- On October 17, Anthony Cumia and the Comedians of the Compound performed stand up comedy live at a minor league baseball stadium, featuring performances from Geno Bisconte, Aaron Berg, Chrissie Mayr, and many other talentless individuals (Joe Currie included). To say this was an event for the ages would be an understatement. This event had it all. From jokes falling on deaf ears, to rain delays at an all ready freezing cold outdoor venue, and the most packed stadium I've seen since Dice performed at Madison Square Garden.
From his height of fame on the Opie and Anthony show, Cumia has now gone from the majors to the minors. Unfortunately for Tony Two Shirts, these are not the minors he's accustomed to.
Knowing how well his performance at The Roast of Big Jay went over, this was an event to redeem his good name as someone who "can access funnier quicker than anyone". Let's see if Patrice's praise of Cumia still holds up today...
This video's been in the works since October 17th. There's no way this was worth the wait or effort put into it on my part. If nothing else, this video will serve to annoy people that refuse to acknowledge anything negative about Anthony, and in that way, I can say this is a success.

This stadium is like 3 miles away from my house. I was going to go in. I pulled into the parking lot and it was near empty. I sat in my car for 15 minutes like Cameron Frye deciding whether i should go in. Then all of a sudden i hear an echo from the stadium. It's was Ants voice. The place was so barren i could hear the bombs from my car. I was too embarrassed for him to walk in. I literally got douche chills. I pulled out and went to Roy Rogers instead.

Anthony's talent on radio is top notch. Stand-up is another world. He needs to be set to, fed, directed, or riffing with others.

That's why it's fair. They always railed against people who were oblivious like the old comics who never had new material and would retire in Branson, it's just sad. Just listening to the show where Opie talks about injuring his neck and the boys absolutely TEAR him apart. It's right up there with baby bird, cake stamp, danza, laci peterson, toothpick guy... This is painful to watch but I just had to finish it! 😂

Dude has a big following even a decade after he died. He was close to Burr who definitely would've put him up after he became A-list and Patrice was a legitimately brilliant and hilarious stand-up to back it up unlike O&A and Jimmy. I think Patrice would've found the success he wanted on his terms if he was still alive.

Dear Fellas. I can't believe how fast things move on the outside. I saw an automobile once when I was a kid, but now they're everywhere. The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry. The parole board got me into this halfway house called the Brewer, and a job bagging groceries at the Food-Way. It's hard work. I try to keep up, but my hands hurt most of the time. I don't think the store manager likes me very much. Sometimes after work I go to the park and feed the birds. I keep thinking Jake might just show up and say hello. But he never does. I hope wherever he is, he's doing okay and making new friends. I have trouble sleeping at night. I have -- bad dreams, like I'm falling. I wake up scared. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember where I am. Maybe I should get me a gun and rob the Food-Way, so they'd send me home. I could shoot the manager while I was at it, sort of like a bonus. I guess I'm too old for that sort of nonsense anymore. I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay. I doubt they'll kick up any fuss. Not for an old crook like me.

Ant should thank his lucky stars every day that Opie exists, because it’s the only thing keeping him from being the greatest fall from grace story ever told.
He definitely does. While he loves trashing the Opester (who doesn’t?), because of his partnership with Opie he was able to make millions upon millions of dollars to fuck around and talk for 4 hours a day. And they made A LOT of money. Ant was on WATP a couple weeks ago and those ball washers were saying that Opie’s money is probably running dry at this point but Ant knew that Opie’s doing fine financially. When you have that much money in the bank AND you’re a cheapskate, it’ll last you awhile.

@@ScottsOnTheRottenCotton I’m pretty sure Opie bought his Manhattan place shortly after the housing crisis when prices were relatively low. Considering where the market is a decade later, it has probably soared in value. Comparatively, I think Anthony is selling his house at a loss right now.
Ant was hilarious on O&A and he could still be very funny, but I can't imagine his stand up being very good after doing it for such a short time. With that being said, this was beyond any expectations I could've had. Ant wasn't just bombing, I don't even think there's a word to describe how poorly his set was going.
Ant was really funny when he was extemporaneously riffing with other people, but standup is a completely different beast all together. There's a reason why there's only a handful of comics whose standup material genuinely makes me laugh. Being a funny person does not guarantee that someone will be a good standup. Plus, this was just a horrible venue for standup comedy. The audience is 50+ ft away from the performer, the stadium is mostly empty, it's cold outside, and there's a fence separating the audience from the performer. Even the best standup comedian would struggle under those conditions.
Bombing? This was witnessing the aftermath of a napalm strike on your own men in Vietnam!

I love Ant, but he definitely deserves some criticism. Opie leads a normal life (well, a rich life) with his family, and Ant's life will only get more sad to the end, but that's the cost of being a real ass dude, Bukowski 2.0 is Ant's legacy. Opie bothers me but he seems to have a fulfilling life nowadays, he should give up social media and disappear though.

I wouldn't automatically presume Opie is happy and fulfilled especially when his streams are mostly him being a boomer with his exaggerated voice, battling haters, pretending anyone cares what he has to say unless it's O&A related, and lacking any and all self-awareness even in his 50s. If Opie was so fulfilled, he wouldn't be doing what he does, and be better off finding better hobbies less toxic than streaming on the beach and sticking to Twitter or something.

GFW wrestling held an event in Kentucky that drew 600 people. Two days later in one of the biggest cities in a minor league baseball stadium that drew twenty people with still relevant famous wrestlers. Those stadiums are a curse.
You have to have someone around to tell you what your draw is. It must be hard to gauge that from the inside. Someone has to step in and say, “This is going to be bad for you.”
