Sorry for the weird sync issues with my camera between 3:30 and 5:57. Also if you're a Maggie fan, check this out! ua-cam.com/video/hlIPoqZsopM/v-deo.htmlsi=U-Iid7Jzv0E8Xa0l
She was incredible as Orin. Definitely a memorable character/villain just from her voice alone let alone her questline/story throughout the game. Loving these interviews to get a peak behind the curtain for these voice actors
Orin's laugh still gives me goose bumps. It was the laugh more than anything else that made her really scary. 😄 She was raised in a cult where murder was normal, the more gruesome, the better. She couldn't turn out differently even if she wanted. When you're praised for doing a bad thing, you keep doing it. Don't recommend it in parenting manuals.
Listening to Maggie describe her creative process is so insightful. Using evil characters as a conduit for us to connect to darker emotions in a healthy way is such a brilliant approach and clearly shows in her performance.
Maggie was OUTSTANDING in the game. Bias wish - I REALLY hope you get Emma Gregory (Minthara) on soon. And if you do, ask her about her work in the 40k universe. She narrates several audio books and is *OUT-F'ING-STANDING*.
Ketheric Thorm - the fallen hero. He ultimately could not cope with loss, after a life of generosity, which led to the deepest resentment. Orin - corrupted from birth. The natural arc of interpersonal relationships became inverted for her. Pain is love and death is life. Gortash - the scared, wounded little boy that must control and dominate everyone around him as a defense
I don't think I ever found a fantasy over the top evil character scary before Orin. They always become too absurd for me to still be scary. Orin truly comes out as psychotic to me
I think it's a combination of a writer who understands that even for such a unhinged character you need to ground them in how they became that way, combined with a actor capable of understanding that concept and bring the layers behind them to the over the top presentation they have when you meet them ingame. And it seems Maggie definitely had the chops to pull that off.
"Dexterity of thought" I'm keeping this line. Maggie is incredibly erudite and out of all the characters, Orin's voice stuck in my head the most. Great interview!
As a player of the original games I find Sarevok scarier than Orin BECAUSE he is far less unhinged. Orin would probably eventually self destruct. Sarevok would not. Orin is far more horrifying, but Sarevok is scarier. If you understand what I mean. He would be able to hold it together until he actually became Bhaal. (And no I am not putting spoiler warnings on games from 1998).
Maggie managed to find the perfect balance between over-the-top lunacy and potentially realistic with her Orin performance. Orin was so enjoyably and deeply unsettling to me, I couldn't help but feel offput and creeped out. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT
Ascended Astarion and Orin. I want a Chaotic, sassy banter. Although, per DnD Lore, Vampirism aligns a character to Lawful evil. I don't know how their temperaments will align.
This interview was an 'absolute' delight to watch. Maggie is such a lovely person, it's hard to believe Orin`s lines came from her. Guess that just proves how amazing she is as an actress.
Late to this but you are an amazing interviewer. This was great, Maggie is so talented and well-spoken. It really feels like every member of the cast was comfortable and excited to share throughout the interviews - can’t stop watching them all!
I was already excited to play BG3 but when I realized Maggie was also there, omg my excitement went through the roof and after completing the game, I absolutely loved her performance.
great performance, got goose bumps every time Orin showed up. My favourite part with Orin was where the general is getting a painting done of him and Orin comes in as the guard, so epic
The painter's terrified but Gortash just kinda sighs like "Oh right, it's Orin, here to subject me to yet another of her stream-of-consciousness murder-logues..." :P
OMG she completely smashed it with her improvisation of Orin. That was soo good... and thank you for that interview! it was just great to listen to both of you. ^^
Some of her best work as Orin is easily missed. If you are playing as the Dark Urge and use talk to the dead on Orin's mother before speaking with Orin in the Bhaal temple, you get extra dialogue options that make her absolutely break down during the final confrontation. Maggie Robertson's performance in that scene was absolutely incredible.
I love what Maggie Robertson did with Orin, she really brought her to life. One of the few villains I enjoyed in the game. Thank you so much for your work !
imo Orin is the best character of this game.. theres so many good ones but orin crushed it for me. in every way edit: I think you crushed these interviews. great conversations, well composed, great questions and style.. thank you for these long interviews!
I'm sitting here listening and thinking Maggie is so sweet and then she goes into Orin and I actually flinch in my seat and recoil from the computer in fear. She is AWESOME.
The thing that makes a good villain story are the questions of "Why are they the way they are?" or "How did they get to this point?" The movies "Joker" and "Birds of Prey" (a bit less on the latter) make you ponder how many opportunities were there, along the way, where the right attention, the right love, or the right support could have steered them on an entirely different path. "The Baron" from "Captain America: Civil War" was the same way. If only the Avengers had stuck around for the clean up. They may not have been able to contain the violence away from civilians, but they could have done search and rescue and paid homage to any that died because of the fights.
Damn, I will watch this after I finish my playthrough! I'm in Act 3, but I have seen so little of Orin, I don't want to be spoiled one bit! Looking forward to seeing more of the character in-game, and then watching this video :P
ngl orin is my favourite non-companion npc of BG3... the design, the acting, the story, i just love it all!!!!!!!! thank you maggie for giving us such an iconic character
Great interview! Any chance we're getting one with Emma Gregory next? Unless I'm being terrible and forgetting someone, it's the last companion voice actor we're missing, right?
Orin was always seeking durge's attention and approval even after the betrayal. She wants so much for Durge to acknowledge her as superior, missing the fact that to actually be superior she would only need to stop seeking Durge's approval.
I absolutely loved Maggie's performance as Lady D, and it was such a surprise to find out she was playing Orin! I loved her performance and I think that she did an incredible job making Orin feel truly psychotic in the best way possible. Truly a captivating performance, and I can't wait to see what roles she takes on in the future!
There is a way Orin could have been romancible - it just should have led to a game over, 100% of the time. Man, I've loved these interviews, all the VAs are great, but Maggie seems REALLY SMART. Her verbocity, thoughtfulness, and the depth she understood the world and character in such a short time, she is the one I'd want to be besties with. (sorry neil)
The animation and disconcerting movements of Orin are so well done. Shapeshifting/transforming can be done well or not so well, but Orin’s very jerky and self imposed style is so fitting. The head lilt which then goes into the bone breaking and then finally her snapping her own neck to transform back to her own form is so horrific and perfect
I love Maggie she is a great voice actress, she always plays her characters so method acting Lady D she was amazing and Orin is so creepy but a great villain in Baldur's Gate especially the camp encounters with her while in the city.
Yes sir! No Sir! Slip and cut your throat, Sir! Orin's voice actor did a great job. Almost to the point i'd put them over JK Simmons' exceptional performance as Ketheric.
When i played durge for the first time without reading about the story, (spoilers below!!), i made her like a sister of Orin who would be like a rival, with white red hair n scars. imagine my surprise 😂😂 just too bad i can only have that reaction once haha
I didn't approach Orin as a person with their own will, it was a lost human, kind of like mortally ill to me. She had to die to protect everyone else in the world, I didn't even listen to her dialogue in my first playthrough (which I always roleplay as close to myself being in the world as possible), all I knew was I had to kill her at the first occasion. It was the same with Auntie Ethel
Sorry for the weird sync issues with my camera between 3:30 and 5:57.
Also if you're a Maggie fan, check this out! ua-cam.com/video/hlIPoqZsopM/v-deo.htmlsi=U-Iid7Jzv0E8Xa0l
Maggie looks exactly like Orin's disguise Elf character that shows up reporting to Gortash.
*Sighs* Duties... duties... duties... patrolling and saluting and following and bowing and scraping and "yes sir, no sir, rip and cut your throat sir"
or like that vampire lady from Romania. xD
No, that Lady does not look like her at all. Neither does Orin in her natural form. Just that disguise character does.@@njmfff
@@johjoh9270one of best quotes.
That face model is one of the faces you can chose from in character creation. Make her blonde and name her Magic Maggie 😅
Gortash: lawful evil, wants power and control
Ketheric: neutral evil, purely self-interested
Orin: chaotic evil, sadism for its own sake
also the gods they serve. it's pretty clear, idk why they didn't discuss this.
a good analysis.
"Yes sir, no sir, rip and tear your throat sir!" Is my most quoted BG3 line. Maggie did an amazing job as a murderhobo.
It's definitely Orin's best line. That scene went hard.
"DUTIES duties duties. Patrolling salUting and BOWING and scraping and YES sir no sir rip and tear your THROAT sir!" the tonation is fucking amazing
rip and cut*
@@seeker296 Understandable mistake
I went from feeling bad for that poor elf to being REALLY uncomfortable REALLY quick.
The fact her persona and normal voice is nothing like her characters really shows what an incredible actress she is
She was incredible as Orin. Definitely a memorable character/villain just from her voice alone let alone her questline/story throughout the game. Loving these interviews to get a peak behind the curtain for these voice actors

