Thank you for watching my videos! This channel is dedicated to animal education and improving the lives of captive animals.
Here’s little about me!
My name is Meghan Arriola and I live in Texas with my husband Jaime, where I dedicate my time to taking care of exotic and domesticated animals on my farm. We run a rescue and sanctuary for animals like alpacas, birds and reptiles. I do animal education presentations for groups and schools. Our alpacas also do events where we are able to teach people about these unique animals. I have used service dogs for medical needs for over 10 years and I am an advocate for assistance animals and mental health awareness.
I am an animal educator that brings science related ideas to an audience from around the world by presenting fun and interesting topics in a family friendly way. Animals touch our lives in unique ways everyday as simply being our pets and companions, but how can we make their lives equally as special now that they live in captivity? My UA-cam channel and blog explore ways to meet this goal by tackling things like animal behavior, human-animal relationships and veterinary medicine. Animal science is a great way to teach people of all ages that education is fun and nerdy is cool.
My previous animal related work experience includes working in veterinary clinics, private zoos, training horses and volunteer work in wildlife rehabilitation, rescue/foster/adoption programs and therapeutic horsemanship for children with disabilities.
When I am not working with animals, I am working at the health care clinic owned by my husband Jaime and I, where we provide services to low income, minority neighborhoods. We have been on the frontlines fighting covid19. I also have a passion for art and I am an award winning painter and photographer and published author. I am naturally very introverted but I am extroverted about sharing my passions and doing my part to make the world a better place!

