The "Do or do not there is no try" line made me realize that when Death Battle does a reference correctly, it becomes a real highlight of the episode. When a reference catches me off guard I pop off. Not like Thanos vs Darksied though where it was just "MCU reference"
The fact that they managed to get me to take these lines seriously in spite of how naturally goofy these characters' voices are is a testament to how good this episode is.
I’m glad that Yoda got the respect he deserves and while I’m sad he lost, I like how respectful the episode was to him and King Mickey, It’s a really great episode. Also yes, I am very interested in Shadow vs Ryuko.
It's always nice when characters show respect to each other and get it from the show itself. It really amps up the fight (i.e. All Might vs. Might Guy)
This is probably tied with Dante vs Bayonetta for my favorite season premiere, if not my absolute favorite. It has all the things I like. Good jokes that land and don't feel forced or cramped in, an amazing fight with a killer track, and a good wholesome vibe between the characters that we haven't seen since All Might vs Might Guy. Overall, a great way to kick off the season. Here's hoping they keep the ball rolling with this quality, and I especially hope they treat Shadow with the respect he deserves this upcoming episode.
Shadow deserves the respect this time, after all the shit he’s been through both in death battle and through character asasination by sega he needs a win. Also all hail shadow hasn’t been used in death battle yet so a mix between loose your way and that will be top tier
I don't watch Death Battle to experience good, clean, wholesome fun, but somehow, that's exactly what I got out of this episode. Major props to the crew for making this downright pleasant episode where somebody gets vaporized.
If this episode is any indication, we could honestly have a season that surpasses both 5 AND 6. I'm still reeling over the way they included Mickey saying "Wuh happa?" The camera angles used whenever Yoda's lightsaber got knocked away, the entire ultima speech, and two of the best voice performances in the show make this an easy contender for my top 10 as well. But it was a season premiere that wasn't Marvel vs DC. So 5/10.
I love the match-up because of how it handled the characters. Both Yoda and King Micky sound like if this wasn't a Death Battle, they'd be like best friends. That's my headcannon anyway.
I share your sentiments exactly. I lowkey might make a video on this episode, which I have never considered doing for a Death Battle before. Usually I'm good watching a Death Battle 2 or 3 times when it comes out, revisiting it in the future if I really enjoyed it. But I have already watched Yoda vs Mickey about 9 times now and I'm not even a little tired of it. This episode means so much to me, the worry of them screwing a character that means so much to me up, and they went and did him justice, this was one of the episodes that I feel respected the characters in question the most, such a relief, because it would have been so easy to go the "Greedy corporation owner" rout with Mickey. But they didn't and what that lead to is some of the best dialogue in any Death Battle. There is no try, they did it. They really did it.
I love the part with the yoda clones, it's an amazing reference to one of the greatest scenes in kingdom hearts, when I saw that I unironically jumped out of my chair in joy Great episode, but Dante vs Bayonetta is still my favorite premiere
I thought the episode was pretty good the first time I watched it, but after re-watches it easily makes it into my top 10. The episode gives both characters the justice they deserve with both funny and badass moments, Hearts of Light is a great track to listen to and fits as a backing track really well. The climax was phenomenal too, having me always hyped when Yoda uses his force clones with the music swelling in the background. As for Shadow vs Ryuko, it has me pretty excited and it has a ton of things that work for it, the personalities, music potential, animation potential, giving shadow justice, and callbacks to Shadows previous episodes Such a great start to the season so far
Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with the death Yoda, isn't really the kind of guy to go out in a brutal fashion, and Mickey, isn't the kind of person to give someone that kind of death.
