  • We wanted to update you on what’s been going on with us since we rolled out TANK in the desert a few weeks ago. We posted a video about the weekend highlighting the accident, and we want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and well wishes-it means a lot to us.
People contacted us with suggestions of where to get our car fixed and things to look out for, and they were generally super supportive and empathetic.
We shared the video everywhere-not only because we want to continue our mission to share more of this incredible country with everyone but also because the off-road community here in Saudi Arabia is just that….a community.
The video was getting a lot of views (2,874!) - and we were psyched about that. The footage and tips we shared were educational and aimed to inform our audience about the dangers of driving in the desert. A lot of people actually thanked us for that, which was really cool and gratifying.
Strangely, last week, we woke up to a message from UA-cam telling us our video had been taken down because of a copyright removal request from the guys who shared their dashcam video with us! We were surprised and didn’t expect anything like that since they knew we had a channel, shared their footage with us willingly, and never told us not to share it.
We reached out to them, apologizing for not specifically asking if we could use the footage in our video because we naïvely assumed it was understood that we would. They said they wanted to "protect their footage," 🤷 🤔 so...we improvised! This video is not as interesting as the version with the actual footage of the accident, but it is what it is. (We like the analysis graphics, but we still wish we could share the dashcam footage!)
NOTE - a few of you mentioned the Saudi Arabian flag on Rocky's vest; while it's still in this video, we have removed and replaced it. Thank you for pointing that out. We appreciate your support and all the comments and suggestions we receive, and we take them all to heart and try to respond to each comment.
    PEACE, GOODWILL, AND ADVENTURE!
    ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION,
Join us on today’s adventure when we head out to the dunes in Al Muzahimiya to see the Milky Way and end up having a tragic season-ending accident when we roll our TANK 300 down a dune.
Check into this episode to see the desert's beauty, power, and splendor. Including camel spiders, scorpions, scarab beetles, and the International Space Station! (and, of course, the Milky Way!)
Thankfully, we are all OK except for the TANK. Tune in to see how this marvel of Chinese engineering withstands the forces of nature….and gravity.
We will be bringing the restoration and rebuild to you soon!

must of us saudi dont care for off roading in the summer as you saw sand is soft best time to drive on the sand when its raining and and its cold also driving on the sand weight and low horse power is your enemy also the weight of the tent on the car's roof for sure did add to the issue you sadly faced anyway lets just say thank god no one is hurt and cant w8 to see you guys with a new adventure 🙋

I agree completely! We knew this and against our better judgement, we went for it. Lesson learned. Our tour leader was far more experienced and felt the sand would not be that soft. He also had a near empty rig. We had 4 people in the car with all our gear so that did not help.
We have an extremely lightweight tent - 36KG! Together with the awning, 49kg. Certainly it contributes to a slightly higher center of gravity, but not too bad. Had the sand been firmer, I think the outcome would have been different. As we slid, the sand mounded up against the tires, until we hit a grassy patch when it became more of a wall, stopping the car but not the momentum. I keep thinking that had I had my wits about me and told everyone to lean left, the car might not have gone over - it definitely paused for a couple seconds before rolling.

So sorry to hear of your accident. These things do happen even to the most experienced, so really glad everyone walked away fine. That’s the most important thing 👍

Unfortunately, the owner of the dashcam footage issued a copyright takedown with UA-cam, so we HAD to leave out the best part. Believe me, nobody is more disappointed than us.
      Thanks!!

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you and your family are okay.
I've got a question regarding the car: After the accident, do you find parts to fix it here in Saudi Arabia, and how does the company provide services in general? I am looking for one of these Tanks 300.

    • @TANKampers
      @TANKampers  Місяць тому +1

Thank you, and YES! We are all fine.
To be honest, we had no issue with the parts. Some were available immediately here in KSA, and the rest came from the regional parts distribution center in Dubai (within 2 weeks).
We did order some parts (OEM) directly from China as after I got a cost comparison, a few items were considerably cheaper when ordering that way. The dealer is good - for this job, their cost was far too high as they don't actually repair bodywork - they replace it in its entirety, and they overestimated the damage by replacing all kinds of things that don't actually require being replaced - so they took the piss a bit. Still, they are, in general terms, very good.
Become a TANKer; what are you waiting for?

I don't know what your friend saw but it wasn't us - what are the TANKampers without a TANK!?!? We will post a video of the repair and upgrade soon and as soon as the weather gets cooler, we will be back on the trails! We are thinking about making a season recap as we miss posting! Thank you for your message!!
