When you're selling a guitar for $79, you're probably paying no more than $45 at the factory... In that scenario every single cent counts towards quality. So why these guys decide to waste money on a useless 'popcorn cable', a gossamer thin 'gig bag', and the worlds most uncomfortable guitar strap is beyond my understanding. Put that wasted cash into improving the quality,, heck, even take 5 extra minutes to make sure it's strung properly... 🤦♀️
You got it pardner. I have been in touch with Glarry and I have expressed my interest in seeing them put more emphasis on quality control and explained to them that they are the reason for the creation of the "wall of shame " and I told them that until some other manufacturer sends out an even worse guitar than theirs that their guitar will remain there. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!😉👍!!!
Rhetorically asking, what's the difference between a 100 dollar guitar and a 1000 dollar guitar? Usually a lot, even if they have the same specs. I paid around 1000 eur to get myself a baritone stratocaster this year, fret dressing by a luthier included. That is the best guitar I will ever own.
I have a few $1000 guitars that are absolutely crap, and a few $100 guitars that are amazing. The guitar doesn't know how much you paid for it. Thanks for watching and for your kind comments 😀👍!
Well, I don't want to spoil it for you pardner. Besides, it's possible that they have updated the guitar since our review. We wish you well! Break a leg!😉👍!
Once again, why I like both you gentleman so much, is honesty and integrity in your reviews... OUTSTANDING review! You are correct, the guitar is sort of a copy of an Ibanez GIO. I'm going to try to not say too much, but you'll see this company get a lot of positive reviews as they send their products to UA-camrs for free and I mean...constantly so on some reviews, that mitigates any found issues. The majority of the time if you lower the strings down, will see high frets from the middle to the end of the fret board because of a "high tongue" (real term). You will also find issues with the pickups (as you have shown) also the string tuners at times. I think if you are experienced in setting up and upgrading guitars and parts like electronics and hardware these guitars are a great platform to build on. Or if you want to learn to repair, setup and upgrade guitars, great. But for a new person just starting out.. no way. Also to note, most bass and electric guitars from them, that have that many issues, at a typical luther / repair shop your looking at close to the same price or more to fix the guitar itself regards to parts and labor. My 2 cents. I hope the both of you have a great day.
Thanks for an honest & great reviews. This is looks very interesting guitar, I heard the tele one here in UA-cam sound pretty good. Well done guys I really enjoyed it👍👍.
Lol, well done. Remembering that i can't build a guitar from scratch for this price. And it will take me days to sew a dust cover! It is fun to watch the real issues of this guitar. And in the end it sounds quite nice in Dan's hands (as long it stay tuned) That's entertainement ...
The point of our channel is "can you play it right out of the box " the guitar in this video doesn't meet our very low standards. I can do that to any guitar and possibly improve it, but a guitar is supposed to be a guitar when you purchase it no matter how little you paid for it. Our very first video was a Glarry ST-3 guitar and it was awesome. It was much less than this one at the time. We made several videos comparing it with a Squier Standard from the 80's and most people actually preferred the Glarry. Thanks for watching and for your kind comments 😀👍.
Shame the neck/tuning is so bad as I actually kinda like the 80s rock styling of the body! I suppose the tuning/playing issues could be fixed, but the huge neck is something it'll always be stuck with! I like thick necks, but not on an Ibanez copy!! Great review fellas!
At that price at least it didn't just fly apart first time it was strummed 🤣, pity the tuners seem like trash as if nothing else it could always be a parts guitar, those pickups sound fine. It's probably more of an issue with the trem system than the tuners though. Still a great buy if you knew what you were doing and upgraded any not up to par parts. I continue to be amazed by the quality of the cheap and new stuff. I'm in my 40's and getting a guitar that is somewhat playable delivered to your house for under $100 is still pretty mind blowing for me, but its not helping in me trying to cut down and not have 30+ guitars around 🤣
Well pardner, the entire gist of our channel is " can you play it right out of the box". We expect any guitar that we purchase to be a playable instrument. It must be playable for us to reccomend it because if a novice can't play it, it will probably just end up on the wall like this one did. I know exactly how to fix this guitar, but I'm not going to. It serves a better purpose by taking its place of dishonor on the wall of shame. Thanks as always for watching and for your kind comments 😀👍.
@@leodanryan966 The wall is a good place for it 🤣. I have known too many people that bought really bad guitars for their first one and that alone kept them away from playing.
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind comments. This guitar was uncomfortable to hold. It was very much like playing a piece of firewood. It was the worst guitar we've ever reviewed so far, and we've reviewed many 😉👍!
I really like your reviews, you are honest and thorough. Regardless of the lack of quality, when you play it, you make it sound like a $500 guitar. :-)
I wish they would make the neck thinner it's supposed to look like a Ibanez but the neck is like a Gibson Les Paul thickness which it's the opposite of which it should be
It's kind of a log. I had high hopes for the ST-170. But it was just disappointing. Dan of course is the guitarist. I just purchase the guitars and record the videos. I play a little bit but I truly suck at playing the guitar. Dan has really long fingers (for a human) and he has trouble getting them around that neck. The first ever video we made was a Glarry ST-3 and it was a great guitar. I'm not saying that Glarry guitars all suck, but we really just don't like the ST-170.
Yup, that's what it is. In honesty it is nice to have something to carry the guitar in. Squier guitars don't even give you that. Thanks as always Harry for watching and for your kind comments 😀👍!
We may have an exceptionally bad example, but it is our mission to hold manufacturers to a standard of quality control that makes it impossible for that to happen. Thanks very much for watching and for your kind comments 😉 👍!
I enjoyed your playing and it was a good review. It's probably the cheapest guitar you have reviewed also though right? Strings need to be stretched of course. Put new strings on it? I got one of these for $65 (unbranded version, no glarry logo), I got a Ibanez GIO for $200. The ibanez was better, but not 3X better! This guitar is almost amazing for $65! It's almost as good as the $200 ibanez. In some ways I think I like the Glarry better; maybe it's the idea it was so cheap and punches above it's weight that makes it just a little more satisfying! My cheapest guitars are my favorites it seems. Although it feels kind of "small" for some reason...a little bit cramped and cheap feeling. Sanding the neck down, stain it and lacquer the neck maybe. The pickups sound perfect for metal and hard rock. The headstock provides plenty of string tension, giving lots of sustain. I like the tuners fine no need to change them. What size frets are those?
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind question, unfortunately we no longer have the guitar as we found it to be the worst guitar we've ever reviewed (at least the example we purchased). It hung on the "Glarry wall of shame " for awhile until we needed the space. I eventually fixed as many of the issues as I could and gave it to a friend along with 10 other guitars 😉👍!
Thanks for watching, you are welcome to purchase one and find out. Personally, after fixing the tuning issues it was still not at all comfortable to play, but each to his/her own opinion 😉👍!
I understand that, but this channel is about "can you play it right out of the box ". The ST-170 is the worst example of a guitar that we've reviewed in our opinion. We appreciate your time and kind comments and you are certainly welcome to disagree 😊. Of course you are absolutely entitled to your own opinions and we respect them. Thanks very much for watching and please keep doing so. We want you to, and we value every opinion.