I'm sure this episode is going to grow on me. There are a bunch of episodes that i really WANT to love, but just don't, even though i know they are great episodes. Examples of this are Obi-Wan Vs Kakashi, Hulk Vs Doomsday, Mario Vs Sonic 2018 etc. etc. I'm super scared that this could end up as one of those episodes, because i really enjoyed it. I guess only time will tell. However, i haven't been as hyped for an episode as i am for Shadow Vs Ryuko in a LONG time. It may be a stomp, but literally everything else about the matchup i love. Both characters are among my favourites ever, the track has the potential to be one of the best we've ever had, and it could also be one of the funniest we've had in a while too. I'm so, so excited for it, even though we all knew it was gonna happen before the season started anyway.
This episode was amazing! Its easily my favorite SFM episode and my second favorite season premiere, but it still isn't very far behind Dante vs Bayonetta. The animation was great and there was no noticeable jank unlike Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen and Ganon vs Dracula, the action was amazing, and overall it's one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. I'm glad that the SFM was able to make a huge comeback after Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen, and I'm glad that we finally have another season premiere that doesn't feel unspecial. 10/10. I'm really excited for the next episode, and I'm glad that Shadow will finally appear in an episode that isn't terrible.
@@blazethehedgehog1159 Yeah, but the stomp wasn't as obvious or as extreme, since Obi-Wan would have been screwed without Legends, some of his feats there are questionable to some (although I agree with them), and Kakashi has some planet level arguments along with several UNIVERSAL ones (I agree with neither of these). TL;DR: Obi-Wan vs Kakashi had room for debate whereas Shadow vs Ryuko doesn't.
I honestly thought this episode was quite good. And defenitly one of the better season premieres I'm very thankful there were no baby yoda, Disney owns Star wars, or Lego Yoda memes. The SFM was quite good as well and thousands of times better than Batboobs Vs Lesbian Spider. The matchup idea is quite unique aswell. Most of the jokes were passible, and some I thought were quite good. The fight itself was great, I'd essentially be repeating what you're saying. While I don't think this is a 10/10 it's still relatively close with a sexy 8/10. As for the next matchup I'm not too interested but it could still be enjoyable with the stuff. Overall I'd give Micheal Vs 👽 with a stick 8/10
Hopefully the track for Shadow vs Ryuko has I Am All of Me and Don't Lose Your Way bits in it and while the mu is not one of my most wanted mu because Shadow stomps, but it might be way better than Shadow last fight with Vegeta and Mewtwo but we will have to wait and see how the episode goes. Also for Yoda vs King Mickey I put it on my Top 10 as well on #6 for now
Honestly, I only thought this episode was pretty solid at first, but your review really just made me apreaciate it so much more. Though tbf, I usually have to let something marinate in my mind a little bit before I can fully judge its quality. Still like Dante vs Bayo more, but this episode is my second favorite premier.
1:29 YES! I loved how they brought that back. We haven't analysis segments that capture who the characters are at their core this well since season 2, with a few exceptions along the way
6:11 Yeah, now more than ever I realize that Sonic in VS debating is an absolute pain in the ass, but even if you use the lowest possible estimation for Shadow, he still stomps Ryuko, which honestly sucks. At least the music should be amazing
I think the reason Yoda was vaporized in a big explosion is because Disney could potentially sue for making their characters look bad, so Mickey doing something brutal that involves a lot of blood would be a no go. Which probably also explains why the analysis felt more like a great study of the characters. But yeah, they really hit it out of the park with this one. Little things like making the arena a flat open surface because an open field is where Yoda is supposedly at his best just makes me appreciate it so much more! I feel like fans of either character won’t be disappointed.
I don’t mind the death not being gory. A less brutal finisher fits this one a lot more. I just wish Ultima felt more impactful than it actually did. Yoda never audibly reacts to it and the animation doesn’t sell it being enough to vaporise himself.
It could’ve been to help with the fake out they do. Also seeing as Yoda was outclassed in that kind of power, maybe there wasn’t a reason for Ultima to go super crazy seeing as it didn’t even clash with anything, just powered through immediately. Presumably Yoda can still be killed or badly injured by blaster fire in his universe. So I’m pretty sold on Ultima taking him out either way and his silence could speak more as to how fast and overwhelming the attack was. That or they wanted to make it easier for people to edit in the LEGO Yoda death sound :,>
Fantastic episode, the only other small compliment I have that you didn't mention is that we're still stuck with those terrible Wiz and Boomstick season 7 designs, I was really hoping we would see the return of the old designs this season.
