Exactly. That's why Black Mass with Johnny Depp looking like a vampire instead of Whitey Bulger, because they tried too hard with the makeup and appearance, was less fun to watch for me.
Jamie B Depp did an amazing job at acting just like him. And the dark eyes was actually accurate because when he was in prison they gave him a crazy ass ridiculous amount of LSD for experimentation back at that time. Prisoners could partake in LSD experiments in exchange for lesser time, and Whitey did that, and he consumed an incredible amount of LSD, and because of that his eyes were dark dark black.
@@HollandDamien spot on. They were so wrapped up in turning Depp into a clone of Whitey Bulger I think it became a distraction and they lost focus on making a good quality movie.
Kuklinski was a serious psycho. But the idea that he was a good husband and father is a myth. His ex has always tried to sell that story, but his kids say he was a terrifying monster all the time. They were scared to death of him. He was every bit as abusive as you'd expect.
Sometimes being overprotective of kids can cause them to be terrified of you even if you have never abused them. Trauma comes in many different forms. Kinda like robert dinero and his daughter in the irishman. Grocery story owner slaps daughters hand cuz she accidentally tipped over some merchandise and when her father (dinero) hears about it he takes daughter to the store to confront the man and beats the shit out of the man for disrespecting his daughter. Most people will salute him for what hes done but the daughter saw things differently and from there on was terrified of him and kept a distance from him as she thought he was a monster. Nobody knows the truth about kuklinskis relationship with his daughters or wife except them so its easy to assume things from our pov
You end up this way if you accumulate enough trauma in your life. Something inside you suddenly snaps and you’re no longer someone who gives a shit anymore. The phrase “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is bull shit. When you go through some terrible shit that changes you and no one is around to give a single fuck about you you’ll inevitably end up a killer.
