Just to not confuse anyone. 8:46 he's parenting the screw to the brackets that are parented to the bone with "Object (Keep Transform)" but is referring to it as "Keep Offset". It's still a really good tutorial for the lamp rigging.
How would you go about rigging the cable, as in the original short film. The cable in that is not realistic as such, so not easy to recreate with cloth effects, but bones seem to be extremely hard work. Any thoughts as the best way to attempt it?
@@Index3D Thanks for the reply. Yes, I think you may be right but I've not been able to get a good result. I tried bendy bones too. I'll have another with curves if you think that's the best approach.
@@Index3D Just as a quick update in case it helps anyone else. Curves are looking like the best solution. I'm controlling the hooks with a sine wave modifier
Hey guraldeep(That's your name i think?)i love your work , but i also want to make good rigs but am never successful in making a proper character rig , i get stuck at the weight paint , it gets a mess , i will love to see you address the problem , by they way came here by reddit link to see the work of a fellow Indian.........
Thank you for your kind words And yes i don't like weight painting either that why i only do hard surface rigging which doesn't required weight painting much. Btw my name is Gurlaldeep.
Dear Index 3D May I suggest that you rehearse before you record your videos. This tutorial seems disorganized and poorly explained. Please explain why you are building the bone chains and relationships as you are and which constraints and degrees og freedom you are trying to achieve. This kind of rig requires a better overall explanation.

I haven't seen a better channel for learning blender...amazing teacher truly 💯
I just gotta say. You helped me a lot with creating my first rigging ever with a similar lamp I created by myself. Thank you so much
Nicely explained the rigging. Thanks a lot Luxo for your effort and time and the free model.
Man i have an problem, 10:25 when i press Ctrl+P i have one only "Connected" and when i select Keep Offset in window "Make Parent" nothing happend
Hey man really good tutorial but would like some more explanation on why you do certain things. Thanks for video though
crazy tutorial thank u
At 14:10, I'm having a problem. The bottom IK won't move with the rest of the IK. Also, I don't have that relationship line with it.
Amazing!

Will have to simulate it or we can use curves