They've grown on me a lot, and they have been tweaked over time to look better. Still don't like how they looked in their first appearance in Miles vs Static tho
The ending made me tear up, specifically because of the call back to ReMind and Mickey's best moment in Kingdom Hearts so far. This fight was beautiful and both characters were treated with the respect and dignity that they deserved. The only downside of this is that I really want Star Wars to show up in Kingdom Hearts now and I am very aware of how unlikely that is. And now, to binge all of your videos since I just found your channel, amazing video.
the only question is, which star wars story would we use? or could we use multiple given how time is a wonky thing in the setting with the right manipulation
ok legit i was awe struck by how they treated these characters with respect using the charm of yoda's wise but funny master to mixed with mickey's king like respect i had a feeling yoda will fall but the way they made him fall made justice to giving mickey one last lesson before he died Surrender you should, The power of the force You have NOT! I can try but all i need IS THE LIGHT! "Do or do not there is not try" i rewatched it now and it nearly gave me tears nearly as much as all might vs might guy
I'll be honest, I was kinda hoping Shadow vs Ryuko wouldn't happen, especially since I'm pretty sure Shadow stomps, but at least some people got a match up they wanted. But if we're taking about the actually episode, then I agree, this episode was a really good premiere, and I really enjoyed it overall.
I had very very VERY little expectations for this DeathBattle, the matchup just didn’t make much sense to me and I wasn’t hyped. But I was pleasantly surprised
That episode was fucking amazing, easily the 2nd best season opener of all time. I still have Dante vs Bayo above it because I fucking love that episode to death, but Yoda vs Mickey is great and probably is in my top 10 episodes of all time
I wouldn't put it above Dante vs Bayonetta, but it is still amazing and easily the best SFM episode. Also, I'm excited for the end of Shadow's character arc.
I’m hyped for the rest of the season. I personally don’t believe it topped Dante vs Bayo, but that’s not a bad thing. The analysis summed up the combatants achievements and abilities so well, it warrants the comparison to All-Might vs Might Guy. The fight was really well done. The only issue I had was Mickey’s mouth not moving, at all. It was really weird. But the animation was smooth and both of them used a decent amount of powers in unique. Who was expecting the Yoda Clone Jutsu? Both of them acted like themselves, which was extra cool. And most of jokes landed, in both the analysis and the fight. Very good this episode is. 8-9 out of 10.
I more or less agree with your points, but the only thing that I wished they did was sell the fight to me better. I didn't get how the Light compared to the Force, and would've liked to see a bit more clarification on that much. Besides that, it's really good.
My favorite episodes may still be Shredder VS Silver Samurai and Ganondorf VS Dracula, because of how BRUTAL both of them are, but this is a Top 3 by me!
Hot diggy dog, that is a good episode to start the new season of DEATH BATTLE. Also, you get the ring master real name. So, there something. I hope we finally get to see Boomstick Dad in this season and Wiz VS Boomstick or Galactus vs Unicron as the Season 8 finale.
I'd definitely have to put this in my top 10-15 DB episodes, but not sure on the order yet. I would have to spend time and rewatch them all again. A vast majority of the early ones might be near the bottom of my full list, but that's mainly due to the earlier animations looking and feeling so janky to me. I don't blame them for it, but that's just how it is.
This episode was really good because you are imagine if this was the season finale? It would have worked well as it too especially the character development approach they did with Yoda.
Honestly I prefer having this as the season premiere. A match like this is exactly what I needed to reignite my passion for Death Battle after a good half of the episodes in season 7 tested that. It would’ve made for an excellent conclusion, but I think it works even better as a way to get me excited for the rest of the year.
