I bought one when I was considering getting back into playing. It was 59 bucks and I thought it was extremely very okay. All the important stuff, neck, bridge location and wiring was okay. I put a graphtech nut on it and some 39 dollar Dragonfire Crusaders on it and became pretty nice. So then I felt led to put some roller saddles on it and push pull pots for splits and then strap locks and shielding....and BAM! A super okay guitar. Now I buy em and build em and sell em for a reasonable price and actually kinda dig em. I say buy em, mod em and learn luthier stuff and have fun.

Actually the guitars in my pic are two of them I built and rebranded. Very nice and affordable. Do a show and smash it and set it on fire at the end of the show...They'll love you for it.

I like your review on this guitar, although I'm much more of a metal head and like full blown shredding,I like the fact you played individual notes rather than strumming chords, and you managed to show the dynamics of this instrument with your playing as well, which is something no other reviews manage to demonstrate,I just got an email yesterday from glarry, they are sending me some guitars to review and I'm looking forward to it...good job with yours

At the price that you can buy a Glarry electric guitar for you could send it to a guitar tech to upgrade it and set it up and it would be a good guitar. 😊 If you can upgrade and set it up your self it would be a really good guitar, especially for a beginner.

The good... Colored head stocks rule! It has a strat like shape which I love. Best guitar look ever! Dig the fret markers. Many kick ass rickenbackers have them. Sounds nice enough on the neck pick up at least which is all that really matters to me. Always been a neck pick up guy 99% of the time. LOVE the smooth and clear sound that the neck pick ups deliver. No protruding metal frets is a must on any guitar. I don't like to get cut and bleed when playing guitar lololol. Just saying...
Everything else is meh/terrible in my opinion. That being said... Is the price really just under 100 bucks? Not bad honestly... Comes with a amp too. Very good for a beginner. But after those first few months when you learn how to play the popular chords like a minor, a, e, e minor, c, g, d, d minor etc... Once you learn bar chords for songs from dudes like nirvana or the ramones... Once your fingers stop hurting and you can endure playing for hours... Eyeahhh....... You're going to want to get away from this thing and move to higher quality to pull off some hendrix stuff lol. Or at least... Like Hendrix lol... No one tops the legend... Still waiting to see some one who can play a out of tune guitar while breaking the rules and still sounding amazing as if the guitar is in tune, with their hands in a switched ambidextrous position while upside down with their teeth or behind their back or between their legs...
"Is he really that much better than me?" - Angry Eric Clapton.
Sorry Clap but yes... Yes he is... Better song writer too. And to think... He was still very young when he died. THAT good at such a young age? Holy crap lolz. Boggles the mind. Some people just have the gift ya know.
Anyways... I got carried away. Good video! lol

Got mine to practice modifying it. The neck is smooth, the body is in good shape. Frets are not sharp at the edges. Fretboard is a bit rough but looks ok after some cleanup. The nut is plastic garbage and is set way too high. The action was very high but it was easy to lower it a bit. Frets were mostly even. I was planning to do a fret leveling but only did a couple of ones that were more raised. I might still have to do the whole fret leveling to lower the action where it is actually playable.
The pickups were not bad. For clean playing they were ok. For distortion not so much. Not able to maintain a constant sound. All 3 pickups were weak but the middle one was very weak. I replaced the neck and bridge ones with some used Jacksons and the middle with a new Wilkinson. It sounds so much better
One problem is that the strings are very close to the pickups. Most likely the neck needs a shim to raise the incline a bit. The action height screws in the bridge are scratching my palm.
The tuning pegs were ok, kind of wobbly. They were probably usable but I replaced them with some gotoh tuners. They fit right in even though the screw hole was slightly off but I was still able to use it.
The biggest problem is intonation. Even at the max level of the intonation screws the guitar is still not intonated well. Which means I might have to move the bridge. That kind of sucks but there is some room. The bridge is OK and I probably won't replace it.
The strings were crap but useful for doing adjustments.
In summary I replaced the pickups, tuning pegs, nut, strings and input jack. It's playable right now but still not where I want it to be.

This is the second review of this guitar I've seen Jimmy, and the other one had exactly the same issues with sound dropping out. I have seen an Ibanez on Amazon that looks almost exactly like it, but it is an HH configuration guitar for 149$. No accessories package but for my money I'd definitely get the Ibanez. I also review Glarry guitars from time to time, but I have to actually purchase them.

Need bone nut.....very soft plastic. Jack is super soft metal....will crackle in no time. The tremelo is worthless. Frets will be bad here and there. Not leveled. Unless you level them you'll never get good action. If you block off the tremelo and replace the nut cutting it perfectly it may stay in tune. Pickups are anemic.
I had no problem with the tuners if I stretched the strings. Low end but workable. Don't be surprised if you get spider cracks in the paint.....it's not cured well.

  • @davekell36
    @davekell36 4 роки тому

And I'm thinking the ones they give to reviewers on youtube are great the ones we buy are garbage. there is a 1/8th gap on one side and 1/4th of a gap on the other side of the neck to body joint. the action is over 1/2 inch off the neck. the finish around the neck joint is warped and discolored. I tried to tune it (standard E) and it would go out of tune in minutes, the tuners are awful, I mean really bad. I cant stress how much I regret buying this for my son, but I should expected it. I'm now going to take it to my local guitar shop and if its over 50$ to fix (the action)then it wasn't worth it and I will try to return it. I'm going to buy him a name brand and I have learned my lesson buying from glarry. only 2 good things I have to say...it was 92$ so its not like I'm out a bunch and the pick ups were good enough.

When people say that if you upgrade a cheap guitar,- they need to explain why, how, and what...Is the pickups bad ? tell me how. Low responses on certain frequency's ? poor balance between high and lows ??? If you do not explain, your statement become meaningless.
many of the worlds most known and expensive guitars started out with poor wood, handwinded pickups that made one guitar sound totally different than the next on the assembly line. Coming out for the first time today like that and no one would take the seriously. To add to the ("Stradivarius syndrome"), many of this guitars cost more than good cars today from their collectability.
By the way, the "Stradivarius syndrome# is from the famous violin. The one that for 300 years+ have sounded so much better than any other violin and people have looking for the secret. Until a female musician gathered a bunch of pro musicians in a hoteldom and let them blindfolded try out 2 stradivarius violins and a a bunch of new once and some real cheap for beginners. No one liked the Stradivarius, they like the new ones. Confirming that people listen with their eyes. Guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen said,# if it sounds good,- it is good". I agree.
    All you need to know.
