Hey I just discovered your channel, I appreciate your craftsmanship and ability to teach. Full disclosure, I came across your... Public Service Announcement safety video, and I want to say it takes a genuine person to highlight a mistake to keep others safe.
In order to not go crazy with covid, I started restoring hand planes and other wood working tools. I am a few years deep and ended up having enough planes/chisels/saws that I decided to try some woodworking. I am a lot better at tool working than wood working lol.
I definitely understand that I am too clumsey to own a circular or table saw, and too irresponsible for a sports bike, so hand tools only for me for now.
No pressure here at all for a "yes" or a response.
I saw what you did for that woodshop class and I think its awesome. I wanted to pay it forward and offer to restore a hand tool for you, if youre interested. Unless it is impossible, I keep everything original and flatten/de-rust and protect/sharpen/tune up/polish the sole/blade/cap-iron/frog/lever cap to make it run like a top. I can also modernize parts if you'd prefer. I'd likely leave the tote for you to finish in your prefered way. Happy to provide an informal portfolio/collateral/whatever makes you feel safe about trusting me with a tool.
If you have an old hand plane, a couple chisels/hammers, an axe or any tool rusting/collecting dust, I'd love to preserve it and tune it up for you so you can eventually pass it down to someone. The rustier the better.

Hahaha yeah I had to jump on the french cleat bandwagon at some point its a great system and now I know why so many woodworkers like it so much

@@ShepherdsWorkbench yep, especially in a small shop, you will see everything at eye level...well at least for me! Got a few things I'm building in between videos and other builds
