Oh my goodness, your videos make me smile! Also, our approach to gluten-free pantries is practically identical...25+ years in and still being cheap! Would love to see what your flour cabinet looks like. SO. MANY. CONTAINERS. Also, have you seen the end of the movie Stranger Than Fiction when Will Ferrell brings Maggie Gyllenhaal flours (not flowers!?). Be still my gluten-free baking heart! Thanks for your positive presence in this corner of the internet.
I would really love a video about spices, if possible. I'm still pretty new to this celiac thing, and figuring out which spices were making me sick and which ones were probably fine was a whole thing. We're getting pretty expensive spices these days, so if you have tips I would love to hear them!
Hi Robyn! Love your channel! I recently discovered you and your channel through the fall edition of the Canadian Celiac Magazine online. I'm not even in a small town. I'm actually right about 1/2 way between Orangeville and Fergus, and know all to well about the lack of GF options either in the grocery stores and in local restaurants, but I've found several good GF options that I like in the Loblaw President's Choice product line of bread products. Also I'm sure you already know, but if not the regular VH Soy Sauce is GF. I'm planning to try out some of your bread recipes as I've always like making home made bread,... Well that is until I was hospitalized back in the end of June this year for having a hemoglobin lever of only 39 (125 to 140 is the normal range, as I was informed) and I was subsequently diagnosed while in the hospital with celiac disease. Keep up the great videos and recipes. I love all of your tips and jokes. great stuff1 cheers!
I love your channel!!! Love the humor but most of all I love how you have helped me navigate my way around gluten free everything!!! BUT best of all I love the recipes!!! The Bread Course is a life saver!!! Keep it coming!!!
Love all your courses and your videos. They saved me from a lot of headaches when I got diagnosed. Since you love Costco (I do too 😊) they avec a very good gluten free sprouted oatmeal from One degree😉
We put our breadcrumbs in the freezer, and then you don't have to care about best before dates! (We also shop a lot at canadian costco, so we have almost everything that you have, which was fun to see!)
Thank you for sharing. Never thought I would eat soooo much rice and corn items in my life until I was diagnosed with CD. I did find out, as I had received a box from my aunt, SKINNER brand gluten free spaghetti has been the best. USA. Really appreciate your content. Road trip to COSTCO please😂.
In place of soy sauce, I like coconut amino. I liked eating JOY gluten free ice cream cone until I learned I was allergic to soy and couldn’t have them anymore. 😩 I like Blake’s gf pot pies. We get them at Walmart. I also like Sunflower Seed Butter, especially over So Delicious cashew milk ice cream. Yum! Barilla is my pasta of choice although Jovial comes in a close second. I can’t have tomatoes anything, so I found a recipe for at pasta sauce made out of carrots and beets. You add in the herbs and it actually tastes pretty good. Then I’ve learned make gf and df Alfredo sauce with Violife shreds. I also like Black beans. Found a recipe for BBQ sauce made with Sweet potatoes and a dairy free recipe for salad dressing made with carrots. Haven’t figured out a dairy free recipe yet for ranch salad dressing.
You should keep your yeast in the fridge, it will last a long time that way. I have had my yeast for 3 years and it’s still like I bought it yesterday.
Hiii, thanks for your helpful videos!! Have you tried ZenB pastas yummy product which should get more credit. Closest to the flavor of traditional pasta I have found.
Hey! Just wanted to point out that the hemp hearts are $20 for 907g, but I only eat them a tablespoon at a time, so that $20 bag lasts me at least 6 months or more. There are plenty of cheap, naturally gluten-free foods! I also eat lots of rice and beans, which are some of the cheapest foods out there. 😊 It’s definitely possible to eat affordably when you’re gluten-free. I’ll add another budget-friendly video to my list!
@@robynsglutenfreeliving I do pretty good. Barilla pasta is pretty cheap and I buy and freeze gluten free bread until I get the stuff I need to bake it myself
IAM in Quebec and we have looked at labels for days and have discovered that the VH brand of soya sauce and other Asian sauces is certified gluten free.
In Canada, the best store-bought that you can get (at least Canada wide) is probably promise. I’ve heard good things about Canyon Bakehouse, but I think it’s a US product. 😊 Bakeries are a great option though if you have any around you!

I have made a Christmas cake from a recipe I followed in my nans old cookbook but added xanthan gum and I did ,are a few other cakes that were fine but this year nothing seems to work none of my cakes turn out well and I have never had a glutenfree bread turn out edible. Do u have Za book? I am getting even more depressed. Crave pasties, doughnuts , banana bread, carrot cake please help.
I didn't think there was such thing as gluten free oats. We can't even get them here in New Zealand. But if you're celiac and you eat them I guess that's pretty conclusive.
oats don't contain gluten. but they could(i don't know) be processed or packaged in a factory with flour so it might be best to look for that certification if you can't take that risk.
@@ciaranheikeclark I hear conflicting opinions on this. For instance in this article from Harraways, which produce them. "It is impossible for oats to be genuinely gluten-free. Gluten is the name given to a protein found in barley, rye, oats and wheat. The proteins are hordein (barley), secalin (rye), avenin (oats) and gliadin (wheat). According to Coeliac New Zealand, avenin is an essential part of oats. As avenin is gluten, oats can never really be gluten-free."
I have just seen you do courses but I cannot afford them as I am disabled and live on benefits as I have multiple chronic illnesses. Feel really really sad now
Yes! It is soy-based, just without the wheat. I do find tamari has a bit more of a robust flavour than regular soy sauce, but I love it! You can also get Kikkoman Gluten-free Soy Sauce, though I have never seen it at Costco.
Yes! I do actually have a large bag of rice from Costco! 🤣 Not sure if I just showed it very quickly or maybe it got cut from the video. Rice is not considered a high risk for cross-contact so you’re good with pretty much any kind! (Always check ingredients for rice blends or instant rice packets, though!)
@@robynsglutenfreeliving How do you survive if you don't have a lot of money and are diagnosed with Celiac? I looked up the Hemp Hearts, and they are $60 or $10 a pound. That is hugely expensive. @LittleBitofHopeToo2518 Hey there! The hemp hearts at Costco are $19.99 CAD for 907g, and that bag lasts me at least 6 months. It’s possible that wherever you are shopping has them at a higher price.
