Kabal Crystal Runner buff baffles me because that card has been good forever. It was played in Tempo Mage before it rotated, and then whenever Secret Mage has been a thing in wild it has been played in it and been very good, and has just gotten better with time thanks to how much more cheating of secrets there is now.
How would you buff it? 2 Mana 2/2 with Gain +1/+1 at end of turn if you control a secret? Can see something like that working in a weaker format.@@Emperorhirohito19272

Anub'arak i feel will be a cool addition to Dane Big Rouge replacing Sneeds. Not saying it will be good but for all of infinite value enjoyers it is an option.
Dane had a really cool idea with poisoned blade back when it was 4 mana. Shadowcrafter Scabbs HP + Beardo in a deck with lots of cheap spells turned it into a Wal-Mart Spellbane burn deck. Kind of want to try it out now I hope there is something in the upcoming cards to give Dinomancy some love. Cool card, and it has some meme otk applications.
It's so sad C'Thun buffs doesn't work well with Lor'themar( After any c'thun buff double stats from Teron will be erased. Hope they will fix it some time

Twist is great imo. Its a healthy break from wild when you had enough of secret mages, tony druids and even shamans. I'm not sure if this applies to everyone but ever since Stormwind I'm too bored of standard so twist is definitely what I am looking for after day 1-3 legend rush of wild every month. Hopefully they won't do what they did on beta again. No need wild lite.

ooh jade shudderwock isnt something i considered but am VERY interested in. as for my 2 cents on the kabal crystal runner buff, i honestly dont care that its a 6/5 now it doesnt change how u build the deck nor does it significantly shift the viability or lethality of secret mage. the funniest thing about crystal runner being a 6/5 is that when the secret mage floods their board with 6/6s and 6/5s zeph into betrayal can clear more things and u have more mana to test for objection/counterspell. more realistically clears like mass hysteria and hysteria become better into secret mage but again, doesnt shift the needle at all for the card. i think mana wyrm being buffed is a bigger deal for secret mage, getting a third premium 1drop in an aggressive deck seems more significant than a good card getting +1 attack
44:51 usher of souls used to only be friendly minions. Changing it to any minion is a big deal. Now you can make value trades and still get a buff out of it, or do full trades and get even more buffs. Obviously only relevant for twist, but that's true of any C'thun card

I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities. Like it boggles my mind that Inkmaster Solia didn't get buffed. They could've also buffed Justicar Trueheart.
So disclaimer I don't think it's still not going to be the best version of this kind of deck since Odyn requires WAY less to be the same kind of win con..... But an Enrage style combo c'thun warrior if I had to guess seems like it is going to be the closest we get to making c'thun viable (unless something in the new cards that will be added does something extravagant to the archetype). Running only crazed worshiper as your only c'thun buffer, which can be tutored with stolen goods means you can not only start snowballing c'thun buffs but also developing a taunt on your probably buffed board which is relevant against aggro for those times you need to only half pop off. Top that off with to the front!, the newly buffed emperor thaurissan, and the reduced cost of c'thun means you should be able to get that c'thun down way earlier as well and/or be able to slot a brann into the deck. Meaning you have a combo style finisher on top of big board swing potential. Again Odyn does this better, and enrage warrior is generally just better as a temp deck with the ability to completely lock out no even shaman aggro decks with absurd amounts of armor/board clearing any way but hey being a slightly worse version of a already t3 ish deck still means it's closer to viable so the copium is there.
Some of the buffs and reworks are *much appreciated* . Cards like Acidmaw and Anub'arak have been awful for *forever* so having them be remade, but still keeping in line with the general idea of the originals is really cool. The C'thun archetype getting a buff is also much appreciated. That being said though, strategies like Secret Mage didn *not* need buffs...

It’s very confusing to me because while I understand Blizzard really wants players to try Twist, it seems a little counterproductive to also buff Wild cards that won’t be in the Twist format while at the same time also wanting players to play Standard and buy the cards from the newest expansion? I don’t understand the intent, essentially. Wild (theoretically) won’t earn Blizzard as much profit as Standard so buffing all these cards must fit into a longer term strategy on their part? Good perspective Martian. Some of these cards will still see play in wild. And honestly twist will probably eat up a lot of the wild playerbase anyway.

