That little backstreet garage is very nice to see, literally a garage tucked into a corner between two houses. Always nice to see these little places going strong
Fun report from the road, really nice. Love the Marea and awesome to see many characters involved in the car action. Cool garage 'in the nook' too. Thank you HubNut, great vibe!
I'm watching this now in the comfort of my living room chair, with a soft blanket and a cup of tea...and in all seriousness, I'm genuinely overcome with happiness reliving the show. Have to also say, the arrival of all these cars the night before is practically something that's worth showing up just to observe in the surrounding public streets! Can't wait for your full show report Ian!
Great to catch up with you Ian, Matt & Tim on Friday. after 2 years doing 1 day I think I need to stay over and split it over 2 days as its just too much for a single day. Some lovely cars in the car park as well 😁 As soon a you said fiat Marea Weekend I knew it was Jim's.
It is nice to have a behind the scenes tour of the event. But it was great to see both Elly & Bella having a wash & brush up before the show. I must admit it certainly has been a long time since I last saw a Fiat Marea Weekend, what a great rare survivor.
My wife bought a weekender diesel when it was one year old, it was a really nice all round car to own.she was due a firms car so her firm bought it from her for her firms car. Double win👍
I bought a fiat brava 1.4 for £80. Elec windows/ electric sunroof ohc. Battered to death. Survived 3 yrs before gearbox went. Previous car 1.3 escort rotten as a peach clattery ohv tappetty engine, wind up windows both cars 1987. Fiat was far superior car in every way. Only fiat I owned but was a great smooth quiet little car
@@volt8684 I had a Fiat Bravo 1.4SX from new in 1996. I loved the way it looked and drove. Unfortunately it had to go after the gearbox went after just 4 and a half years with less than 30k on the clock. 😢
Very smile inducing! Great Marea content, if you thought the 1.6 was well equipped & entertaining, try an ELX 2.0 5-cylinder, if you can find one! That pre-street Velox/Cresta at the end was rather yummy.. I wonder if you could cadge a drive in that...
I used perv over Mareas when I owned my Tempra 1.4! Very nearly bought a W reg 1.6 100 saloon in 2002 for £5k when used car prices were very reasonable. Always had a thing for 'underdog' cars - that's why I'm subbed to HubNut! 😃 "Spandau Ballet Gold" 🤣
I'm SO pleased to see another fiat Marea weekend - I loved mine, despite it being a 1.6 petrol engine. It was a blue one, on a W. £2500 is a bit rich for me; despite it's 40K miles i feel it may be a bit too thirsty as I prefer a diesel now....
I loved my Marea weekend. It was a 105 TD so comfortable. The drop bumper was great for carrying long flat items. They could stick out the back but you still could close the hatch. You are always near where I live or work, the farm where our depot is located is 7 minutes from Ratcliffe. The Sheepies are just round the corner. My youngest was at comicon on Sunday.
We had a Marea 1600 in the family when I was a relative new driver, that really has the typically fiat wanna go faster driving style, real nice to drive, was bought as a few years old used car, first owner was a news magazine reporter so we thougt at the time, that it had learned to drive fast by its first owner :-) also remember it as our first car with alloys. Sadly most of them have been driven in the ground
I thought the roads looked familiar! Ratcliffe and Sheepy are 5 minutes from us (Atherstone) I've done the lane from Ratcliffe many times in an overloaded 1.0 Corsa and found out how small its discs are and what brake fade is 😋 That road gives your suspension a workout! Elly following you through the show was very Herbie, she was definitely watching you and muttering. I know she's not perfect but she just looks right 👍
If you like Fiat Mareas, head to the island of Capri (Italy). There is a fleet of Marra saloons that have been stretched and had their roofs cut off and replaced with a canvas Bimini-style roof, doing service as taxis. Dubious strength in a crash!
Damn you I am proper jealous of that Marea. Makes me miss my Brava 100 HSX the hatchback version. Such a lovely car to drive. It always threw people who got in it when they realised how low it was compared to say a focus.
Back in 1986 I valeted a very basic Audi 80 for the company fleet I worked for. (YTS!!) I vaguely remember, three or four out of five switches on the centre dashboard were blanking plugs. So some poor sales rep (or maybe "Junior Manager") had the badge, but none of the toys! Amazing to see a garage/Workshop set in a housing terrace. Eastbourne used to have a lot of those. Once upon a time people were happy to have little gaeages and workshops near where they lived.
I was really surprised to see lots of Marea's in Slovakia when I was there in May. Most looked to be in decent condition too, but we're obviously in daily use. I last drove a Marea at work back in 2006, with the 5 cylinder engine. Very quick but the handling was a bit interesting in tight bends at high speed
A classmate's dad had a Marea back in the day and she borrowed it for a weekend trip in 2005. On the way back it refused to go into first so she always had to set off in second. Once home, the problem disappeared and as far as I know never occurred again. Guess the car didn't like her 😀
