Hardly. It's a video game so the morals in it don't matter, but she slaughters entire families, FAMILIES! Father's, mother's, children or so it's assumed. She was going to sacrifice her, I don't know if you can actually fail saving Yenna, but maybe she can die too. And y'all are crying over a, all be it cute, cat. Come on guys....

they should have let us hug yenna. i just want to hold her and reassure her that everything’s okay now. she’s just a child, and didn’t deserve any of that.
Then the scene cuts to a flashback of Orin tip-toeing through camp while everyone is asleep, trying to drag Halsin by the arm (who's sleeping like a stone), getting frustrated then just fuckin' turning into an ogre and putting him over her shoulder BUT STILL tip-toeing her way out of camp as well. Imagine a big ass ogre in stealth mode and there you go
Love that former psycho Minthara is the one who has the deepest insight from being captured by Orin. Thanks for giving us the different dialogue options or as the Githyanki would say "Chraith'kan Zharn".
Minthara is honestly the wisest companion in your party. Her insight on the others is top notch, and when she displays her true vulnerability with you it’s honestly heartbreaking

My God, Minthara is so underrated. Whenever she opens up like this and her tone and expression turn sad, it immediately makes me tear up. She's so blatantly evil, yet so self-aware that it makes me question just how evil she really is. Truly a tragedy of her upbringing, but deep down she's absolutely stunning, captivating even....in an oddly perplexing way. Her thoughts and emotions are full of juxtapositions in a way, constantly switching between or being simultaneously evil and good, insane and sane, unjust and just enz. The writers and voice actress deserve more praise honestly, they did so well showing such emotions in an otherwise very stoic character.
As a Minthara romancer it makes me so sad that of all of Orin's potential victims the one she ends up hurting the most is Minthara, in her clutches again like she was before. When I reached this point and she was taken I RUSHED to Orin as fast as I could figure out; from the murder victims to finding the tribunal, to turning on Sarevok (in a fight I thought I couldn't win at first, but then I did), to bee-lining for the temple of Bhaal without a long rest, in case Orin would kill her victim before we got there. I went in knowing nothing about her fight (hadn't found Volo or any other hints toward how to fight Orin yet) and that was a BITCH of a fight, but we pulled it off somehow (turns out Gale is REALLY FUCKING GOOD as a lvl 12 Wizard burning every spell slot and spamming lvl 5 and 6 scrolls left and right) My current character is a Tav, but I plan to replay as her, re-imagined as a Durge, which nicely fills in the few holes in her backstory I couldn't, and would give me the Durge exclusive lines to boot. I can totally picture her struggling with the urge in act 1, that leading her into Minthara's arms and an unexpected companion, to spending all of act 2 resisting in defiance of her actions in act 1, to learning the truth, restoring her oath that she will master herself and protect the love of her life... only for her to immediately be taken by the worst person on Toril she could be at the mercy of again, leading her on a roaring rampage to the temple, half-memories leading the way, and ultimately claiming that power with the promise she had made to Minthara to protect her empowering her all the way. Damn, Minthara's romance has no business being this good for how buggy and sparse it is, but it makes me want to go through it not once but twice, so they must have done something right.
She is an oddly sympathetic character if you bother to befriend her and take her in as a companion, (or even romanced partner, like I did). Done both my playthroughs with her as a companion because she has more depth than some of the other companions. She is still insane in other regards, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Halsin's reply is actually really sad if Orin kills him, and you cast "speak with dead" on him after. He says "I hoped my friends would save me...." :(
That'a like a failsafe in case you don't take a long rest and explore beyond the Emperor's hideout. Orin's kidnapping is the first thing that happens during your first long rest in the Lower City, taking priority over anything so it makes sense
in my first two playthroughs orin kidnapped halsin, and tbh i kind of left it until last, not because i don't like halsin but because i'm not attached to him like i am to some of the others. in my third playthrough she kidnapped lae'zel, and i was just like 'that's it, she's going down'
I hope if there is ever a continuation in some way of these characters...that they do Minthara justice. Don't want another Viconia or Sarevok situation...completely throwing their character development under the bus.
Viconia gets me shaking in my boots. With Sarevok I can sort of get it but you put so much work into Viconia and the alignment change and it just h u r t s to know that in the end it was for not
Viconia follows Shar no matter what you do in BG2. Shar is almost entirely responsible for her undoing of any progress Gorions Ward made with her. Sarevok is a Bhaalspawn. Him returning to Bhaal side was always going to happen because he was ultimately afraid of death and if you didn't see that in BG2 you're naive. It's only the DUrge that gets a chance because of Jergals intervention.
Minthara was abused and "brainwashed" by Orin before getting to the goblin camp. She adored Orin, though, so they are elements of cults indoctrination to her character. Orin only saw Minthara as her new toy. Minthara is also growing. If you save her from prison, it's clear that the player character is the first one that believes in her capacity to do good. Albeit, old habits die hard.

Shadowheart is practically a clean slate with the whole memory wiping though, so there could be some truth to what you said. As for Astarion, I suspect it might have more to do with the fact that he's an undead (not exactly fresh meat and blood, which are seemingly things Orin is obsessed with). Agree with the rest though.
What I hate about this is that it's the only path for Yenna to actually have some impact and dialogue, otherwise it's just "I brought my own pairing knife, now I just need some ingredients and..."
In my game, when Orin took Laezel she threatens Yenna. When i stop Orin/Laezel from threatening Yenna, she starts making soup even though she isn't kidnapped. That was the only other way I could find to get Yenna to move on from just talking about knives.
It makes absolutely no sense the companions act like they too died when Bhaal kills the durge.Bhaal only reclaimed his blood, which means only the durge should have died or even been able to be affected by the act.
I'm curious. How do you manage to keep companions bloodied from one location to another? I often see traces of combat (blood, dirt, etc) disappear, when they should otherwise be there.

Orin killing that poor cat is the worst of her crimes
