  • Join Josh & Steve as they head north to Oneida Lake in search of safe ice. They hit the hard water for some Walleye and a few surprises as well. Some brutal weather made it rough, but they managed to pick up a couple keepers! Please like & subscribe if you enjoyed... My first ice fishing trip on Oneida Lake 1955 with my uncle and 1 pint of ginger brandy, I was a 17 year old farm boy, after setting about 5 tip ups and a sip of the ginger brandy, it was very cold and windy, I un rapped a sandwich and was taking a bite when a flag popped up, I grabbed the line and line did not move, with a mouth full of the sandwich I am trying to yell to my uncle for help, I would get about 2 feet of line back and the fish would pull my hand back into the water, I could never get more than 2 or 3 feet of line and down it would go again, my uncle is laughing his as off telling me not to force the fish, this went on for about 5 minutes and finally the fish broke off, we guessed it was a big cat fish, we fished for about another hour sipping on that ginger brandy to keep warm when a snow storm hit us, you could not see 10 feet, we finely got back to the car half frozen, turn on the heater and 5 miles down the road we realized that we had sipped too much of that brandy and were both drunk - The End

Douglas Barton That is an amazing classic fishing story! One of the things I cherish is fishing with my brother & son. We always end up with some similar story we talk about for years!!! Thank you so much for sharing that!

I hope you have figured it out since this video. Everyone goes to beach because of thick shelf ice but hard fishing there.
