Nice video David. I've tested out my skytrak against GC Hawk and GC2 and it's within 1 or 2 percent in all metrics in probably 85-90 percent of the shots. If skytrak gets two clear pics of the ball it's as accurate as any of the high end monitors. On another 7-10 percent of the shots I get slight misreads in some areas like horizontal launch or spin but still passable. And on 1-2 percent of shots I get awful and very obvious misreads that you can quickly discount and move on from (such as 10000 backspin on a driver). It's a great unit overall. I noticed you noted things like the laser dot for ball placement as a positive in ease of setup when many point to it as a negative because the small range of where it can be placed. You could turn that into an unlearn poster.
for the shot plotting you need to select the shots you want to plot first from shot history with the checkbox on the left then it will show you the shot plots of the select shots

Hey David, quick question. I noticed on some videos you played outside, I assume on your verandah? What net do you use? And is it easy to put up / take down? To be honest there are positives to all the units and I don’t mean to make the choice any harder but I’d be happy with any of them. Seriously. BUT the massive advantage over skytrak is that it works like a quad, very easy to setup, use any ball, get measured data anywhere.

Given that you can find these for under $2k on the used market, it's hard to argue with. True camera based unit for about the same price as a Mevo+. Rapsodo actually wrote the tech behind Skytrak as well (AFAIK). Which makes one think, why does the MLM2 need a special ball if they already know how to handle a ball with no special markings. Figure it's either the cameras aren't nearly as sophisticated in the MLM2. Or they're just taking advantage of the additional sales from the RPT balls. Or both.
maybe to keep the mlm2pro affordable, you have to use a ball with markings. Otherwise, the mlm2pro might have cost too much to make and no one would buy it.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I get that. Just wondering if it would have been feasible to harness the Skytrak photo capability they already know very well, so that specially marked balls aren't needed.

In my setup, (same for MLM2PRO or R10) unit to ball is 6.5 feet and ball to screen/net is 8 feet. Both LMs seems to work consistently with that setup and the clubs that I can use (5W max - the 3W and D hit the garage door opener). The only limitation is that on the MLM2PRO impact view, if set the ball back any closer to the unit, I may not see see the very bottom of the club.

I love my Skytrak. I'm sure the MLM2 is close to the Skytrak's numbers (as tech has improved since the Skytrak came out) but until the MLM2 has GS Pro support (even if it's unoffiical) it will still be lacking in the 'home simulator' side of things... it all comes down to what people want... Once you've had GS Pro, it's hard to go back. Having said that. With the MLM2 coming out for $1000, Skytrak needs to come down in price a bit... $2000 is a fairer price.

I used zoom and the key stone feature of my projector with I believe the 4:3 ratio not 16:9
I will try this. Thanks@@davidmaxfieldgolf
Do you know if they're releasing a new unit, it's due a refresh?
There will be a skytrak 2 coming no doubt
My Skytrak freezes up or goes into sleep mode after a few hits. But this didn't start happening until after the latest update. Wondering what software or firmware your using?
I’ve never had that issue
Can you try it outside in the sun?
I have heard mixed results with it and honestly it was the main reason I went with the mlm2 pro instead
It would work just fine I assume but I’ll try
@David Maxfield Golf I hear if it gets anything close to direct sunlight on the camera(s) or sensor or whatever it takes a dive. My intention is 100% outdoor use (be it net or driving range) so I wasn't keen on spending 3x as much and have it be useless
@@theCycleReport The MLM2PRO may be the better option
@David Maxfield Golf f-ing hope so hahaha. Between the unit and 2 boxes of polka dot balls I'm invested haha
@@theCycleReport haha 😂
Skytrak is a great unit...the "any ball" thing is a huge deal....and Skytrak software is excellant!!!
I agree ☝️
Been using skytrak for the last 3 years, always is 3-4 mph more ball speed than gc quad, also misses a stack of shots and some of the reads you get just gives me no trust in it, so buying a rapsodo mlm 2pro at £1400 less
The Rapsodo is a great option also 😁
Hi Dave , that creamy seven iron you hit was it a fade then 😂
I've been looking at second hand units, you can pick them up for around £1000 here in blighty, £300 more than the rapsodo.
Again I've been very impressed by the videos I've seen but hear about aligning and missed shot issues.
Looking forward to see comparison between the mlm2 and r10!
Cheers pal , keep at it, you're a natural
Cheers Garry 😊
I love my Skytrak. I'm sure the MLM2 is close to the Skytrak's numbers (as tech has improved since the Skytrak came out) but until the MLM2 has GS Pro support (even if it's unoffiical) it will still be lacking in the 'home simulator' side of things... it all comes down to what people want... Once you've had GS Pro, it's hard to go back.
Having said that. With the MLM2 coming out for $1000, Skytrak needs to come down in price a bit... $2000 is a fairer price.
Potentially unless they release another version of the unit
@@davidmaxfieldgolf there is a rumour of this floating around
@@MikeSoutham I’m hoping it’s true!!
I was under the impression you need a gaming PC to use the Skytrack? Apparently I was mislead if you can take the unit to the range with you…
Yup, iPad is fine 😊
@@davidmaxfieldgolf oh snap! This changes everything for me then. I might get this over the Rapsodo 2 then since I already have the R10! That way I can play GSPro easier and also do putting! Who’d ever think this would be possible, not me! What a time to be alive!🏌🏽
I stand corrected, I’ll still need a gaming PC/laptop to run GS Pro. Still cool though lol
@@Blackcloud319 yes sorry GSPro requires a PC which is why I’ve never used it. I can’t even use it on a MacBook 💻 but you can get everything else on the iPad app with skytrak
@@davidmaxfieldgolf roger that yes I was a little too excited. Got ahead of myself lol. My neighbor had the Skytrack and GS Pro. He plays weekly in tournaments where the pros are playing. It’s really cool. I’ll get there one day, just not now as it’s not cheap to get it all setup lol.
@@Blackcloud319 very true, and that’s the downside I guess is the setup cost
Very hard to justify 3k compared to other units out there
It’s a full camera based unit though, so that’s always going to come with extra $$
Is that an AUTHENTIC Callaway hat?????
Definitely, never remove the silver sticker

How good!
Also firstttttttt comment 😝
First 👏
Overrated IMO at least. I had one for a little over a year. When it worked, it was just OK. But it didn't work more than it did. Network capabilities were dismal. You would hit a couple dozen shots and then it would just stop. You'd have to completely recycle the thing and reconnect to get it going again. And it wasn't the network - I checked the traffic at that spot and any other tested device worked without a hitch. Absolutely the worst support experience ever. No real assistance at all.
Maybe this next generation model will be better or I got some half assed Covid era build where they just passed everything through QA and had no interest in resolving issues given the units were flying off the shelf. Sold it, went with a Garmin R10 and haven't looked back.
I think the skytrak ST+ will shoot the lights out on a few competitors
no, not even close.
What do you mean? Not even close to being overrated ? 😁
@@davidmaxfieldgolf think about what iPhone was out when that unit come out. It's never been updated. You are far better off buying a used gc2
@@DaveFogel wait. You're main beef with skytrak is age and your solution is an even older unit?
@@mr.celebre6533 one of many, the delay hitting, the accuracy etc. Etc. Gc2 is solid and works with gspro.
@@DaveFogel if it’s still good and accurate plus it connects with the modern third party apps then it’s still an awesome unit
Hey, do you know if the awesome golf app can connect to the original SkyTrak?
Not as yet but it might be in the works
