I found your channel around october of 2021 back when i was contemplating relaxing my hair and have been a silent viewer ever since . A week of watching you + all the relaxed hair ladies on youtube i decided to schedule an appointment. Your videos have been sooooo helpful over the past year! I believe since i started watching your videos before i relaxed, it allowed me to start my relaxed hair journey on the right foot. I got a good trim and cut off all the damage when i relaxed and i went from hair just barely brushing my shoulders to 1 inch away from armpit length in a year!! seeing how your hair has changed for the better inspired me to keep up with regular trims and and my hair has never looked better. I love the lusters s curl and a lot of the other products you’ve recommended throughout ur vids. I’m a college student and also follow you on IG and ur such an inspiration for young black women like myself! I just wanted to comment and say that your content and impact reaches further than you know! I wish you all the best :)
OMG. I am speechless. I am so sorry that I can’t think of a better response, but I am so damn grateful to you. I am soooo honoured that I could help you and your hair. I love having you here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🥺
I’ve bleached and dyed my relaxed hair numerous times 😬 as long as you’re cautious about it, it’s possible. I also think the health of your relaxed hair plays a role too
@@StyleDomination it feels the same! No dryness or stiffness or breakage, and the color is gorgeous. I make sure to never get any relaxer on the bleached part when I touch up as well.
Wow, really? I remember my friend bleaching his relaxed hair and when he rinsed half of his hair literally washed down the drain! 😮 Double processing has scared me ever since. Relaxer plus peroxide? You are truly living on the edge!
@@gee_emmi noticed the people who can successfully dye their relaxed hair are either using a semi permanent or their hair is not fully straight. Having 100% straight hair and throwing bleach on it will definitely have your hair (and probably bits of your scalp lmao) going down the drain.
Hello Lovely you're right on point. I use a semi permanent hair color also. I always go to professionals for relaxer touch ups and hair coloring. I have fine hair so I usually wait 3 weeks after my relaxer touchs before I get a color. I use a clarifying shampoo before my color. I found by doing that my color lasts almost 3 months. Dom I just started doing that this year. I read an article somewhere to use a clarifying shampoo before you get a color. It really helps. So give it a try.
when I was relaxed I used semi permanent color not often I never colored the same day of relaxer always waited a few weeks go back for color never had any issues did it for year's.
I went to the hair dresser and i relaxed my hair and 3 weeks I bleached and dye my hair and now it is braking due to over processing. Thank God for the protein treatment, because that's what saving my hair. Yes make sure you get a good hairdresser that knows what they are doing.
I used to color my hair with relaxers. What protected my hair? I put semi-permanents over it which moisturized my hair and kept it healthy. Clairol's Jazzing was good, even the clear rinse helps protect colored hair. Just never color your hair (or rather use a permanent that requires a booster) the same time you relax it. But a rinse sticks better to freshly relaxed hair.
Loved it great info. I’ve had my stylist use a semi permanent color to cover my grays on relaxer day and it has worked out really well for me. She actually mixes the color in with a protein treatment and my hair feels strong but soft after my silk press. 🥰
I get a relaxer retouch a few times per year. For me, what works is semi dye in the month preceding and following the retouch. All other times, I use Wella demi dye with a small squeeze of Ion Absolute Perfection Booster Step 1 - it’s an olaplex dupe. This combined with organic hair products from Innersense has given me amazing results these last few years. Damaged my hair years ago with a permanent dye too close in time to my relaxer retouch - never used a permanent dye again 😅
I wish I had seen a video like yours a year ago,Dom! I’m natural but I did an at home semi permanent treatment that eventually ruined my hair! I had to cut off 3 inches of hair. Great video, your hair looks gorgeous and so healthy. 😊
Hi I was watching a video you posted 2 years ago regarding Olay skincare, I want to purchase the product but I did not see your daily moisturizer, your skin is really amazing
I have grown my hair halfway down my back. I really would love not to color my hair at all. However, I just turned 61 and the gray must go. I do my hair myself because I have never been to a salon that took good care of my hair. I have to admit I have not been to a salon in over 30 years. They may have gotten better. However, I am also on a tight budget. Anyway, I just texlaxed my hair this weekend and I am going to a conference in just under 2 weeks. I am spacing out my relaxer 11 days before I color only what needs it. I would prefer to space it out 2 weeks.
