I fish Ontario regularly out by Ft. Niagara where the Lower Niagara empties into the Lake...dropshots/swimbaits worked great there all season UP UNTIL recently where I've found that the bass are getting "picky" and no longer hitting most plastics, regardless of color choice. I was out a few days ago throwing blade baits (I often hook a walleye or two on blades near the drop-off zone of the Lower emptying into Lake Ontario) and hooked a few small gobies on the blade. Used the gobies as bait on my dropshot rig and boom the bass would hit them immediately...caught a 4.12 pounder first cast. I don't ever fish with live bait but might have to bite the bullet considering I'm taking some coworkers out this week. What depth are you fishing those jerk baits? I generally don't fish jerk baits based on my "cast far from boat" and fish deep methods I've always used, so I'm curious as to how you're fishing those. Thanks! (I'm also NOT complaining about this weather and I've noticed the same...I'm generally one of the FEW boats out on the water!)

Matt , thanks a lot. I have the same question if thegoby’s are hitting my bait there can’t be a bass around but then later in the drift I catch one so maybe just a longer drop shot don’t know for sure lol i’m on day three with my scope up until then I just drifted all day. Good luck.

I worked on a project about 10 to 12 years ago that required proofing hydroacoustics with gill net and pelagic trawl catches off nine mile point just east of the Fitzpatrick plant and I’ll never forget the size of some of those smallmouth! Absolute trophies out there!

State record 36lb fresh water drum caught in Oneida Lake in 2017. Sheep's are an awesome fight

I was fishing very close to that location this morning, I spun around the bay just East of messenger bay. We had a few short walleye and a nice sheepie. all on crawler harness orange.

Matt I use 90% isopropyl alcohol and Gojo hand cleaner with pumice pour the alcohol on a paper towel wipe the spots gently you can hold it on there for a few minutes after that put the Gojo on it and let it dry. It always kills the itch for me. takes a week, but it shouldn’t itch ,do it especially as soon as you get out of the shower good luck with the boat love my smoker craft

Hahaha. I had to chuckle this morning. Remember last Saturday when you posted a video about appreciating just being out on the water and life’s purpose? Well it struck a cord man. (I had been thinking about it too) Last week I went out to Krenzer Marine and bought that 210 Mariner you mentioned today. I guess indirectly you get an assist on the sale. I didn’t know you were tied to Krenzer’s like that. When you mentioned that boat today, I just laughed. I’m sure they’ll get another one… hahaha.

I've been going out of there every time we get an east - southeast wind. It's been pretty good.

Get your wife some orange fast hand cleaner, it’s the only product that actually helps with the itch in my experience
