- Re-uploaded with improved quality.
I was never particularly happy with the original laserdisc upload, too much fine detail was lost in the copying and uploading process so this is a new attempt with a few adjustments.
Big Country. August 27, 1986.
'The Seer - Live in New York' - Laserdisc Version.
To be able to upload a copy of this laserdisc (only ever released in Japan) was high on my wish list for as long as I’d had the BC1000stars UA-cam Channel.
Two years ago I was able to finally find a copy of the highly prized NTSC laserdisc of this great live show and make a direct copy of it from my laserdisc player.
As the original tapes of this concert have allegedly been “lost,” the chance of this show getting an official DVD release is very slim.
This NTSC Laserdisc displays at nearly twice the picture quality (425TVL lines as opposed to 240TVL lines for VHS) and is a better copy than my originally posted transfer which I have now taken down.
It’s not Full HD or even DVD quality but it’s the best quality upload of this show on UA-cam at the moment.
Presented in its original 4:3 aspect ratio - BIG COUNTRY's 'The Seer - Live in New York.'

kids, take notes, if you ever wonder what a guitar driven band is ? this is the perfect exemple. Such energy and harmonies in the riffs. The tone is heaven. full of high and the bass complete the low keys. wow.
Nothing programmed, no throwing in pre-recorded tracks, what we hear is what they're actually playing
Loud and proud for a Friday night 2023, legends never die 🎸🥁🏴
My first ever rock concert was for this very tour for The Seer in 1986, it was at The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco CA ,I thought the band were larger than life ,heroes , i was lucky to be there to see them .Stuart is the phenom of his generation , way more talented than his contemporaries ,but very humble and a genuine nice man ,he is missed by all of us
The twin guitars of Stuart and Bruce ....... the drums of Mark and THAT thumping bass of Tony. WOW! WOW!WOW! I'll never tire of listening to these guys.
It's great to view one, in my opinion, of the best LIVE bands ever. They were the first band I ever saw, on the previous Steeltown album tour, saw them a few times after, and a great show they produced time and time again. They were so underrated and underplayed on radio, but fans like those below me appreciated and knew they were in for a great night whenever they rocked up in our town. Cheers for this, brings back a of good memories, and great tunes. The Seer is my second favourite album after their excellent debut album The Crossing, of which the title track with Kate Bush on backing vocals, (how they got that done is a miracle in itself) is haunting. Utterly Superb 🤘
IMO, the best live band I've ever seen. The raw talent on the stage was mesmerizing. As great as Stuart was, what are the odds you find 3 others who are right there with you in their own craft? Only other band I saw that could hang was The Fixx and I've seen them a few times where it didn't come together for them but they co-headlines with The Alarm on their Ink tour and they were on another level that night. Wish it had been recorded because it was unreal. Big Country blew the doors out on every occasion I had to see them. Nothing else like them.
@@guyincognito1560 "Big Country blew the doors out on every occasion I had to see them. Nothing else like them." Happy you!!!
The other day I was listening to this while happily marching behind my lawn mower. At Harvest Home I spontaneously stopped, pointed at my neighbor, and shout “Just as you sew you shall reap!” while doing little heel clicks and jigs. He probably thinks I’m on the way to the loony bin, which may be true. 😜
Blast from the past. LOONY BIN .
Long live Big Country
Check into Angle Park, one patient.
One of the greatest bands of my generation. Stuart brilliant guitarist, Mark best drummer in the business!
"Mark best drummer in the business!"
It's a shame they almost didn't film Mark.
I was at this heavenly show. I know for sure they played for a lot longer than what’s here. One of the greatest shows ever! The electricity of this band in person is just unreal.
I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there
After Stuart saw some fighting in the audience (34:19), he first played on, then looked around for help (34:31) and finally stopped playing (34:39). And after only one second the rest of the band stopped! Fascinating. He had always an eye for the audience. :-)
His demeanor turned on a dime! You could immediately tell he was not happy about something.
" He had always an eye for the audience. :-)"
Yes like in:
22:57 "Yeap" hand-pink-waving😂

What a country! 😀
Wow I had never seen this. Thanks so much for uploading this. I miss you Stuart, my childhood hero.
wow this is special
Every song, everywhere, Tony Butler tracks, rest follow.
Thank you! I'm somewhere up front. Good memories.
Would love for a CD release of this one!
Stuart Adamson was so underrated and surely the most accomplished guitarist along with Charlie Burchill of
Simple Minds that Scotland ever produced.🎸👍
Stuart was a lot more complete
Great to see the audience up for it as much as the band
Thanks for posting. Always nice to see their live performance especially Stuart. Love em!
Now Thats Big Country
pentecost... let the spirit of Big Country descend!!! No Holy Spirit needed
Thanks for taking the time to finding a copy of the laserdisc and then uploading it!
Someone sent me a copy of this on VHS about 20 years ago. It's about that long since I've seen it last. I think BC got better live as time went by, so if their studio albums surpassed their live recordings in the 80s, it was the other way around in the 90s. "Come Up Screaming", which I've only picked up recently, may get my vote as their best album.
brilliant sound quality. Thank you.
This Concert Still gives me goosebumps! Flawless.. Thank you BC.
Love the Lt. Kije riff in the middle of Fields Of Fire!
One word. SUPERB
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
Love this so much 🎸🎸🏴🏴
Very cool!! Great find. Sad seeing the towers before Cheney and Rumsfeld seized power and forget changed the world.
46.06 tony literally bouncing across the stage
Totally agree. And many yrs later they would release their best Driving to Damascus. Pity about the poor management
@@padraigsisk4057 "Pity about the poor management" Who was the manager?
Nice one. Loved it when this was released - played it to death! The Depression, intermittent footage fits in so well, too. Thanks, Andy - hope you're well 👍
Hi Justin, I'll send you an email soon to catch up. 🙂
I think the footage cut into the concert takes away from enjoying the concert
Thanks for uploading, Andy, the audio on this is the best I’ve heard!
2021
Awesome - thank you :)
Loved it. Different kind of energy in NY versus the UK, but still brought up my pulse. What a talent. Surprising how many fights broke out...was it 3?
This is a gem. Thanks so much for posting / sharing!
💖💖💖
Mark too,
22:57 "Yeap" 😂
Is the full concert on the disc, if so you would think, Bruce could take this up as a project, and work on the video, and audio, and maybe aim to release it in 2026
Sadly it's not. The audio, presumably, has been "misplaced" as well.
I will be sing a young man's song..
Does anyone know where in New york this was filmed?
Pier 84 which jutted out into the Hudson River.
Have you been able to see if there are any editing differences between this and the DVD, or does is "merely" (ha!) provide better quality of the exact same edit?
There are no differences in the edit unfortunately, it's just cleaner. I keep banging on about the sound quality though, this disc really takes it to another level.
To me the film inserts like the documentary stuff takes away from the performance. I’d rather see the band instead of vintage film.
Same here. I don't know why they made such a deal of the vintage footage for this video.
No The Seer in the set tho, shame that like
It was first added to the live sets in December, 1986 so we just missed it here.
