- I take apart a used Glarry Guitar to find out how good (or bad) the build quality is.
Bonus, it had Dragonfire Pickups!
00:00 Introduction
00:21 What's up with the Pickups?
00:49 Fret sprout?
01:30 The cheapest of the cheap hardware and electronics
02:32 Dragonfire!
03:16 Tone wood... Just kidding!
05:04 The electronics
06:10 Don't be fooled, an LTD is way better!
06:56 Even worse than the worst jack I have ever seen
07:15 I shouldn't be so mean
08:20 Dragonfire pickups
09:51 How does it sound?
12:08 The verdict
You're videos are some of the best on UA-cam for guitar obsessed loonies like me. Thanks!
That is the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week!
I posted a video yesterday where I actually play drums to a short Yvette Young video, have you seen it?
This all actually started on drums for me but guitars are beautiful and I can’t get enough of them.
I have one of these guitars and i have a 7 string Ibanez. I like my ibanez, but I love my glarry. Yeah it's super light soft wood. but i've played it for a year with no issues, it stays in tune, it sounds kinda hollow, but with the right amp, it sounds great and has an unbeatable price for how it plays and sounds. definitely a project guitar. and i think it has the coolest body style. the fretboard was flawless on mine out of the box. if you have a low budget and want an awesome guitar, this is the one you want. at least for playing METAL. (its actually the guitar in my profile picture)
That is a stellar endorsement!
I was very impressed with what you get for the money. I’m glad someone with the guitar has confirmed the neck is good out of the box and the way the pickups sound.
I have the same one in the video in left handed. I like it tbh. It’s light, and i can screw around on it. I’m gunna put a Floyd rose on it lol
Nice video, I was wondering about these guitars and how they could possibly be so cheap, now I know thanks to you, instant sub! also, nice shirt
Thank you! I’m glad your here.
I have one on Harley Benton where I do the same thing if you look in my videos.
Those are dragonfire crusader pickups.
The knobs have been changed, too. Basswood body, maple neck with “rosewood” fretboard
You are correct about the pickups. But… if that’s basswood it’s the softest basswood I have ever seen.
Not saying it isn’t, but the quality of the wood wasn’t very durable. But then neither is basswood.
Invader Copies. Still are wax potted and ceramic magnets. Good cheap pickups. I have a set on my G310.🤔😁
Yeah, they seemed fine.
Who else wants Eddie to make a component bucket list for a dream 80s (but updated) 24-fret shred demon?
from tuners to bridge, pots, jack, wire guage, solder, wood, neck profile...yeah.
Now your talking!
I actually am working on something right now that will be almost entirely 80s parts. It isn’t my bucket list guitar but it’s going to be very cool and you will get a sneak peak in the huge video I’m working on right now about the history of Kahler guitar bridges.
Even if you are not a fan of Kahler (I wasn’t in the 80s) they have a big place in the history of guitar.
Also, I reveal few things that will shock the hell out of people who love the Floyd Rose! I know, I couldn’t believe some of these things myself.
The history of Kahler was done with the full support of Kahler and I spent months on it with their sales manager. I am very excited about bringing it to you all!
@@REXYLAB We were brainwashed by those who had no clue, bro. Kahler was the JCM900 of the 80s...loathed for no reason.
@@lsu1992 well, they do have a very different feel to them but they are top quality bridges for sure.
I just got this guitar in black I like it a lot love the comfortable neck out of the box it had the volume know put on crocked fixed that the other thing Ill deal with is the input jack it's tight hard to pull my cable out of the guitar.Instill have to adjust it to my liking but I won't return it not that bad.I plan on upgrading the input jack as well as volume and tone knobs and tuners.
For what it is and how little it costs as long as it doesn’t burst into flames it’s still a deal.
I have it in left handed. It absolutly needs some love, but I love it. You can mistreat without shame cuz it was less than $100
I've only bought one guitar with fret sprout and it was a +$300 guitar. None of the 7 sub $150 guitars I've bought have had any fret sprout.
That is both awesome and sad at the same time. Crime her in out I wish you sproutless guitars at every price point.
Love the channel man.. well done
Thank you so much for that! I love sharing this stuff with like minded people who love guitars as much as I do.
I’m working on some pretty wild stuff right now. The future is going to have some really cool things on my channel for you all to check out.
@@REXYLAB keep up the great work.
@@tippss3332 I’ll do my very best.
Great video, thanks. Are the frets are mid-jumbo or just regular like LP ? Thanks
I honestly don’t remember. Understand that these are kind of like the bic lighters of guitar, essentially disposable. It will most likely fall apart eventually.
Great vid!
Thanks!
I knew it that they were dragonfire, those ohm out at 16,700 hot as hell
It really is. They were a pretty good upgrade for this guitar as well.
Hell I found a Squier strat at the pawnshop for $69 cleaned it up cuz it was filthy its a fantastic guitar someone had stolen the pickups off it & replaced them with crap 13:31 pickups , they ohmed at 3200 absolute junk so I replaced the picguard with huh & it's a screamer
There’s nothing wrong with a squire. Great design with a few corners cut.
Damned shame it's so craptacular. I love the shape of that flame guitar.
For what it is it’s not horrible. But Ltd has a almost identical shape.
Yeah just look at what Silvertone guitars are going for these days. I mean I doubt these guitars will reach the collectablity of Silvertones but who knows. Stranger things have happened. I actually really like them.
Solid logic.
It's a $64 right out of the factory guitar. What did you expect, a Fender American Strat?
Did I give the impression I expected anything?
I like those green caps they aren't muddy sounding like an orange drop. Yeah they are inexpensive and they are good.
Almost every expert agrees that a cap is a cap. It’s the value that makes it sound muddy. Orange drops are easy to work with but they are no better or worse than anything else.
@@REXYLAB well I have first hand knowledge of many caps that I have tested. They do sound different.
@@johnk9762 I’m not getting sucked into that argument.
Those pick ups look like Duncan Invaders
They sure do.
Cork?
As far as what the body is made of?
@@REXYLAB Yes, or maybe balsa. Or maybe it's as simple as low quality hardwoods with soft spots. Cork doesn't really make sense. Thanks - loved your video.
@@scottstewart5784 I think it’s balsa. It’s very light weight and soft as can be.
I saw the same thing on a couple Chibsons. After the second one the quality of them was so bad I now have a no Chinese fake guitar policy.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem at all with guitars made in China. Fakes though are a different story.
Ive seen paulonia or somwthing like that on really cheap guitars recently, but no idea as to its hard or softness
@@maxmustardman298 I know nothing about that wood so I don’t have an opinion on it. Whatever this wood is it’s very soft.
22÷4= about 4 1/2.😂😂😂 now that is some horrible math.
When you add asymmetrical values it is far from perfect math. A single coil plus a humbucker divided by 4 will almost never be exactly what your 4th grad teacher told you it would be.
And the meter backed up my guesstimate so…
