  • ( tflcar.com/ ) From the design to the powertrain, technology and comfort, the 2021 Volvo XC60 Recharge plug-in hybrid is a great all-around car. But, we have one issue that would keep us from buying it, as Nathan explains.

    I just want to add, as a XC60 T8 R Design owner, after 23 months of driving, my overall mileage at 11,900 miles is 71.6 mpg. This is from day one. That is about 3 1/2 tank fill-ups of non-ethanal gas a year. Also, I attached a OBD port tool for info on the engine. The supercharged engine off idle (to 3500 rpm) shows 20 lbs. of boost, then continues with the Turbo only to 6000 rpm plus. When you have your foot into the throttle, the boost never goes above 20 lbs. My operating cost of fuel and electric is about $.075 per mile. A short drive review does not give you this type of info.

    I just got mine! She’s is a beauty and your right it’s like a rocket. The inside is beautiful! I’m crazy about this SUV. I love the easy recharge at night. I mostly drive on electric. It recharges in about 6 hours on a regular outlet in our garage. Plug it in at night before bed and it’s ready to go in the morning. The gas tank is still full hasn’t moved a notch. Thank you for the review.

    I only have one complaint about the Volvo’s. My wife has a S90 and it is amazing. There really isn’t anything bad except the engine is loud outside of the vehicle. Inside is super quite, but outside standing it is loud.

      You would think after 2 or 3 comments TFLnow would respond cause I have the same question. In any case, I just bought this car in crystal white almost fully loaded and I absolutely love it! WAAY better than a BMW and Merc. No other manufacturer makes a PHEV 2.0 liter with 400hp. When you stomp on the gas it just begs for the driver to go faster!

    I own a 2020 T8 R design and it is well made, almost all things are as you expect at your hand. The air suspension is a little firm. By driving in town at small distances I can use only electric mode. The only complain is the engine noise with supercharger. I see not many people consider this as a problem. If you use charging mode on the road the engine noise is more pronounced and of course the consumption is higher. Thus I am avoiding it.

    Okay, I recently cross-shopped for a new car and the XC40 was on the short list. I was so frustrated with this car during the test drive. The safety features were so intrusive and random that the car came "that close" from sending me in the ditch. I hate, hate, hate these safety features when they try to drive the car for you. Sad thing was: you had to go into 34 menus to turn them off. Spent the entire test drive arguing with the car instead of driving it.

    I own the Toyota RAV4 Prime SE (PHEV) and after owning it for a while, it is not worth the extra costs over the RAV4 Hybrid. The RAV4 Prime SE only gets 42 miles on electric and takes 5 hours to charge those 42 miles on an L2 charger (240V ). How much can you really do on only 42 miles, than wait 5 hours to recharge, you really don't get to use the electric that much. In actuality the RAV4 Hybrid gets the same mileage as the RAV4 Prime driving in hybrid mode which is most of the time. In this video, I heard this Volvo only gets ~20 miles electric, didn't catch how long does it take to charge, but less than 100 miles and without some type of fast charging, my opinion is the Plug In Hybrids are not worth the extra money. Please keep in mind that under the current EV tax break, you only receive the $7500 if you owe $7500 in taxes (if passed the new EV Tax Credits will be paid regardless of your end of year taxes). Luckily for me I just started a new business, so I will owe taxes this year...Bottom line, the vendors are doing a lot of hype on these PHEVs, trying to act like they are providing you value, but at the end of the day, it will only fleece you out of your money without the true benefits you would expect.

    • @emmcey
      @emmcey 2 роки тому

      Who doesn’t owe $7500 of federal income tax. If you are not paying that much in taxes then you simply can’t afford this vehicle.

    • @MrMarkwill62
      @MrMarkwill62 2 роки тому

      @@emmcey your too funny, I can afford it but I choose to make decisions in my best interests... Bottom line, this car is not worth the extra money over a regular hybrid... And I will be glad to sell it to a fool like you who has been fooled as I was by Toyota... Prices are good now..
      How much you want to buy it for $55k... I will give you a good price 😎

    • @MrMarkwill62
      @MrMarkwill62 2 роки тому

      @@emmcey also your an idiot that is not how the tax credit works. It is irrelevant of how much money you made. The only thing that is relevant is after you have done your taxes, at that point if you owe taxes the $7500 will be deducted from how much you OWE... IT WILL NOT BE GIVING TO YOU...IT WILL ONLY ALLEVIATE WHAT YOU OWE UP TO $7500... FEEL FREE TO READ UP ON IT 🥰

    • @emmcey
      @emmcey 2 роки тому

      @@MrMarkwill62 I will read up on it and simply adjust my federal tax withholding amount so I owe more than $7500 at the end of the year. And sorry if you spent $55k on a rav4 prime then you are the idiot.

    • @emmcey
      @emmcey 2 роки тому

      @@MrMarkwill62 You must have a federal tax liability in the year you purchase an electric car or plug-in hybrid to claim the tax credit. The tax liability must meet or exceed the amount of credit you're requesting. If, for example, you owe $6,000 in federal taxes, you can only claim a credit of $6,000 - even if the vehicle qualifies for a full $7,500 tax credit. It’s important not to confuse your federal tax liability with the size of the check you have to write by April 15, as your income tax liability also reflects any amounts withheld from your paycheck throughout the year.
