Thank you for your honesty. It is so frustrating listening to most these other “Sales Women” not address / dismiss these issues. The long wavy/curly wigs are pretty much disposable. Period. You can only do so much. You can NOT wear them all day 12 hrs a day and have them last more than a week. And they say bring a wide tooth comb in your pocket and comb a few times throughout the day 😂😂😂😂😂 That only makes it so you can actively watch it deteriorate before your 👀
Thank you. I have had a lot of success with water and pin curls overnight and you can vary the size or use small sponge rollers if you want lift from the base.
Thanks so much for the demonstration. I have yet to try to steam my wigs. For some reason it really intimates me. So far I just used a hot brush on my somewhat curly wavy wigs. Raquel Welch wavy day and simmer and belletress dalgona 16 in particular. I just really concentrate on the ends and pick out like an already assembled curl/wave the way it came and try to follow that same pattern lightly with the brush a few times and then hold it in place a few seconds until it cooled off a little. This is time consuming but in the winter with a movie in the background and a glass of wine nearby it’s somewhat relaxing 😂
Good job Denise there are videos on caring for straight styles but not curly so I really appreciate you trying and showing us the process. Btw don't worry about the dogs we dog lovers love hearing and seeing them 😍
I look forward to an update on this wig. I want to know if regular steaming will help the wig overall. And perhaps, you’ll successfully recurl the back. Thanks for another informative video. Love it!
Thanks so much for this video. I'm sure there are more people out there like me who appreciate it. I think your "Editor's Pick" turned out quite well, and like you said, you can always revisit the sections that you think need a bit more wave/curl. I have been staring at a damaged Belle Tress "French Curl" wig on my wig stand for awhile now, wondering how to tackle it, and you've given me the confidence to give it a go with steam followed by a re-curl. I don't know if I will be able to replicate the original curls, but the way I see it, it's unwearable now, so any style will be an improvement.
I still have my Caruso Steam Curlers from over 30 years ago! I mostly used to wear wavy/curly HH wigs, and only used the steam curlers on them; I never used dry heat on my HH wigs, and they lasted for a very long time. Been starting to wear HF synthetic wigs these days, mostly Belle Tress, and I always go for curl/wave, since that makes me most comfortable and confident. I have a new Dalgona and Caliente and think I will try out the Caruso Steam Curlers on them when they start to feel even a little dry/stiff/clumpy. Thanks for a great video.
I have a Caliente that was getting "crispy" too. Last night I soaked it in cold water and a leave in conditioner for over an hour. Then I patted the excess water out with a towel and sprayed it with the same conditioner, a lot! Then hung it upside down to dry. When it was just a little damp still I put it on a wig stand and lightly sprayed it with silicone spray. Then scrunched with my hands and let it finish drying overnight. This morning it feels much softer and it restored some of the waves as well. Don't know if it was as bad as your wig though, but it was very dry and felt rough.
Hi Sharon did your experience hold for a while or just a couple days with the return of the "crispy" feeling ? Can you say what the leave-in conditioner you used ? Thanks.
@@MarinaLaroche Yes it has stayed nice and I have not had to do it again. I used the Fibonacci spray conditioner. I also use the Fibonacci shampoo. Got it on Amazon. Hairuwear Restore is also very good and I use it too.
Hi Denise, thank you for doing this video! I have Editor’s Pick Elite & I’m eventually going to be where you are right now. I have quite a few longer curly heat friendly wigs. I purchased a steamer but haven’t needed to use it yet. I’ll be watching your videos for encouragement. I appreciate you so much.
Hi. I thought your Editor’s Pick looked tons better once you were done. I really liked your demonstration especially since you were learning along with so many of us. I often take my wigs to my stylist and have her use her flat iron (I’m not good styling with them either) or hot iron to the ends. It takes her less than 30-45 seconds usually! She’s so fast!!! And I just add more $$ to her tip. I know not everyone can do that. But it helps in between pulling out my steamer. Thanks again for the demonstration 😊
I'm so discouraged as I had no idea that "all" my expensive hd wigs would need this much care!!! I waited too long and now my Caliente is beyond the the frizzies. I just washed it and sure not looking forward to this process 😢 i wish i had watched this video ages ago. No one told me any of this!!! Thank you for your honesty 😊
Thank you so much for this video! You must have been reading my mind. I've been struggling with whether or not to buy Trend by TressAllure. After seeing this video, I'm gonna go for it. Also, I am a Hashimoto Sister. Lots of love to you, let's all stay strong together. God bless! 🙏❤️💪
Thanks for this. I just ordered a couple of wavy and curly wigs, and now I've got a much better idea of how to tackle the maintenance. I just had a thought... I have a steam hot roller set and I'm wondering how that would do for resetting some curl.