I like the how yoda's death was It made the fake out work unlike in donkey kong vs knuckles and it let him down easy, because come on you didn't want to see yoda explode or some shit
@@theterminator546 no because Shrek the third was an insane drop of quality from Shrek2 to Shrek the third. So Shadow vs Ryuko should probably be like Shrek forever after being alright but not as good as the original.
I find it odd that of all the things that could be censored death battle, the thing that has to be censored wass ryuko (I definitely misspelled that) I understand why you did it, but it just feels odd.
I ironically love Shadow but it would be kinda funny to have his chaos blast ripped away from him again because of some bullshit hax like it did with mind manipulation or running out of rings. Unfortunately if that happens nobody is ever taking him seriously ever again even though he’s physically strong enough to pull the fucking moon at base. Let that sink in. Shadow is physically stronger than She Ra and by Death Battle’s standards Wonder Woman at base... AT BASE
Honestly, I think the tame and less detailed finish works for these two better than any death battle combatants. Both very lighthearted and morally good characters.
But really, yeah this is my 3rd favorite starting fiht so far. He-Man vs Lion-O is still uncontested and Bayo vs Dante is something something longer, but Mickey vs Yoda is amazing. M-I-C, K-E-Y- M-Oh-My-God-You’re-Dead is easily a great ending pun. ~~Ugh, fine. I guess you have a nice co~~

As long as Ryuko or Boomstick doesnt say Pogchamp it will be a success in my book
What if wiz or shadow says it
@@kingofhedgy9421 i cannot even begin to fathom the effect it will have on the cosmos
I love that u used the alphard shadow.
Wiz vs. boomstick is confirmed as the series finale
@@kingofhedgy9421 Series, not season
@@vergilsonofsparda2350 Ok
This episode is phenomenonal
I'd definitely have to put this in my top 10-15 DB episodes, but not sure on the order yet. I would have to spend time and rewatch them all again. A vast majority of the early ones might be near the bottom of my full list, but that's mainly due to the earlier animations looking and feeling so janky to me. I don't blame them for it, but that's just how it is.
I love this episode, This is the first Death Battle that has ever made me tear up during the climax. It was a glorious episode indeed
@@BiffWeed Yeah I can understand that. It’s even cool when you realize they were supposed to be “banned” from DB.
I still wish that the death was Mickey doing Ultima and stabbing Yoda in the middle of the move and then do the explosion
For ryuko vs shadow
Come on, who can you visually see losing that one?
I shouldn't be laughing at the rhyuko winning joke but I am 😂
Can you do a top 10 Death Battles?
I like the how yoda's death was
It made the fake out work unlike in donkey kong vs knuckles and it let him down easy, because come on you didn't want to see yoda explode or some shit
This is probably the only DB episode where one of my favorite characters dying didn't hurt me as much.
Pffft! The alpharad Shadow picture. Nice.
Death Battle's equivalent to Shrek The Third XD
You mean Shrek 2
@@theterminator546 no because Shrek the third was an insane drop of quality from Shrek2 to Shrek the third. So Shadow vs Ryuko should probably be like Shrek forever after being alright but not as good as the original.
@@Atom_dom_2004 Are you implying that Yoda VS Mickey sucks or are you saying that Shadow vs Ryuko is gonna be way better
@@theterminator546 I’m saying Shadow vs Mewtwo was shit and Shadow vs Ryuko will be better. Yoda vs Micky was god tier
@@Atom_dom_2004 I hadn’t gotten to that point of the video yet, sorry
So I'm going to take a guess that you're okay that Mickey Mouse versus Bugs Bunny is most likely not going to be in this season
It is now confirmed to be happening at some point in the future, so I'm not sad at all
@@BiffWeed oh I didn't know that but it's probably not going to happen this season but I could be wrong
Shadow vs Ryuuko should end with Saiyonara no matter who wins.
I couldn’t find tai long in this thumbnail
Tai Lung, where is?