That Marea is very similar to my 2001 Brava, interior is virtually identical I have have the same ever so 90s seat pattern! The 1.6 is a decent engine and very italian indeed, if you baby it you can get 50mpg or if you thrash it you can get an astonishing 105hp!
You may have not realised but when you did the wiper test on the Fiat you were virtually outside where the Reliant Factory used to be in Two Gates, Tamworth! The housing estate on the right off the mini roundabout is the old site, roads named in homage to Reliant. Tom Williams Way, Regal Close etc
Excellent little video, looks like a good weekend had by all and well done to Tim for taking Elly to the show. Was there a reason why Bella could not get on stand or was it just a mix up with the stand size?
If small, fuel-efficient station wagons, like the Marea, were available in the US, I'd be first in line to buy one. If the one you showed was left-hand drive, and in the US,...I'd be counting out hundred-dollar bills until I got to $2500 and still think I got the better part of the bargain!
Thumbs up for the Marea Weekend. Great car had a 1.9 turbo diesel. Great tow car, took my Fulvia race car to France, Italy and The Netherlands a number of times. Never had any problems and still did 40 m.p.g. Sold it at 160,000 still miss it.
Fiat Marea Weekend: only one left in my hometown; right around the corner she's always parking outside... I'm looking forward to your show review. Cheers - Martin
Ian! You didn't even give a nod to the Twingo parked next to the Sierra estate, the facelifted version of the Mk 2 which I had a sadly departed earlier version of. Still, looks a great time was had by all.
That Marea interior looks very familiar to this Bravo HGT driver. Only difference is I have no 'scallop' as has passenger airbag there and round instrument faces in the binnacle
It's amazing to see some of the cars at the show on your video, I was there on the Friday and visited you and Mr furious. I must say I was astonished by the number of people there on the first day, so much so that I never saw half of the cars you showed here. Good day though, I even had my first ever ride in a Rolls Royce over in hall 5.
You know you could actually drive two cars at once. Elly's light enough to go on a tow-car rig behind Bella (and no worries about brake servo not working in tow mode, which people seem to bleat about). Foxanne tows like a treat; more stable than any other trailer I've towed.
@@HubNut Yes, if there's always a helper at hand, that's great. I tend to fly somewhat solo through life though so it's proved very useful. Went to get my Vauxhall from London, left the Doblo behind, then returned in Foxanne and brought both back. Much easier, narrower and lighter than a trailer too.
All your cars are stars of your chanel and did l see furious driving and hubnut combining to review that Fiat Matt checked out the tea shelfery and you found a very small triangle of doom but no dribble of disappointment more comind car reviews please
Another interesting video Ian, am I right in thinking Fiat's "Weekend" range was that you could fold the seats down into a bed for a "Weekend" away and sleep in the car?
In Italy the Tempera, has a small, but cult following, the Marea is unloved in general. I drove a Marea TD, in Italy, it didn’t do anything terribly, but also didn’t do anything particularly well, it was very much a car purchased because of low cost deals, compared to its superior, but more expensive rivals. It was the high tide mark (pun intended) of Fiat’s lack of leadership.
Have you seen the 2 CV for sale at Mathewson's same colour as yours 45 .OOO miles totally immaculate inside and off be interesting to see what that makes a ready made one for you perhaps I would imagine not cheap sadly
Ian, cannot believe you passed right by the birthplace of foxanne in the fiat and didn't get a mention, (over the traffic lights after leaving Wilnecote MC Donald's!) Glad to see Tamworth featured though!
It was just to expensive this year i couldn't afford it ...that's two iv'e missed now ....Prices need to come down for next year or i can see less people attending .......£54.95 before i would even walked in the door so disappointed . The Coach show the week before was free entry ( albeit a trade show only ) and parking was free .....

What a lovely little garage at the start! A boon to any neighbourhood!
Always enjoy the Behind the scenes videos , really enjoyable once again & interesting so well done 👍👍

Superb content as always Ian. Thanks for keeping it clean and fun. Your enthusiasm is contagious old son.
Always good to see Furious Driving (Matt), Tim and HubNut all in one video! The perfect trifecta!
Great to see you guys behind the scenes having fun. That Marea looked sweet! No audible trim rattles either! Not bad for an ageing Italian car.
It really did feel brand new.

Great video the NEC looked awesome as usual gutted I couldnt make it, would have been great to meet you
Nice to see the cars leaving the show. Next year I will probably go to the classic motor show.
Thank u Ian 😘
Great video of two pals having a boys weekend!
Thanks to you all for the wonderful video greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Love the Fiat SW Mr HubNut if it had been an auto box I'd of had it, so much more practical than a SUV.
Wonderful !
Yep I can fully agree that was one hell of a show roll on next year 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🏻👌
Yes Ian, Hydrocarbons ARE Yummy 👍🚗😂! Great show, good times 👍.
Definitely why I prefer having the fuel filter somewhere else than in the engine bay. The fewer connections that can develop a leak there, the better.
