Thank you for watching my videos! This channel is dedicated to animal education and improving the lives of captive animals.
    Here’s little about me!
My name is Meghan Arriola and I live in Texas with my husband Jaime, where I dedicate my time to taking care of exotic and domesticated animals on my farm. We run a rescue and sanctuary for animals like alpacas, birds and reptiles. I do animal education presentations for groups and schools. Our alpacas also do events where we are able to teach people about these unique animals. I have used service dogs for medical needs for over 10 years and I am an advocate for assistance animals and mental health awareness.
I am an animal educator that brings science related ideas to an audience from around the world by presenting fun and interesting topics in a family friendly way. Animals touch our lives in unique ways everyday as simply being our pets and companions, but how can we make their lives equally as special now that they live in captivity? My UA-cam channel and blog explore ways to meet this goal by tackling things like animal behavior, human-animal relationships and veterinary medicine. Animal science is a great way to teach people of all ages that education is fun and nerdy is cool.
My previous animal related work experience includes working in veterinary clinics, private zoos, training horses and volunteer work in wildlife rehabilitation, rescue/foster/adoption programs and therapeutic horsemanship for children with disabilities.
When I am not working with animals, I am working at the health care clinic owned by my husband Jaime and I, where we provide services to low income, minority neighborhoods. We have been on the frontlines fighting covid19. I also have a passion for art and I am an award winning painter and photographer and published author. I am naturally very introverted but I am extroverted about sharing my passions and doing my part to make the world a better place!

As long as you aren't in the city it's almost certainly legal. They are usually considered domestic animals not exotic pets, so the only issue would be laws related to noise, or that restrict all animals.

My Grandfather's family used to raise Pea Fowl back in the 1920's and 30's and I want to do that also! 🤗 I lived and worked on a farm 5 years ago in Western Colorado which had a full-grown male Peacock named Yoda.He and I became fast friends and would come running to me anytime I would call his name and when he was perched high up 30 feet from his Cottonwood tree all he would is simply glide down and land beside me! Their loud, tropical, horn-like voice takes some getting used to but soon becomes comforting!

I really love peacocks, they're so peculiar as an evolutionary study and just beautiful to behold. back when i still went to school, in the summer months there would be a pair of peacocks roaming the school area
one male one female i think
im not even sure if they were wild or domesticated or something in between but they would walk around the empty playgrounds, squawk and from time to time fly onto rooftops.
it was always a joy to see them again, such exotic and remarkable birds!

I love peafowl. When I was a little girl, one of our neighbors (in a rural country area in Arkansas) had them, along with guinea fowl, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, horses, donkeys and a few pigs and cows. He had quite a bit of property, and different barns/houses for them all. I would play with the peacocks. They actually liked playing chase. They'd chase me, then stop and rouse me to chase them. They were well behaved and allowed me to pet them and even fed them from my hands. Our area zoo had peacocks too, but they weren't as friendly as the ones at our neighbors farm.
I love to hear them call; I know that sound anywhere!

They dont make noise continuously all night. If you only have one male, he might reply to a pheasant at night. Or sound off if startled by something. If you have two, there is some competition in calls, but still not noisy all day and night. I have 18 roosters (chicken) that crow more often, but not as loud. But I enjoy all the sounds, because its not constant. (Depending on how many birds total)

I saw a peacock for the first time while vacationing in Cancun , Mexico - she was walking around the courtyard like a caretaker, lol - beautiful creature.

So I just ordered 3 chickpeas that won't be delivered until late June. I've been looking for the video on chickpeas but I just keep scanning through your hilarious commentors. Peafowl people, whether or not they have a bird, must be pretty funny folks! I enjoyed the video. thanks

I rescued a pea hen who was raomimg around an office complex in an urban area. I took her home and kept her in a large cage for two months. Now she is free on my ten acres. She is tame but I cannot pet her yet. I want to get her a companion but I don't know how to go about it. She loves peanuts and I feed her pheasant food and fruits and vegetables. She was very aggressive to my cats at first but they are getting along better now. Thanks for your help.

I use to help my neighbor when I was a kid take care of his peacocks. you are right everyone else hated the noise they made. I always loved it. reminds me of my childhood. but here in Michigan I don't remember what he would do in the winter months to help take care of them. So, Question do you need to provide straw bails or something in the winter months?
