NATO expansion is the prime reason for this war.
Putin's constant attack on the neighbouring countries is the prime reason for this, they would not have joined Nato. Anyway it just give china the chance to attack on Ladakh and Taiwan, anyway Russian always supported China than India.

Ukraine was the country where democracy prevailed and they can choose to be a part of NATO to defend themselves. There is lot of explain, but better you read the history yourself.
