We have guineas they are pain when they get in the garden which is a lot if they see ripe fruit on anything like tomato's, pepper's, eggplant's, est they will go down the entire row and peck a hole in every rip tomato in the row so they can be a nuisance when its fruiting season if they get in your garden. But they are still great birds to have and they will kill small snakes and keep them away too I haven't seen one snake in the yard the whole year which is odd so they are doing there job along with the peacocks.
My chickens will eat snakes as well. Guineas, I have found are about the dumbest bird I ever seen. I once had a winter time flood. My entire flock of guineas went head first into the water. The chickens in with them all remained on the roost. I tried them twice, once free range and once in the chicken house. Both times all died. I'll never have guineas again. If I want a hardy guard bird, it would be White Chinese geese. Nothing ever attacked them and anybody they didn't know, they let off loud honking noises.
All Thumbs Up Every Time ! #14 We had Chinese Geese and found they liked the weeds in a garden but not the vege's we wanted so they saved us the backbreaking work of weeding the garden.
Guinea fowl are indeed from Africa, but they aren’t chickens. They belong to a different zoological family. Chickens are in the family Phasianidae. The domestic chicken is genus Gallus, species domesticus. Guinea fowl belong to the family Numididae. The helmeted guinea fowl, the species farmers usually keep, is genus Numida, species meleagris.
They can. If they do not have a good place to sleep at night they will nest in the trees. Mine have always went to bed tho. But I knew people who had them and the birds slept in the trees.
Chickens are bottomless pits I bring them into their home with food after a day of exploring however they destroy all my mulch around my plants I have 4 chickens and 4 guineas which I don’t let out afraid they will wonder off and get killed

@@dropedlow33 There are good reasons why people are not allowed to legally shoot at drones. 1) Shooting at stuff in the air is generally a bad idea. What happens if you miss the drone and hit an aircraft with people onboard? Also, everything fired into the air has to come down some place. Ever been hit in the head by a bullet falling from the sky? 2) Not every drone flying over private property is there for hostile reasons. I would sure hate to lose a $1,000 drone simply flying over someone's property on my way to my destination. 3) The solution is the continued deployment of Remote ID for drones. And enforcement of existing FAA regulations and local laws. Remote ID allows identification of the drone owner.
@@poopingandroid The FAA considers drones to be "aircraft". Do you really want to go up against a federal law - destruction of aircraft? The other point... Suppose I'm flying over your property. Have no interest in you or your property. Just flying over on my way from point A to point B. Are you really going to fire on my drone anyway? Don't get me wrong. I'm in no way defending the actions of the morons who are illegally using drones to harass Troy. Just pointing out the flaws in the thinking that you can just shoot at anything that flies over your property. There are better ways to deal with criminals who abuse the privilege of being a drone pilot.

Once our seedlings are stronger I am considering letting the guineas wander through the garden freely. They can take care of the bad bugs for us.
Guineas will also kill snakes
My chickens will do the same(Buff Orpingtons, Speckled Sussex and Jersey Giants).
I’m convinced they are better than chickens. Huge thanks.
We had guineas when I was kid. My mom would fix me two guinea eggs for breakfast which I thought was extremely cool because they were small.
aw so cool. thx for sharing the birds!! 💕👍🏼👍🏼👋🏼

Don’t be surprised if mothers lose 20 babies over night always have been poor mothers lose babies all over
thanks for this.
I love my guineas!!!!
Thanks
don't chickens also eat ticks?
They do
My guineas love ticks.

So true
Can they fly enough to get into a tree?
They can. If they do not have a good place to sleep at night they will nest in the trees. Mine have always went to bed tho. But I knew people who had them and the birds slept in the trees.
Nice birds
Hello how many times the Guinea fowl laying in the Yeah thank you 🙏 😊
Just like chickens. One egg per day. Reduced in winter.
Guinea meat is darker than chicken meat. It is good. Eggs taste similar. Are those future chicken and turkey meat birds?
I wont be eating any guineas from this bunch. Maybe in the future. The turkeys are meat, yes. The bantams are for pets.
Not eating animals is kinder.
I'm sure I heard you say that your guinea hen attacked you and put you in the hospital but I cannot find it now. Was I dreaming?
It never did happen but it sure can. I may have said something like that. They do not go limp when attacked like a chicken. They fight hard.
Will guineas eat yellow jackets?
But can't they fly over the fence?
They can but they wont.
How to start? 2or 3 thanks 🙏
I would get at least 3-6. They are herd animals. Love to stick together. Get nervous when separated.
I just got some chickens ... how many guinea can you keep together ?
I have 11.
Did you clip their wings?
No, the front yard is fenced in.
Do they lay as many eggs as chicken ?
Yes
Do you need to supplement feed or do they find all of their own feed.
They get all their own food in summer months.
they look like walking kfc to me
LOL
One big rooster scares the girls sometimes. I chase him saying "I will eat you". He does not bother me. lol
Chickens are bottomless pits I bring them into their home with food after a day of exploring however they destroy all my mulch around my plants I have 4 chickens and 4 guineas which I don’t let out afraid they will wonder off and get killed
Chickens are terrible for destroying anything you put in. Plants, mulch, whatever. We got rid of our chickens and are going with all Guineas now.
They will eat lots of tics!
Yes, very beneficial
Shotguns stop drones.
I got a couple and vacation time. When does drone season start. Love to shoot me a few to add to my electronics kit.
