I ordered estrogen and testosterone blockers with money i was supposed to use for my xbox games when i was 15 lol. By 16 my mom caught me stepping out of the shower and that was bad. By that point i basically looked like a female but i hid myself under a beanie and a big hoodie

I saw a therapist for months before I could reveal my inner self. I was referred to another therapist. It took two years of repairing my unhealthy responses before she said, “have you considered hrt?” It was the best thing that ever happened. The loss of testosterone has been more powerful than estrogen. Don’t rush the process. I wanted to but am glad for each small step. I’m older but I didn’t damage my heart. Next year bottom surgery.

I have been on feminizing HRT for two years.
The physical changes are minimal. My overall appearance has not changed.
However, the mental and emotional changes are astounding. Not to mention, and overall improvement in my general health.
As happy as I am with The changes from hormone treatment, I would like there to be more physical changes. Perhaps, it’s time to approach the subject of surgery.

Just had my first gender therapy session. Still strongly considering hormones at least to see what it does to my brain. Still trying to figure out if physical transition is for me. Most of me says yes and can't wait. But I still have a considerable opposition in my mind. Great video again.

I would also say, be patient when starting the medication. Your doctor will likely start you at a small safe dose and adjust as you go until they find a right balance between delivery type, dose, and frequency. During this time, don't expect an overnight "poof" magic to happen. The most common first change is a sense of peace of mind. Once you get the dose dialed in, the changes should be gradual. There will be a moment when you look in the mirror and go "Wow! There I am!". There will be a subtle change that you can't quite put your finger on (in my experience and my endo said is common).
Pro tip: For patches, I find the upper breast area the best. Easy to place, low friction. Shaved, clean and dry skin.

Here in the UK, many of us are DIYing as the waiting lists are horrendous. It's more common to speak to a trans woman who's DIYing than seeing an endocrinologist.

I feel like most of my experience with HRT has been an exercise in perseverance. Nothing I was being recommended seemed to have much of an effect; I gave up hope a few times. It wasnt until last year that I finally found something that starting giving me the changes I wanted. 15 years after I started.

Dr, I'm agender, assigned male at birth, yet I'm transitioning to passing as a woman and would love to go for bottom surgery as I don't like the male parts of my body. Does this invalidate my agender identity? I've been on hormones for more than 10 years and I've changed my gender to female legally.

! :) Your gender identity and how you present are two different things. I’m also not fully binary, but I’m looking for the f’ marker on my passport for safety reasons. I feel like an agender core, woman social interface
You can do whatever you feel drawn to. You’re amazing! ✨

I was wondering the same thing. The best suggestion is to educate ourselves as much as possible on HRT before going to see the doc. Lots of information on the net, or try asking questions on trans forums, at support groups, etc. Ask the doctor if they've worked with other trans patients before? Go with questions and see if they can answer them with non contradictory information to what you've found yourself, or if they can explain why your understanding is only partly accurate. Do they seem to know a lot and talk about how to best approach a treatment plan, or do they seem flippant and prejudiced in any comments they make.
If you feel uncomfortable with their responses, trust your intuition and try finding someone else. Organizations for trans support may be able to recommend a good endocronologist from experience with other people going through transition. I hope it's helpful.

I’ve treated trans women and men since 1984 for back pain as a chiropractor. Females on a disproportionately high amount of testosterone are guaranteed incontinence that includes bowel incontinence; that’s uncontrollable defecation anytime, anywhere. It has to do with anatomical alterations in the pelvic floor. Kegel exercises do not help.
Also, menopause hits years early with all the same issues cisgender females get: hot flashes, irritability, etc.
As a therapist, Dr Z, while you’re encouraging patients to continue on their journey, it is yours and my duty to inform them of the many physical, emotional, and mental challenges they will confront on cross sex hormones.
Lastly, the endocrinologists I know have told me no one should be on cross sex hormones until the age of 25. The body is not fully developed until then especially the skeleton. Ossification and human neurology have usually fully matured around that age.