Fascinating. Admire your care and creativity whenever I watch these videos. Thank You for all of your knowledge!
I literally just read this verbatim on another UA-cam video.
I grew up with guineas, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, pigeons of many varieties, as well chickens and bantams and dogs. my dad kept a lot of animals!!! I had a happy childhood with all our animals.
I raised Guineafowl for 4H and my Keets were so tame they would huddle up with me to eat fresh sprouts and mealworms right from my hand, even as adults they would run to greet me when I came home from school because I always had treats. My favorite to give them was crickets because watching them scatter to grab one was the kind of fun you had as a boy on a farm in the 70s. Later as an adult, I raised exotic birds from the tiniest Finches and Button Quail all the way up to Emu, with a bunch of squawking parrots thrown in the mix. I had Tufted Guineafowl from South Africa and Reichenow’s Guineafowl from Tanzania. The ones out in my yard were West African Guineafowl the domesticated ones we see everywhere.
I've watched them dig moles out of the ground like velociraptors.
Funny that you make that observation.
Ever since we have had Guinea my son calls them the dinosaur-bird because of their heads. But when they come up to greet us when we go out in the yard that is how they come running at us like they are small raptors.
My daddy kept guineas around for the sole purpose to use as a " watchdog" if anything would dare trespass in the early morning hours they let him know . It was 12 gauge time .
The American way. Hated the world over.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 And yet, immigrants from all over the world, can't wait to earn the title: American citizen. Nice try, Karen
@@atomicwedgie8176 America is hated, feared and mocked all over the world. Zero respect, a failed experiment, a teetering, groaning kleptocracy. Rome II. Burn.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 I see you're still drunk.
@@atomicwedgie8176 I am TT you hapless see you NT.
We had two of them when I was a child in Baghdad. They didn't breed for years and suddenly they had many chicks. They are very cute.
Guinea fowls are very cute beautiful loyal bird !
Killing bugs and protecting your yard !
I remember when folks kept these in their yards. One of my Granny's friend's mother, an old black lady, let 2 guineas run free in and out of her house. Never saw a roach!
My mom had some when i was younger. I called them clown face chicken 😂
They look like fat little baby turkeys. They're cute
In Portuguese they are called “galinha de Angola” (that means Angola chicken). I worked in Angola and they were everywhere. They are very popular in Brazil and are delicious. They are the best solution to eliminate ticks on a farm. They are great watch dogs.
The Guinea's are al over my school, and the farmers near my home have a group of them
My mother absolutely loves guineas, she has raised many of them since I was tiny 😊
I love Guinness I have some
And we understand the knowledge of WAT DAT WAT DAT WAT DAT!!!!!
One of my favorite sounds of the bush in South Africa!
Ever bumped ones, causes some damage .
Guineas are the BEST!
Thank you for the video!
Very informative. They have many advantages for a farm especially where I live and we're over run with ticks. I just can't stand the noise they make though and they never seem to shut up!
Love them, in Holland we call them pearl chickens, lol! Sadly the first time i met one, was on my plate, it tasted delicious.
Honestly love to own a couple but not so i could eat them. When you see them right in front of you, you will see that they have intelligence and also the most adorable little beady eyes. And now i learned a out their tick eating habit, so they are the best fowl one can have.
I'm pencil color artist and I've coloring pencil of 6 guinea fowls picture framed and its on my wall and I made another one for my aunt.
I have raised them. These birds are so wonderful. they have potential to be great for pest management and reducing parasites in soil.
Amazing bird's and extremely intelligent. Lots of people claim they are stupid but not the case in my opinion. Pest control without insecticide.😊
tiny dinosaurs
I remember my father speaking of them from when I was a kid. I didn’t know why he wanted them but living in a city he couldn’t. Now I know why he had wished for them. Thank you.👍
We keep bush turkeys in Australia to alert us if a snake comes calling.
I didn't know any of this. Good go know.
I mostly know them as very entertaining birds. I remember a museum I visited as a kid had them freeroaming the garden. And sometimes 1 of them would just start running for no reason which will cause a chainreaction of the whole flock running for literally no reason. I as a kid couldn't stop laughing.
We had a single guinea hen gifted to us by a local farm feed store. It had escaped the enclosure and no one had been able to corner it to sell it. They said if you can catch it you can have it. That summer and the next we were virtually tick free as that little hen would venture into the field eating ticks like we eat chips!! My wife didn’t appreciate the call of the bird as it was fairly constant, she needed a flock to settle down and our chickens just never understood her!😂
Loved the video. As of right now I have a flock of around 45 guineas running with my laying hens. I could just sit and watch them all day. They are very animated! Hello from Texas!!
Hope you do a video :) They are amazing
I am in Texas, where can I buy some?
I adore these snarky, round little birds!! My guinea hen Ethel will talk back to me and scream at falling leaves, as well as keep my other hens and ducks in line. Sometimes she'll settle down enough for me to hold her but she complains if I hold her for too long
One time I was on a bike ride. I was riding down a hill and a bunch of guineafowl crossed my path. I could SWEAR that they timed their movement so that I'd hit them had I not braked
They roost during an eclipse, that's so cute, they must get confused hehe
They look like dinosaurs covered with spots 😁
I like to hatch guineas and chickens at the same time and raise them together . they are fun to watch
My favorite bird
Thank you for your information. Love them!
guinea fowl are prevelant in Malawi, kept in villages as a "very sophisticated" meat. They only cook or eat these if it is a special occasion. I have personally encountered and observed these birds in the wild and in their natural habitat. They are SO MUCH bigger when kept in captivity here, they rely on very little in their natural habitat, the ones shown in this video are much larger then the ones in Africa. But they are solitary animals in the village that I visit 2-3 times a year, my son was adopted from there as well. They are much smaller when kept in their original environment in Africa. ":)
I feel like I’d be the kind of person who gets chased down by a flock of guinea fowl ☺️. Really interesting video 😊
😂😂
Thanks!
I have bin case as a kid I use to hate them but now I want a few
Very good video and I love birds

Animal....
I love them. Such beautiful birds. They are certainly very useful. The babies are absolutely adorable. Very interesting video!
Had an aunt who raised guineas. She lived in the country about 20 miles from any neighbors. She would tell me they’re my dogs. As a small child I was very puzzled about her remark
We had guineas in the past - have seen them attack cars that blew the horn when the guineas crossed the road. They kept ticks in check. They were funny to watch.
Driving down an Alabama road last weekend when 15-20 of these ran across in front of my vehicle. Managed to get stopped.
On the way back...14-19 birds. Someone didn't stop.
I lived on a farm with a few of these birds and new nothing about them. This video was informative on all topics from history to geography thank you so much for it

How can you take that noise!? Anytime I hear them it drives me crazy 😂
They are super annoying at times! I guess you just learn to drown it out.
So very informative! My family raised Guinea in Southern Italy until they came to the US in the 1930’s.
Very informative. Love the variety of birds.

Love that background music... And you look cute too..👍
I'm calling 'FOWL' on this video.
Their big fat body’s look so pretty but their heads are tiny and vulture like. I’ve heard they are great for getting rid of wood ticks. Thanks for the info I didn’t know much about them .💜
They go after snakes, too.
Yes, we all heard that, in this video Captain Obvious.
Speaking from experience, guinea are brilliant at eating ticks, wood or deer.
