"If we're faking videos, why can't we fake this one?!" that broke me. Poor guy. Listening to the emotion as he's recounting everything made me cry. I feel this may have been the first time he's really said it all out loud from his POV and tried to keep it light by masking with humor, but he was near tears the whole time. When I saw the video title show up somewhere on my feed however long ago, I thought the video HAD to be fake in some way. It had to be, because solitary confinement/the whiteroom technique is an extremely well known form of /torture/ - so obviously this would never be just straight up locking a guy in a room for 30 days, right? Right??

Like the mature reaction to hearing that someone you have no connection to dislikes you is to shrug it off and ignore it, or maybe make a lighthearted joke about it and then move on. Not write a public essay bragging about what a good person you are.

Sleep masks exist🤦‍♀️ the fact they never once considered any of these minor details (sleep mask if they’re gonna keep the lights on, appliances that are low maintenance, or at the very least useful) is what tells me they couldn’t have cared less about him.
But what’s worse is the fact that you KNOW they’d never have allowed so many discrepancies if it were a video with “civilians” or everyday people in it. They treated him the way they viewed him, as a cog in their machine & if he won’t tick exactly how they want him to, then they’ll replace him.

"Fun" fact- at some point the sleep mask will do nothing for you if you are in perpetual light because it's not only your eyes that are reacting on the light but your skin, the whole body, plenty of hormonal stuff gets messed up when your body is exposed to light

    • @BluesMoth64
      @BluesMoth64 2 місяці тому +12

Partially the thing about having the lights off would’ve been about having a consistent passage of time. When you’re living in a white box and you have no clocks, no phone, and the lights never go off, after enough time it all starts to blur together, and you can’t tell how long you’ve been in there, or how long you have left. Who knows if that shower was ten minutes or half an hour? Was your sleep eight hours or three?

The curtains in the showers were easily something you could have used to strangle yourself. Hell, I found access to a bathtub and a whole bunch of towels.
Fast forward a few years later to a ward that actually cared. I asked for my razor and they go "for your face? Okay give us five minutes to get someone to watch you..." and I'm like... That's actually exactly what I would need to take care of my disabled mum, I'm desperately looking for ways to afford a bungalow so she can live in an accessible home and there's no way for me to afford one anywhere near where I work so I could get to work easily. I could do a 2-3 hour drive away. But not here. So I can't be with her. So I can't take care of her. If I had 300k, I'd suddenly be able to afford a bungalow within 30 minutes from my work place and where I stay during work. So I'd be able to live with mum nearby and take care of her. It infuriates me how people dismiss Jake's experience as, "He could have left whenever he wanted!" He was Mr. Beast's employee, and they were all guilting and pressuring him to continue or risk wasting all the money they had spent already. It was a blatant abuse of power, and imbalance of power. An employee is far less likely to tell their boss, "No," especially when they're scared of the consequences of ruining the shoot and wasting money. Add to that his diminished mental faculties after being sleep deprived, and I'm not surprised he stayed as long as he did.

Second- A platform wants to be good to it's sponsors, providing them the best benefit while the customer benefit becomes worse.
Third- A platform wants to be good to itself, providing itself the best benefit while both the customer and the sponsor benefit becomes worse.

It's happening with products, too, including medical products, planes, etc. It's fucking scary on that front. It's better to be fast than correct/high quality if a company is publicly traded. Appease the shareholders short-term instead of ensuring stable businesses and markets.
Who cares if we have random shit added to our food or introduce a new drug without adequate safety testing? It's fine! (It's so not fine.)
Fuck greed. We really need a better balance. It's so hard to stand in the way of management's money to do the right thing. It's so normalized to just keep going and shut up that when you call out a problem, you become the problem.

I have severe hypothyroidism and one of the big things is brain fog
I have agreed to doing things that would physically harm me because I was pressured to while I was out of it. Brain fog literally feels like your view narrows to just the things you touch or focus really hard on. And sometimes people talking can fade out a bit and its like the world muted suddenly.
Its SO disorienting and its so easy to be taken advantage of in those moments. Ive been convinced to take mystery medication.
I later found out it was like, max strength Ritalin which is extra awful because hypothyroidism means you dont heal and that Ritalin had me on the edge of a heart attack because guess what?
My family had convinced a doc I had ADHD but I dont have it. I had been JUST telling the doc how sick I felt on the meds but my family insisted that I just needed a higher dosage. And a higher dosage. And higher. Because my grades hadnt magically fixed themselves while I sit shaking uncontrollably in class hyperventilating.
You are not in your right mind when you lose track of the days and especially if you dont sleep during that. And yes, you will sometimes nod along to extending your torture.

Mr Beast is a POS, and I will not watch him anymore, nor will my kids. Money can never undo trauma, but it sure nice to people suffer consequences rather than skate on by unscathed. I’ve seen videos rehashing all the drama with Jimmy but they all talk about it like it’s some crazy drama but i feel like more people need to treat it like you; you’re very intense and passionate about this kind of issue. make ‘em afraid to even think about something like this.

idk how people didn’t see mr. beast obviously exploiting people desperate for money with intense challenges and filming them. it’s sickening and people got so triggered when it was pointed out. glad people are waking tf up

I always thought his main audience was composed of children or young teens

That sentence he said about faking videos, but why not this one to just turn off the lights. That hit hard. I have trauma around darkness, so for something like this to be used for clicks, is terrible. Jimmy abused the system and targeted his vulnerabilities y'all . This is disgusting. Thank you for sharing this because I thought the vibes felt fake like just putting on a show, not fake meaning producers ask you to show this emotion. I will be making sure I'm not subbed nor is my child watching his shit. Y'all probably know this, but research shows 12 hours in solitary confinement alone can cause irreversible psychological damage. I would say go watch the actual one but don't, he actually brings in science and, makes it way better for himself..... And he still was messed up about it.

This is sas because my son absolutely truly believed that Mrbeast was a good guy. I figured something was off but now hes heartbroken because of the stuff coming out. And im keeping him safe by keeping him out of Mrbeasts drama.