Which books does Emma Gregory narrate in the 40k universe?
@@andreaspavlou1533 The Saint Celestine book, and then she voices Lt Sulla in the Commissar Cain novels!
Orin is one of the most uniquely creepy characters in any game ever. The writing is phenomenal and Maggie's voice acting is next level.
Ketheric Thorm - the fallen hero. He ultimately could not cope with loss, after a life of generosity, which led to the deepest resentment. Orin - corrupted from birth. The natural arc of interpersonal relationships became inverted for her. Pain is love and death is life. Orin really made me feel uneasy during my first play-through. I let out a huge sigh of relief after I finished her arc. Incredible performance.
I don't think I ever found a fantasy over the top evil character scary before Orin. They always become too absurd for me to still be scary. Orin truly comes out as psychotic to me

That moment when you're talking to an NPC and then realize "Oh fuck, this is Orin fucking with me isn't it?" and then *Snap crackle pop* it's Orin
I was hoping you'd get Maggie on, Orin is so good!
Amazing when she keeps popping up out of nowhere haha!
"Dexterity of thought"

The way she just flips from Maggie to Orin on that line delivery omg!!! The FLEX!
Orin is a crazy good character. Maggie played her perfectly
Maggie managed to find the perfect balance between over-the-top lunacy and potentially realistic with her Orin performance.
Orin was so enjoyably and deeply unsettling to me, I couldn't help but feel offput and creeped out. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT
She is just amazing! Thanks for sharing the interviews with us all :)
Its always a good time with Maggie... all the love for her and her characters
Now Neil and maggie need to be companions in their next game together. Imagine the banters we'd get if Orin and Astarion were together in a party.
Ascended Astarion and Orin. I want a Chaotic, sassy banter. Although, per DnD Lore, Vampirism aligns a character to Lawful evil. I don't know how their temperaments will align.
This interview was an 'absolute' delight to watch.

