  • Just Evan and Katelyn here answering the questions you never asked, like will epoxy resin cook an egg?!?
    SAFETY NOTE! We had the garage well ventilated with fans while the epoxy cured and used a fume extractor when the epoxy got hot and there was more vapor. Also never sand partially cured epoxy and wear masks when sanding.

      Even if the egg did survive the heat it would probably be unedible due to epoxy fumes that leaked through the shell.

    This is ridiculous and hilarious. Also, that rolling flicker is from your LED lights being out of sync from your shutter speed. I had the same problem! I shoot at 24fps and use a constant shutter speed of 1/60 now and no flicker! Just figured you might want to know.

If you're using a bunch of epoxy, make sure you have some ventilation or wear an appropriate mask! Also, we forgot to add degrees in C on screen. To give a reference, 150F (the temp eggs need to reach to be cooked) is about 65C. Hope that helps!

      A fan, or fanatic, sometimes also termed aficionado or supporter, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody, such as a singer or band, a sports team, a genre, a politician, a book, a movie or an entertainer. Collectively, the fans of a particular object or person constitute its fanbase or fandom. They may show their enthusiasm in a variety of ways, such as by promoting the object of their interest, being members of a fan club, holding or participating in fan conventions, or writing fan mail. They may also engage in creative activities ("fan labor") such as creating fanzines, writing fan fiction, making memes or drawing fan art.

    A tip for future experiments! You can reuse hardened epoxy by simply adding it to a new batch and if they are the same color the scraps/chips of the old epoxy will combine with the new and become seemless (is the best way i can explain it? Haha) basically if you add old epoxy to new it’s like an easy filler so you don’t have to use more epoxy in the future. Something along those lines 😂

    LOL Oh you two Kill me ! I had no doubt it would cook that egg, I recently poured a Hybrid Vase using about 2 pints of Total Boat and Pressurized it, I worried it was going to melt through my mold when I could hardly touch my pressure pot due to the heat inside of it. Thumbs UP !

      Given the toxicity of epoxy, you might want to be careful about that... Eggshells are permeable, so the foil oven thing is probably much safer (though I still worry about the fumes). Love the video, though!

    That was a fun watch. Not surprised it worked, I’ve had some resins smoke in their containers from the thermic reaction. Would be cool to see a full egg just dropped in the resin hardboiled style. But would be much harder to open and eat for sure.

    A small tip or maybe a wish, please whenever you talk about temperatures, add a text to the screen with the corresponding Celsius value. It can save a lot of viewers some time and it always pleases me to see that the author thinks also of us non-USA subscribers ;-)

    That was great, but I was thinking about doing a hard "boiled" egg put directly into the epoxy. Probably leave just a little bit exposed to get the egg insides out easier.

      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 років тому +1

      that would be awesome to test!

    • @Skkonn
      @Skkonn 5 років тому

      @@EvanAndKatelyn Thinking about how to do this, perhaps spray the egg with some mold release or cover with aluminum foil so the epoxy doesn't stick directly to the egg. Then have a piece of cardboard in the middle with mold release so you can hopefully pull the two epoxy halves apart and out pops the egg.

I've done several videos adding a resin coating to my paintings and run into this chemical reaction issue when I try to mix enough epoxy resin for multiple artworks. Fun video. what a cool way to cook an egg !! rocked as always 😊. Btw a quick question (maybe its a dumb question) , does taking a larger proportion of hardener leads to a faster & aggressive reaction releasing more heat ?? which could reduce the cooking time. OR the result will be a lower heating due to lack of epoxy molecules to react with the hardener. what do you think??

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 років тому +1

      we've heard that more/less hardener can effect the curing time so it's a possibility, but it's not something we've tested ourselves 🤔🤔
