the video! It would be nice to see a video on practical land nav in the field. For me figuring out where I'm at once I'm lost has been tricky. Every spur and draw start looking like things on the map, very minor streams that might be dry or very low flow get overlooked as references. If I get of course I often have to pull up my GPS to find my actual fix and most of the time I wasn't where I thought i was. Granted this has made me pay more attention so i don't lose track but it does happen and I'd like to know how you deal with that or how to train those failures away
We had a guy who got lost while we were hunting. We had radios but he had nearly dead batteries and no spares. He also had a compass with no knowledge of how to use it. He asked "does the red arrow always point north?". Oh boy, this is gonna be a long day.
Herbivores 🤣😆😂
Logistics!
love land Nav...!!! Thanks Karl! I would suggest showing a quick view on lining map and compass together and magnetic north adjustments