I was waiting for this episode!!!!!
God, I was waiting for this one! I'm kinda Orin enjoyer and, Maggie, your voice performance was just exceptional!
Yes, been hoping you would do this one! Loved her character!
I was already excited to play BG3 but when I realized Maggie was also there, omg my excitement went through the roof and after completing the game, I absolutely loved her performance.
"His cryptbreath *sings* to my sinews"
Thanks for another amazing interview!❤️ But can't wait for Minthara's VA interview 😭
What a great interview. Maggie is a breath of fresh air!
I love her 😭❤
Thank you Maggie and Dan for sharing this with us!
Neil Newborn and her can be in every game, in my opinion! RE: Village reunion!
All the actors did such a fantastic job, I didn't even realize it was Maggie playing Orin until I watched the trailers and got spoiled a little.
Orin gave me a number of really intense jump-scares during Act 3. Such an amazing character.
Haha, I developed severe trust issues in act 3. I thought everyone was Orin. 😂
Finding Orin has become my new version of Where's Waldo, but with shape shifting and gore. 10/10 Mrs. Robertson killed it as Orin!
I loved all of the Chosen Three, I wish we could’ve seen and interacted with them more.
great performance, got goose bumps every time Orin showed up. My favourite part with Orin was where the general is getting a painting done of him and Orin comes in as the guard, so epic
The painter's terrified but Gortash just kinda sighs like "Oh right, it's Orin, here to subject me to yet another of her stream-of-consciousness murder-logues..." :P
BG3 storytelling is fantastic and in no small part thanks to the lovely cast and crew.
I love the clarity and insight she has inti her characters. She definitely is very passionate and professional about what she does
Just saw her for the first time in Act 2 in action... such a good performance!
The amazing voice acting and the character's ability to shapeshift is what makes Orin the Red such a great villain.
OMG she completely smashed it with her improvisation of Orin. That was soo good... and thank you for that interview! it was just great to listen to both of you. ^^
She actually looks like the elf Orin morphed into that goes to talk to Gortash in the cutscene of act 3.

Talented, entertaining, super intelligent and beautiful. Maggie is the GOAT from BG3 in my opinion. Thank you for your amazing skills!
I love her insights about everything, it really resonates
Omg!! I'm so happy to see her in here for the interview! : D (Haven't played village but damn she has some strong presence that I love! : ).
There is a ton of video interviews for the hero characters but the villians were flawless.
Orin is one of the few video game characters, maybe the only one, that has made me legitimately uncomfortable. Maggie did an amazing job.
When Maggie said Orin is like an onion I will now forevermore call her Onion the Red in game. 😂
I'm sitting here listening and thinking Maggie is so sweet and then she goes into Orin and I actually flinch in my seat and recoil from the computer in fear. She is AWESOME.
Always thank you for interview!
My favorite performance in Baldur's Gate, maybe in all gaming. I hope she gets hired Again again again again again!!!!
Lady D and Orin both dommy mommies!

What a brillian woman. What a brilliant actress. Orin was a perfectly sounded. Thank for you work, that is realy inspiring.

Bravo Maggie, amazing performance. My favorite of the three big bads.
really great, we need Minthara next!
her switching to Orin at 59 min is mind blowing, she is talented in a good big fat way!
Please get the voice actor for Raphael on the show! His voice work is some of the best in the game.
He is next. I believe he's on Reddit taking fan questions for the interview right now.
Maggie might be glad to know that Astarion is now wielding Orin's blades in my playthrough 😉

I love all the dead three.. they are truly remarkable and well played.
This was so goood, Maggie is great to learn about
Orin is indeed a special one... added to my "I can fix her" list
Oh no way I didn't know she was Orin it's so fitting and makes so much sense lol
Lady Dimitrescu is back
She really has such a pleasant voice. And as Orin, just fan-tas-tic!
I knew I recognized her from somewhere. She was in RE Village Alcina Dimitrescu!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Maggie’s become one of my favorite actors in the video game space

How does this woman manage to fit so much talent into one human
Hope to have Raphael's voice actor next!
she served as usual!
A+++ acting, I don't trust her IRL because she haunts my dreams now. KEKW
She did an amazing job as Orin. Also, she looks like the female version of Marilyn Manson lol
Wow, Maggie looks so sweet and kind to play such a freaking lunatic
There should be an Oran Romance option but if you choose it your Character Dies Permanently and is game over.
Thanks for awesome palyed character :D
Maggie is collecting dommy mommy roles like Thanos collecting infinity stones
She is so lovely!