I am probably delusionnal (and only play around diamond 10 to 5 in wild) but i don't really think that the Kabal Crystal Runner buff is that big of a deal. Ofc it is making the secret mage better but by what ? 1% more winrate ? I know it is frustrating to see this kind of buff inside a "wild update" because it gives the impression that the devs don't know/play wild, but i still think everyone is overreacting to this particular buff. I am kinda hype and hopeful for the Caverns of time new cards and i can't wait to try twist !
It's just how obvious they've made it that they don't care about or understand wild. I don't think people are worried about the buff in terms of gameplay.
The reason people are upset isn’t that it’s a big buff, it’s that Secret mage doesn’t need any buff at all. It’s already a strong deck, and it’s extremely obnoxious. This buff shows that they clearly don’t care about wild even a tiny bit and only care about twist.
I think the devs kinda tricked us, but maybe not intentionally. Twist seems to be more in-line with wild than standard. So I'm guessing that's how they validated calling this a wild event. Wild players are excited for Twist, but I haven't heard any standard players talk much about it. It seems that the reason this sux is because they are buffing cards that are already good cards in good decks, which will hurt wild. They are making a new temp meta, at the expense of wild. I'm guessing that this would feel better if they developed a good Twist meta that didn't buff already good wild cards.

as someone who took a break for 2-3 years and came back recently, this is very exciting. I still have the cards from the old gods/gadgetzan era, but had to stick to standard since I missed so many sets inbetween. I know a few people in the same situation, and while not being in the majority, there is a target audience for us too.
The three discover guys would be amazing if we could discover Titans. I don't like them buffing Crystal because she can discover coldarra Drake and I promise you that is a miserable way to lose. Especially since you can start the game and Shadow form this will high roll into a turn 6 otk out of nowhere
I wonder if the Lock n Load buff might actually have some viability for Questline Hunter? Refills your hand with all of the cheap damage effects so you don’t just fizzle out if you don’t have the damage. Might just not be good enough for that deck, though I suspect a lot of people are okay with that being the case.

It feels very uneven when u think abt Acidmaw not only getting a 4 mana discount, but also a text buff, while other legendaries like Hallazeal getting an insignificant buff when it comes to its playability.

They are both minions that do nothing on their own (even tho acid is arguably better cause is a sudo-poisonous) and understated, only that one costs 2 mana more and lets u gain some life and the other can nuke ur opponent's board (over and over if not dealt with) and being much easier to combo cause is at 3 mana. Hallazeal could have easily been a 3 mana 3/4 with the same text, and still he would have been underwhelming compared to Acidmaw. It doesnt really matter what format they are being played into, u will always have access to damage dealing spells that work with both of em (only that, again, acidmaw works just as well by just having a board that can attack).
I feel like it's okay for us to express disappointment? Of course don't get me wrong any new and interesting content is 👍, but this was advertised as a Wild set and it clearly is just a Twist set that happens to be playable in Wild. I think we can feel disappointment and excitement at the same time.
I really wonder what statistics blizzard sees. Everyone I know prefers wild format. I'd be willing to bet more people play standard but more people watch wild.

Back when wild was first introduced, it was advertised as a format where anything is possible and experimentation is key. Now it's advertised as power fantasy, where you win or lose on turn 3, and experimenting is no longer relevant, cause top 3 meta decks will roflstomp anything you can possibly come up with.

@@iuricunhamurakami8261 I mentioned Cobolds because twist contains sets up to that set, so it made sense to talk about it, but even then, this set in particular didn't even add much to secret mage anyways (explosive runes and maybe? Aluneth). Secret mage was good even back in Gatgetsan, which Cabal Lackey and Runner came from.

It doesn't make much a difference but usher of souls was changed also now it can be any minion that dies not just friendly minions as it is currently.

It feels very uneven when u think abt Acidmaw not only getting a 4 mana discount, but also a text buff, while other legendaries like Hallazeal getting an insignificant buff when it comes to its playability.

They are both minions that do nothing on their own (even tho acid is arguably better cause is a sudo-poisonous) and understated, only that one costs 2 mana more and lets u gain some life and the other can nuke ur opponent's board (over and over if not dealt with) and being much easier to combo cause is at 3 mana. Hallazeal could have easily been a 3 mana 3/4 with the same text, and still he would have been underwhelming compared to Acidmaw. It doesnt really matter what format they are being played into, u will always have access to damage dealing spells that work with both of em (only that, again, acidmaw works just as well by just having a board that can attack).
Who would have guessed? Blizzard promised one thing and delivered something else. Lies on top of Lies.
I feel like it's okay for us to express disappointment? Of course don't get me wrong any new and interesting content is 👍, but this was advertised as a Wild set and it clearly is just a Twist set that happens to be playable in Wild.
I think we can feel disappointment and excitement at the same time.
I really wonder what statistics blizzard sees. Everyone I know prefers wild format. I'd be willing to bet more people play standard but more people watch wild.

Back when wild was first introduced, it was advertised as a format where anything is possible and experimentation is key. Now it's advertised as power fantasy, where you win or lose on turn 3, and experimenting is no longer relevant, cause top 3 meta decks will roflstomp anything you can possibly come up with.

@@iuricunhamurakami8261 I mentioned Cobolds because twist contains sets up to that set, so it made sense to talk about it, but even then, this set in particular didn't even add much to secret mage anyways (explosive runes and maybe? Aluneth). Secret mage was good even back in Gatgetsan, which Cabal Lackey and Runner came from.