Thank you ❤️. I used semicolor advanced gray Clairol in the color: expresso bean N. Makes my gray seem more like highlights when the dye fades. I haven’t done relaxer or color or anything since the pandemic. I live in NYC, and I can’t find a hairdresser.
Hi Beauty Overload,Thank You So Much for the info, you always give us great advice.Just love your hair and mine is doing well also. Please post again real soon.🌹💐🌷
Dom,hi hello, what is the name of that semi permanent rinse, that you use.does your hair ever change colour while using. My hair always looks green after application. Thanks.
I was waiting to hear a mention of ammonia and/or peroxide, which relaxed people should surely avoid? That over processed hair situation can ruin your whole day and have you in braids for the next 3 years…
I also use a semi-permanent at the salon mostly as my hair is on the reddish side and I prefer black. I do this every time I relax, two or three times a year at most. I see relaxed UA-camrs adding blonde to the ends of their hair with the caveat that since they only relax the roots bleaching the ends is fine. I am like yeah everything in moderation pick a chemical and stick to it!
Hey Dom- great tips- thanks for posting 🙂 I don't have a relaxer (I barely straighten my hair- just wear glueless wigs but focus a lot of attention to taking care of my actual hair lol) but I did want to share that Palmers line have great moisturizing products....been using them for a while- highly recommend for anyone 👍
Ahhh Melissa. Thank you! This is so helpful. I’ve been testing different moisturizers for an upcoming video but have yet to find anything I like. I’ll check out the Palmer’s!!!❤
@@StyleDomination no problem! I know they have 3 lines: shine therapy, moisture boost, and length retention products. I use these products (moisture boost & length retention) on both my bf's hair and myself. I can definitely attest to it working for all hair types: I have a tighter curl and dense hair whereas my boyfriend's hair is wavy and dense.
Hey girl I'm one of your Bigger fan I love to hear bout relax hair now I just bleach my hair last week the 15 of July. I would to know how long do I wait for the bleach to grow out of my hair so I can relax my hair I would love to hear from u thank u ❤
What are your thoughts on Natural Instincts box dye? I think it's semi perm or just a rinse but is supposed to be pretty gentle for relaxed hair. It gradually washes out.
The thing is, semi permanent colours tend to use 10 volume developer and fade out over time meaning to cover grey permanently you would need to keep applying dye periodically to previously coloured hair which ultimately must damage the hair. If this is the case, wouldn’t it be better to do a one off permanent colour that uses a 20 volume developer?
I believe it comes to the cross roads do you want to save the condition of the hair or want 100% coverage with the risk of brittle damage hair later.. this question for relax girlies. Natural you have more room to play
Go to a PROFESSIONAL! Take my advice please ladies bc my hair is GONE. I was too lazy and cheap to set an appointment and consequently my hair broke off in several places. My hair was the longest itd been in since I was a little girl. I got bored of it and stoped being careful 😭💔

I'm premenopausal this is the first month I missed. Period. My sister told my to drink some speramint tea which is supposed to help with symptoms . A few hours after drinking that tea my period shows up. Really weird. I would love to hear what you are going through.
Hey Dom! Am having some silver strands in my hair too, and been contemplating on coloring my hair, but the fear in me was so overwhelming, been watching other ladies hair getting badly damaged due to coloring, and i just wouldn't want that on my own hair, i have labored so much to have it at this length... Lol. but am really so grateful for these great tips you've just shared, you've just given me confidence and you have drowned my fears, will get a professional to do the job, do you have any recommendations on good semi permanent hair color one would use? Thanks for the video, blessings your way!
Hi Ivy! Awww! I am so glad! Sadly, I don't know which hair colour brands to share. Gloria always mixes the colour out of view and she is a little hesitant to share the product as it is for professional use only (she's worried that people will find it and not apply it correctly and ruin their hair). I HIGHLY suggest you have a consultation with a stylist you trust and be sure to ask what colour and brand is best for you!
My question is: Can you relaxed dyed hair? That's the opposite of your topic in this video. I have dark semi-permanent color on my coarse curly hair with almost 2 inches of gray growth. I want to use relaxer on my dyed hair, then apply semi-perm hair color to the new growth afterwards.
Lol. The teachers assistant in me wants to say: "Yes you can. No you may not." BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Lol. Joke. My saying is "Dye a relaxer...it's not a disaster. Relax a dye that hair might fry." The rules have kinda changed since OLAPLEX stepped in the room. I love UBERLISS bond builder too.
