Piro Man it’s not much more expensive than say Amazon. It’s really worth it for the amount of options to choose from plus the ability to choose bundle packs of varied thicknesses. I did have to pay for shipping. So far the foam has been really great. www.sksprops.com/hdfoam
I have been a fan of SKS Props for quite some time and their foam is absolutely the best! Steve Smith is such an amazing artist and the stuff he creates is always fantastic. A little daunting because he is so good at his craft, it's sometimes hard to come close. He and Scott Pope make an incredible team. So happy they got a partnership with Blick Art to help the cosplay community discover their incredible foam products.
Thanks everyone for all of the amazing support!!! If interested you can see more of my fabrication work and info on HD-Foam at www.SKSProps.com also be sure to follow my UA-cam channel for cosplay tips and tricks!
I'm so glad to see Steve's progress and success with his foam and creations! He manages to turn cosplay from science or engineering into pure art, which is always to amazing to watch.
So cool!! That armor is amazing. Having seen SKS props in person, they’re just incredibly impressive. The foam is fantastic. And Scott and Steve are good people.
So my wife and I have always wanted to get into some cosplay, and this looks like it might be a nice low barrier to start with. All we have is knives and glue. No work bench, heat guns, laser cutters or vacuum formers. But this looks like we could start small with what we have.
I wanted to make sure that my foam line was great for professionals but also had a user friendly quality for people that are just getting into the hobby.
That armor is awesome, but they did something that a lot of people do and it makes it look less real. I don't know why when there's horns on a costume, people paint them to almost match the color of the metal/armor parts because they shouldn't be that color. They should be painted more of an off-white ivory to beige color to make them stand out and look more real.
micah fuller in person they look much more white. The camera white balance took a lot of it away. Also, it was built in 10 days from concept to finish. Trust me, we would have loved to put way more into it! (That’s me in the armor).
at the end there where the cosplayer in the armour is talking about is experiences of running into people at cons and not taking costume damage reminds me of pax aus in my sister of battle costume where i'd have people run into me or i'd accidentally bump into them and then would immediately check they were okay partly because the armour took no damage
Sister Lilia's Armoury I got “bumped” into by so many people in that armor at NYCC I was constantly making sure they were ok. I knew the armor would be fine but there’s foam spikes all over it!
So, I'm currently working on a cosplay, where one of the conditions was that everything was to be made out of metal. I wanted it to *be heavy* and actually have that element of immersion. BUT! On the cosplay I'm working on, it has horns... horns are hard enough with regular materials but with metal I don't see it working out well, if at all, so I've essentially given up on making the horns out of metal, and instead making a metal cone-like shape, and then using this clay foam stuff to give it all the details and more organic feel. It will save me hours and seems like it would be actually fun (when compared to the agonizing pain that I've done trying to re-create life-like horns with metal... it did not look bad, but it was far from pretty).
Wow this is awesome! Definitely going to be getting some of this for some costumes and props! I'm surprised at how inexpensive it is! Really makes this doable... I was expecting that puddy foam to be like $60 but it's under $20!
The details that they are able to get out of foam is unreal!! Loved seeing this and meeting these guys!
Uncle Jessy thanks man!
I’m using HD foam on my current build for a commission. It is really great. It’s easy to sand and form. Seriously it’s a good product.
is it more expensive in complaisance with a normal foam?

I'd love to see you build with this adam, try create something random and see how far you can push the foam.
Agreed!
They just might have some headed their way :)
@@SKSProps I am more than excited to see how this turns out. Might grab some myself and give some small projects a try
I would like to see Adam use the foam clay.
I might have sent some their way :)
One day build! 🙌

Yep! Foam is great, you can do as lot with it. Check out eviltedsmith here on you tube. He's got tons of beginner tutorials.

@@wildkarde2406 Yeah it's crazy how much it looks like it almost matches the armor itself. Like I said, it looks awesome though no matter what.

I wanted the product to be good quality but still affordable for everyone
Wonder when it'll be available in the UK?
Just so happens I follow them on Instagram and here they are. Nice!
Thanks for following
Could you try making The Expanse style power armor with this stuff maybe?
Not a cosplayer, but this makes me want to give it a try :) nice work on the armour!
Looks like a ring wraith and sorron mix. Look awesome
Things just get better and better....

Is it better than tnt cosplay's foan
Crazyhart Personal preference really. You’d have to try both and decide for yourself. Either one is better than floor mats 😉
