  • Movie Description - A father becomes worried when a local gangster befriends his son in the Bronx in the 1960s.
    The Bronx, New York, 1960. 9-year-old Calogero grows up admiring and fascinated by the local mob boss, Sonny. Calogero's father, Lorenzo, wants to have nothing to do with the mob and does his best to keep his son away from Sonny and mob business. However, it may prove a losing battle.
    One man lives in the neighborhood, another man owns it. A devoted father battles the local crime boss for the life of his son.
    A Bronx Tale is a 1993 American coming-of-age crime drama film directed by and starring Robert De Niro in his directorial debut and produced by Jane Rosenthal, adapted from Chazz Palminteri's 1989 play of the same name. It tells the coming of age story of an Italian-American boy, Calogero, who, after encountering a local Mafia boss, is torn between the temptations of organized crime and the values of his honest, hardworking father, as well as racial tensions in his community.

    Fun Fact - At 0:17 you can see a police officer blocking off the public as they watch the scene being filmed
    Oh and that isn’t Rob Schneider by the way, all the bikers are actually Hell’s Angels members
    AFTER SERIOUS DEBATE: According to google ‘Youse’ is the correct way to spell, you commenters were right. It’s a common New York term and it’s spelt like that, not like “you’s” as most people would spell it.

      @Steve Lyons don’t sound so pious. The land you live on was is stolen and built off the blood, sweat and tears of indigenous people and African slaves. The atrocities committed are considered war (crimes) today and your forefathers were deemed traitors by the British. And I know, I know, “That was a long time ago” right? But you still benefit off these crimes against humanity and the world power (The British Empire) at the time. Point is, everybody does some dirt or excepts the benefits of it. Those Italians may be “criminals”, but they minded their own for the most part and didn’t go to other neighborhoods busting up bars.

    Reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in the mid-fifties, only less urban. Lower working class. None of our fathers had any real education. The Depression and WW2 service was their real schooling. Our world was 1/13th of a mile long with five side streets. Every one was of Italian extraction. No one ever ventured out of our little world.
    Growing up I had the best friends a kid could ever had. We all stuck together thru thick and thin. Had more fun and adventures than you could imagine. As we became young teenagers we formed our gang, the Hawks. God forbid anyone outside our gang tried to mess with us. We would fight them in a minute. We would protect the weaker kids from any harm from outside intruders. Our baseball team was the terror of the city. If we lost the game, we certainly would win the fight after the game was over. Phenomenal times with buddies.
    Then something unforeseen happened. After finishing the Sixth grade at neighborhood school, we actually walked home for lunch , we were shipped were bussed to the big, in our eyes, to the junior high school. It was like being transported to another planet. We felt so out of place in this strange new world. It was very intimidating, but over time some of us began making friends with our classmates from other areas of the city. Sports was our gateway to assimilation into the mainstream. We began to get invited to parties being held by “cool” kids. We started dressing like them, preppy of course, and started dating girls from families of means.
    We cleaned up our act. We became captains of the sports teams, class officers, student council members. We actually began dreaming of going to college. Dreams some of our parents had but dreams they stayed because of lack of money and lost youth.
    Some of our old buddies called us traitors and busted our chops, but by then we had very little in common with them. We couldn’t go back we saw a future out side of our little village, they didn’t. We graduated in 1964-65. Off to college and a life that we never could envision as kids growing up little Italian American enclave.
    Married a preppy Wasp, college sweet heart of course and never looked back!
    As I look back I will never have friend’s like my old childhood friends. God we had so much fun!

      It's a movie it's fiction even if it's based off of reality. It's still fiction. In reality Sonny would have probably been stabbed when he locked the door because no biker gang who comes into a bar and looking to trash the place isn't going to stand there looking dumbfounded because some guy locked a door and said "Now yous can't leave". I grew up around bikers.

    • @ZargonUSA
      @ZargonUSA Рік тому

      @@WhiteSupreme Well, I guess you don't know that "real" bikers called 'Hells Angels' are not as rough and tough as they're made out to be, they can be if provoked, but they DON'T and NEVER will go out their way looking for trouble, even though they look and sound badass, they're really soft as crap and will even help the elderly and disabled if need be, I know, I used to be a member of a chapter in the UK. Bar fights? I've been in a few, they have their own laws, and yes they do abide by local laws too, not like the trouble making so called 'bikers' here in the US and other places, for example, you NEVER come on to a bikers ol' lady, or even rape one, if you do, then be prepared to suffer the consequences, especially if you rape one, the guys stay out of it and watch as every woman beats you silly.
      So, the so called 'bikers' you associated with actually give the REAL Hells Angels a bad reputation and name, and that's why when a chapter of real Hells Angels ride into town, everyone either hides or calls the cops, hence the reason why most chapters have their own bar, and meeting places, and a chapter of REAL Hells Angels wouldn't ride into town just to trash the place and cause trouble, they are the same as anybody else, and can even be polite, what if they changed their clothes to suits and ties, shaved , and hiding their bikes, before going into a bar, and still get drunk and rowdy, would you still call them trouble makers? If yes, then you can call EVERYBODY that goes to a bar a trouble maker.
