Haven't yet. Ran out of time. Needs doing. You cannot replace them with polybushes as they're a very different form of engineering. Too much movement for a solid bush.
Close call with the exhaust. It could have parted company on the motorway and that would have been all sorts of bad! Hope the new one turns up in time.
I doubt it would have failed without my intervention. The exhaust hanger could have though...
I suppose the shuffling of cars means that they are liable to be run for a few minutes and then shut off without reaching temperature. That is bad news for exhausts as the initial condensation does not evaporate off. My 2008 Chevrolet Spark still has its original exhaust with no repairs needed so far.
I generally try to avoid doing that for exactly that reason. Not always easy.
Poor Elly. Leave the exhaust off, give her a voice ;-)
I agree, a review showing all the quirks of a 2CV would be entertaining. I think that because I just recently watched the TFLclassics review of a 2CV, which I thoroughly enjoyed. See ua-cam.com/video/QfjQw7rBgsw/v-deo.html - "The Citroen 2CV Looks Like A Snail & Drives Like A Water Bed But Here’s Why It’s Awesome". I now understand how that gear change works!
It's definitely not your fault that the structurally unsound exhaust broke when you investigated the mounts. Motors are always a voyage of discovery. It's a peculiar thing just how we often blame ourselves for things out of our control. I've spent most of my life attempting to train myself not to!
I'd say that the fact that Elly is *your* 2CV is all the more reason for you to do a detailed presentation.
Are 2CV's easy to work on
Dare I say.... I think it sounded pretty good without an exhaust 😅😂
Oh that's not good Ian.
Will you be live streaming from the NEC this year? Previous ones have been immensely entertaining.
Hoping to Livestream 9am Friday morning, before the show opens.
At times you must be exhausted..... after what these cars put you through 👀🚗🇬🇧. Over here in Arizona it'll take 30/40 years for your exhaust system to get a couple of pinholes in it 😀........ that's IF you don't go modifying it in the first place 🚗.....
Contact UPnDown classics he would make a decent taylor made exhaust for Elly, probably minus the silencer section though.
Elly has told me she wants some Zoomie headers up through the bonnet, she dreams of being a racing car. 😁
To the uninitiated, sounds like a 720 to me.👍
Straight thru CV2 Yoooo
did the wof guys not noticed any weakness in the exhaust?
Yes, the tester noticed it and it was an official advisory. Would have held firm for a while had not someone started messing around with it...
I had to have my exhaust replaced recently at the cost of £175 as it had corroded and had a hole in it and was blowing my car is only 2010 Peugeot 207 ( because French ) lol 😂