Hey, Denise! It did look much better afterwards. I have the super curly, Alexandria with kinky, spiral curls and I was wondering what your thoughts are on one like that. I’m just now venturing out to HF and I love Alexandria.
Great Tip Tuesday. I could actually see the difference as it happened. Steam is probably the best way for curly fiber. Have you heard about L'ange le duo flat iron? I'm not good with flat irons either but I'm trying to learn because this flat iron cools as it heats. It great on heat friendly fibers. You don't have to wait for the fiber to cool. They are expensive but I got one for half price on Poshmark. It might be what you need for the ends. Even if you could only straighten the ends, there are curly styles with straight ends that look good. ❤️
Hi! I actually have both the Le Duo and the Le Duo Grande! I tried it the other day on my Belle Tress Peerless... it definitely had a significant learning curve!! TressAllure just came out with a similar product that they sent me to try as well, so I really hope I can get the technique down so I can make a video show it, but right now I am not very good with it. Hope you can get it down as well!!
Good tutorial, Denise, thank you. I recently bought a regular synthetic wig with a wave/loose curl in it and as I'm usually always a "straight hair" type of chick, I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to manage the upkeep of this new one(Rachel Lite by Jon Renau). x
Hi Denise. This video was very helpful. I have Gabor’s Soft and Subtle that I will be trying this technique. I have nothing to lose because I haven’t been wearing it as it is, and didn’t know what to do about it. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I have some questions….Can you use steam on a regular synthetic wig to change the part?? I have Estetica’s Kennedy and she will NOT stay away from my face. I know Estética wigs are not heat friendly, but I think I’ve watched your videos where you said you could use steam to change the part on non heat friendly wigs??? Also, what wig do you have on during this video?? The beautiful straight Bob and what color is it? The color is GORGEOUS!!! Again, thanks for all you do. Maybe one day I will get up the nerve to walk outside in one of my wigs 😌.
Hi! I am so sorry I never responded.. .YES, you can absolutely use steam to do that. The wig I am wearing is Straight Up with a Twist in Fiery Copper... one of my all time favorites!
I have Amber Rock. I am new to this. Like extremely new lol still not wearing them new ha anyways when I heard we were supposed to be taking heat to the heat friendly fibers I thought (since I'm naturally curly myself) of wetting the hair, adding conditioner, and then pixie diffusing then a cool air shot. But I haven't done this yet. I haven't even washed a wig yet lol
I do not recommend washing synthetic wigs before wearing... each wash shortens the life and so you want to wash as infrequently as possible. I do know some women who are uncomfortable wearing a wig before washing so it is up to you, but it isn't necessary. As for the heat method you described, I have never heard of that before! It sound interesting, though....
I have one but I find it difficult to curl with it, but I have always struggled to curl with a flat iron so that is no surprise. I have watched videos of women using it to curl and they make it look so easy so I guess I just need to practice more. I just got a new TressAllure product that is a LOT like the Le Duo... so I will practice and figure out the best way to use it and then make a video.
@@heywigsister what’s the name of the TressAllure one? I agree with you that the videos I watched the people made it look easy but then when I read the comments quite a few people said they had trouble using it. That’s part of the reason I haven’t bought one yet.
Hi! I'm so sorry I missed this question. You can absolutely add curl, but I find curling heat friendly wigs SUPER challenging and have not been able to master it.
You mentioned taking heat to the wigs after every couple.of wears. You don't wash every time do you ? What do you do if you have products in them? Thanks so.much
Hi Denise I know I'm off message here but I was wanting to hear more about your human hair wig by Emma Hairpieces for $469. How has that wig been holding up and is the care intensive? Been debating....never owned a human hair wig. Thank you!
From everything I've seen it is good to use one on even synthetic... I can't honestly say if it really matters, but since even the manufacturers say to use it then I think it is probably best... that said, I think it is only best for DRY heat, like that of a curling iron or a straightener or things like that. I do not think it is necessary when using steam.
I misspoke in the video, it is Raquel Welch Straight Up With a Twist in Fiery Copper... I corrected it in the description of the video once someone else called me out on it, lol. Sorry about that!
Thanks, Denise. There is a fellow YT wig sister, Michele Pearl that uses curl formers to revive her heat friendly wigs. It works pretty well: ua-cam.com/video/oYnQ2WcktnY/v-deo.html. Every little bit helps us!

instead of using a steamer can I just put it in a bathroom while someone is taking a shower so that the whole wig will be steamed?
I don't think the steam would be concentrated enough that way and won't make much of a difference, but doing that often might relax the curls.
