Fantastic shed, you will regret not having the curb, the straw feeders put a slant in them, panel or steel sheet and as the cattle eat it will fall towards them. water pipes look vunerable to scraper hitting them. Never easy building new and getting it all right. plus costs usually get out of control. like you said thousand times better. great video
You will learn lots with the new Coo Palace so when you biuld the next one it will be perfect 😊😊😊. Great to see Betty knows how to get out of the way of the cows in the new shed 😊
Outstanding shed, really interesting see the process..........a video of u cleaning it would be very interesting whenever it comes to it! Thanks for the effort u put into ur videos
I was waiting impatiently for this move to be finished, to reflect on my own moving last month... planning ahead definitely pays off, but there's always so much you only notice after you've been in a place for a bit. I'd hold off on filling the pipes for the water troughs with sand, because when there's inevitably a burst because a cow's been too curious you'd really have a hassle of needing to dig it out for repairs. Instead I'd recommend doing something like filling a bag with expanding foam and stuffing that in the top of the pipe. Once it hardens it gives you a nice plug at the top that is still easy to get through for repairs; and you can still pour some cement or plaster on top to prevent the cows from getting at the foam.
Will be great shed when all the other problems are fixed should definitely close up the bull pens to stop straw getting wet all you need now is a straw blower and feed mixer to mix feed for the cows
If there was some concrete blocks beneath the water troughs, metal straps between the blocks to tie in and protect the pipe. With no curb, the bed will creep into the passage and can get a lot of pressure on a corner of the bucket. Probably not much of an issue with your bigger machinery. Well planned shed, hopefully the teething issues can be left to turnout 🤞
Would look at a precast kerb or panel Crawford as timber will just bend and rot with the adle. Your water troughs look similar to the one's in at ABP, hope they don't give you the same trouble.
Isnt the cow Photosensitive ie, sensitive to light. (Got terrible skin burns pulling parsnips that had gone to seed) The shed looks great, fantastic light shows the difference shuttling between sheds.
Congratulations on the neww shed. Looks like a huge step in the right direction for the cattle. Was going to ask what you were planning on for feeding, as the 'bunkers' don't look like there's enough space for 25 cows in each pen and you've obviously installed head yokes along the scrap passage for feeding. ass you don't currently have a mixer, do you plan to get on in the future to mix rations? I would of thought a timber rail between the scap passage and bedding area (either between posts or on the scrap side) would make mucking out much simpler. As you say, it would give you a straight edge to run along with the bucket. Are you looking at a scrapper tractor/blade or just planning to use the JCB bucket (is it manouvrable enough to get into the pens)?
I always look forward to your videos. Why not just fill the duct “water sleeves” with builders fixer foam? It’s cheap (big plus for a Scotsman 😅), dead easy to put in and does the job.
Your 100% right with that statement....£700 to keep a cow for a year, average of £1000 for a 6-8 month old calf....nothing left for me,just keeping vets, feed mills and markets in business 🤔!
Great shed but a new milking parlour would have been a much better investment, since this new shed is open plan in design it could be converted to a cubicle shed for dairy cows.
So what’s the alternative? Sell all the cows and buy in beef for the Farmshop? This is a 20+ year investment. This will be used until Crawford retires or longer. Negative farming won’t help the industry move forward.
I reckon you need that other Yorkshire board to keep the rain out, never mind the wind.

You could do with a straw blower , excellent shed 😊
Shed looks like dream!! Great design.
Those cattle will definitely find a way of getting through that barrier.
Fantastic big shed. I see a few puddles, you might need a few more concrete panels to raise up the walls and keep the weather out.
You will learn lots with the new Coo Palace so when you biuld the next one it will be perfect 😊😊😊.
Great to see Betty knows how to get out of the way of the cows in the new shed 😊
Nice job done on the new shed 👏 👍 all you need now is another 50 cow's to fill it 😅😅 best of luck with it hope all goes well for you with it
You should buy a noco boost battery starter. It starts big egines and the brilliant thing with it its thats it is portable

Fantastic shed and once a few gremlins are sorted out be a great asset to the cattle side of the farming empire
Great video Crawford happy man to get the cows in I see a lot of water you might have to put up the boarding sooner than you thought 👌
Nice shed and great video
i liked how your dad closed the door to shed when loading the cows. didn't want them on neighbours field again.
:) sensible man… unlike his son
Put storm blinds in they help alot

Good video i think the cowss will like their new palace🙂

You will always find stuff you can add or takeaway from the new shed
I like your new cow shed
Are you going to get a straw blower for new shed love the channel
If the cows are so curious can't toys keep the somewhat entertained? So the smash fewer hoses and fittings.
Buy yourself a late Christmas present in the form of a jump pack e.g a topdon, I have one and i adore it, makes jump leads obsolete
Not, if you don’t keep it charged!
Like the shed will you not get a feeder wagon and feed them through the feed passage ?
Shed is looking great. Hope the cows appreciate hour efforts. What’s happening with the Defender?
How wide is the main feed passage
Have u channels for the scrapped passage, or where’s that gutter going to go?
Find shed Crawford,go the whole hog and buy a trailed straw chopper
Epic video

Aye she got a dose of it a few months ago, all good now just one bare patch left
8:01 put a bull in with them end of January start of February and they calf in November December

Wooden batten will bow with the straw etc pushing against it. Maybe could get shallow concrete panels.
3.2m sleepers would work for scrape pass
I always look forward to your videos.

The cows would probably eat it.
@@texkenny759 Not a chance, it set like concrete.
All the trades out on the 2nd wouldn't have been a very cheap day
recomendations for work experience in the industry near edinburgh?
Better to soak bales the night/day before with the potale
Are the lights on a timer ?
How are u gonna scrape the scrape passages by hand or u got somin for the handler
Forklift bucket 👍🏼
Tremendous shed when do you think it will pay for itself
Your a brave man making what must be a huge investment for suckler cows, the least profitable farming enterprise 😬
Your 100% right with that statement....£700 to keep a cow for a year, average of £1000 for a 6-8 month old calf....nothing left for me,just keeping vets, feed mills and markets in business 🤔!

I reckon you’ll be sleeping in there soon, you love it that much.
