Beautiful! While I'm not new to bread baking, the gentle reminders of the value of carefully weighing the ingredients was terrific! Kneading dough by hand is kinda magical! Everyone should try this.
Thanks Lisa, I over the years we have dipped in and out of Machine Mixing and Hand Mixing, I still get more satisfaction hands on but the hook can sometimes take over. I think if you are new to Bread making though it's essential to get the feel, don't you :o) X Steve
hi Steven I'm just getting into bread making reading watching and learning the whole technical side and understand to bread I really want to make sweet lemon buns which is why my grandpa asked me to learn there for my nana 80th birthday and her all time favourite so thankyou for this series of bread making been a great help for me your brilliant at explaining everything and so easy to understand big thumbs up 🤗
Your welcome Steve you have helped me my grandpa been a baker since a small boy his dad original owed the bakery taught my grandpa everything he knows today ...he's just a little old now to be in kitchen kneading and baking I've promised to master his sweet dough for my nana and her lemon buns watching your videos have been a inspiration for me I thankyou so much looking forward to more videos in future 😊
I love making dough & always weigh rather than use cups.. You can feel when it is ready. So theraputic & gives me a sense of satisfaction. Thank you Steve. Lovely recipe
Beautiful bread rolls my friend. I really love making breads, it's been a while since I have made rolls I'll be using this recipe. I always use grams and weigh every ingredient for accuracy.
I like to form my dough into balls by flattening the dough slightly and pull the sides into the centre then fold in half, and half again. Lastly, cup your hands and roll the dough on the surface like you did. PERFECTLY round balls! Anyways, it's really best not to cut open bread when it's still hot because it's flavour and texture still developes like it cools. Nice video though!
It's a good tip, either way, you are developing Gluten Tension in the Surface, cutting hot bread is never a great Idea, unless of course they are rolls out of the oven and you have zero discipline, like someone I know LOL
Hey Steve, wondering if you can use this for regular bread? I've been trying other recipes but I can't seem to get it right, but this seems simple enough.
Ideally I want to get to the point where I'm largely making sandwich loaves. The main thing I'm struggling with is the yeast, which usually isn't rising properly. I've either let the water cool too much, or set in too warm of an oven. Thanks for taking the time to help!
Wrap them in a Damp (not wet) Lint free cloth and just zap them in the Microwave (wrapped) for max 10 seconds.. It may work, let me know.. Or just mist them with water and reheat in the oven for max 5 minutes.. :o)
can we make same with whole wheat?? please could u guide about ovens as in wch shape is better ??? thanks for this video looking fwd fr moree 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👌🏻🤗
Pure whole wheat can be a little heavy to many of our pallets, it's not my favorite, rather you can experiment with say 10 to 20% Whole grain flours and see if you like it :o)
When I have made bread, I used a fork to mix the flour, salt, sugar, yeast water and oil. That's the ingredients I used. Then I kneaded the dough by hand. Those rolls look good.
Cheers Dwayne, I never can see the point in making a lot of hand cleaning work with starting too early but I am happy for others to do as they please, we'll stick to the less messy method eh!
Send me a few please. Would you buy the most expensive strong flour , yeast, I yet have never bought either . Do you always buy active yeast , does it matter, They looked yummy really do . 🌈
WOW, an option of 4K :D I wish my net could handle anything more than 720p, even that it struggles with at times. :''( I would love to be able to watch this in high resolution, I love my cooking videos.
I love making bread but everyone in my house is always on a diet :( these look great though! Also, could I request a video like this but with brioche? thanks :)
Window Bread.. 🙄😳 No, Seriously though, not bread requires that, it's just a way of Demonstrating that Gluten has developed but if you make bread regularly, you'll know the feel..
Steve I made these rolls and they taste great and are very soft! i.imgur.com/RokVd4c.jpg here is my first try. Also this is my first time making and bread ever and I did better then expected I think. Thank you for this series I forgot to mention that I put some melted butter on before I put them in the oven too.
Somehow, simple things like this seem to be the most satisfying. Reminds me of the days when both my grandmother and mother used to bake bread.
It does Milan, when the Children were at home Michele and I made these so often, I hope others might be inspired to.. Thank you
you're right Steve fresh baked bread is one of my very most favorite smells in the home! wish I could bottle it!
Oh yes, I suspect some supermarkets may have already bottled the smell ;o)
That crunch though when you bit into a roll. ❤️
Super Crispy and Fresh, It's so nice when it's like that, Thanks ;o)

What sort of bread are you wanting to make Furgie? Try the Roll bread recipe I made a week or two back.

Hi Steve, made these yesterday, they were lovely. but I forgot to stick them in the freezer. how can I revive them, to use today?

Can I use this recipe to make a hamburger roll? Obviously I would have to shape it differently to get a flatter bigger bread roll.
I would use these or These ua-cam.com/video/vQgbMcvhT_Q/v-deo.html for HB every time :)
Ok, thank you very much.
Can I use self raising flour for this recipe?
No, that is Plain Flour with Baking Powder added, not good for rolls.
yummy yummy
In my Tummy :o)
Lol
Send me a few please. Would you buy the most expensive strong flour , yeast, I yet have never bought either .
Do you always buy active yeast , does it matter, They looked yummy really do . 🌈
I tend to think good flour produces nicer tasting rolls and often the best flour is not so expensive Rita :o)
What about the sour dough for bread ,or did I miss it ?
That'll be coming but later in the series. It takes a while for some to make it.
WOW, an option of 4K :D I wish my net could handle anything more than 720p, even that it struggles with at times. :''( I would love to be able to watch this in high resolution, I love my cooking videos.
Hi guys I hope you are both doing well and staying safe I just missed you I think

Steve
Hi, Steve. Those bread rolls look really yummy. What's the best way to get the best pasta from Italy? Have a good day, Steve. Tell Angie I said hi. :)
The best Pasta comes from great eggs Byron, almost always the egg quality maketh the Pasta, that and good flour. Will do.
Angie Says Hi.. LOL
I can’t find your bread recipes written out (don’t see them on your website), nor the reason why you use bread flour. Can you direct me to them?
how about some recipies with pressure cooker
I haven't got one at the moment Jasper but there are a fair few on my Channel already. I might do more if I get one :o)
Steve
i got one today
looks good!! But how long are these beauties gonna last? Not that I think they gonna survive a hungry familie but what if?
Same as any bread, they last a day or so at peak and go down hill fast, but they also freeze well for storing.
which bread requires a window pane test????
Window Bread.. 🙄😳 No, Seriously though, not bread requires that, it's just a way of Demonstrating that Gluten has developed but if you make bread regularly, you'll know the feel..
Steve I made these rolls and they taste great and are very soft! i.imgur.com/RokVd4c.jpg here is my first try.
