I do cad and 3D sculpting on my iPad… lol It’s actually really nice! Touch screen, apple pen… it’s really intuitive and fast. People think I’m crazy all the time but my IPad has no problems with cad or 3D sculpting unless I’m also recording the session in high quality while also watching UA-cam/Netflix in a small window in the corner. I’m genuinely surprised at how fast the Air 4 is, in case anyone wants to try it. I just got a pro and I’m curious how much faster it will be.
No, it uses optical sensors. So it would work in space. From 3Dconnexion's website, "The SpaceMouse Module is the ideal man-machine interface. Beneath the ergonomic controller cap is a precise, optoelectronic measuring system that converts movements on up to six axes into electrical signals." And even if it was accelerometer based I'm pretty sure that would also still work in space.
Doing CAD on a laptop is psychotic.

They actually used this (pro model) in The Expanse tv show for piloting their ship. I use it regularly as a Model Maker Machinist for CAD/CAM.
