  • This episode of The Awakening Angler Presents has Capt Mike Yarema of i1baits, Capt Tony Buffa, and I out for a fun fishing day filled with tips, insights, big fish and laughs.
I’ve known and worked for Tony on his Charter Boat that was docked in Oswego since 1995. He was the first Captain to give me a chance as a mate. This video really showcases some classic Tony teaching and historical insight moments.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did being there and making it.

I love the scene with the fish on a spinner, you hear him say something under his breath and then he feeds that fish the tip as he drops it right to him, waits for what seems like an eternity and then calmly sticks him with one short movement. it was as picture perfect as it gets. rewatch it and tell me what you think

I pulled a 6 pound largemouth through the ice a year or two ago on Oneida. Haven’t caught a massive Walleye there yet but I’m hoping one day.

I shared the slip with Tony all last week. I'm glad to be home, but I miss my girlfriend Oneida.

What is Tony tipping that spinner rig with? Also is using a slip weight if a trolling sinkers with itm?

That gold hook worm and split shot is a killer way to catch on oneida, been doing that for ever now

I sent Captain Tony my deposit last night for a trip later this month. I attended one of his seminars at Fredon's in Syracuse about 20 or 25 years ago and used what I learned there to significantly increase the number of walleyes I caught. Back then, he liked red hooks and a worm and that works well. Now, I'm hoping the weather is half way decent on the day of our charter.

I remember going to Feedons and Mulligans too with my Gramp and seeing Tony's presentation at the Sportsman's Show in the Center of Progress Building

One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. And one of the few charter captains willing to teach you how to catch fish as opposed to the captains who practice the “hook ‘em and hand it off” method. B

I had a great six hours with Tony, Eric Wisniewski and 2 other guys in June on a walleye scouting mission. We had a great time! Tony, is one of a kind and still doing what he loves! 👍

@@TheAwakeningAngler Absolutely! I learned a trick from Tony before we put our first trolling line out. I have had 4 different charters scheduled with Tony for me, my kids and grandkids. All were canceled either by weather or a bad bite timing. Tony didn't want me to have a bad trip. That's the type of man he is. Our next one is scheduled for May 20th 2023. We'll see. I think he felt bad for me. I was a little intimidated going with Eric Wisniewski, Tony and a couple of his friends. Trolling was a bust. Once we started jigging. I ended with 3 keepers. We ended with 7 total. Great time. Tony was giving me tips on reading the sonar. This is only the 2nd season that I've had one. I so want to get this 3 generation charter done with Tony before he stops guiding.