I can't believe I forgot to include him I'm a fake fan
@@BiffWeed what's up with Tai Lung?
@@BiffWeed Finally a worthy openent, our battle will be legandary!
I find it odd that of all the things that could be censored death battle, the thing that has to be censored wass ryuko (I definitely misspelled that) I understand why you did it, but it just feels odd.
Ryuko being represented by a demonetisation symbol is just a running gag for me at this point
@@BiffWeed Oh ok, that makes sense
After watching the epsidoe i got one of your videos reccomended to me, got yourself a new sub
AT BASE
Did anyone realize mikdy said what happened at the fake out scene
I know it was just an explosion but to be honest I think that was the first explosion death I thought was awsome.
I love this episode my new favorite season premiere
Honestly, I think the tame and less detailed finish works for these two better than any death battle combatants. Both very lighthearted and morally good characters.
But really, yeah this is my 3rd favorite starting fiht so far. He-Man vs Lion-O is still uncontested and Bayo vs Dante is something something longer, but Mickey vs Yoda is amazing. M-I-C, K-E-Y- M-Oh-My-God-You’re-Dead is easily a great ending pun.
~~Ugh, fine. I guess you have a nice co~~
I have a sneaking suspicion that shadow vs ryuko will be hand drawn Also I'm really hopeful that it won't be a Sprite match
Luis has confirmed on Twitter it’s gonna be a sprite fight. He’s also said he likes it more than everything else he did last year. So if it’s in a similar league to Beerus vs Galaxia we’re in good hands
@@BiffWeed If Luis said it's in the same league as beerus vs galaxia this is going to be a great episode
@@BiffWeed Let's just hope Shadow gets some respect for once...
How do you feel about Tracer vs Wraith?
New sub here, i really love the content u make (the ones up to where u use ur real voice, i wasn't a big fan of the text to speech lol). I really hope to see more of your content from now on, keep it up!
This made ganondorf vs Dracula my 2nd favorite
I love this episode too this is beautiful
Good fight, it was. Good kill, it was not
Yoda showing up as a force ghost to both troll Mickey, and tell him not to worry and that he was fine made up for it though imo
I hope they do more deaths like Yoda’s most of the time the kills feel super out of character.
Good episode by It self but am I the lonely 1 who says this matchup makes no since. Like death Battles only reason for make fight seems to be that there short
Your Discord seems fun
anyone who thinks death battle jumped the shark NEEDS to see mickey vs yoda
My to 15 fights
15. Deadpool vs mask
14. Ben vs green lantern
13. Zuko vs todoroki
12. Mario vs sonic
11. Sasuke vs hieh
10. Hulk vs dooms day
9. Venom vs crona
8. All might vs might guy
7. Lex Luther vs doctor doom
6. Obiwan vs kakashi
5. Mob vs tatsumaki
4.Hulk vs broly
3. Flash vs sonic
2. Yoda vs Micky and Beerus vs galaxia
1. All rounds of goku vs. super man
I don't get the "No matter what I want them to say Ryuko wins" joke
Rank all marvel vs dc match
That video is in production actually. It’s already fully written, I just have to record whenever I have the time
Btw what do you think Saitama vs Homelander?
Saitama is my favourite character ever and I really love Homelander
But a fight between them does not sound fun in the slightest
@@BiffWeed it's probably one sided yeah, I don't know, I just thought it was better than superman or goku
@@missyummy1040 It has the same issue I have with every other "Saitama vs overpowered superhero" match, just with the verdict flipped the other way around
@@BiffWeed yeah... Would make a cool crossover though
It's sad when this one is better than Doctor Doom vs Darth f--king Vader.
Imagine that but for 17 minutes straight
Ahem it was 19 minutes
The original version for first members was 17 minutes, that’s the one my friends and I watched on Discord
DB uses SFM?!?..........
One of their 3D teams does. The other one uses Unreal Engine if I’m remembering right
A Lightsaber would of cut the ekeyblade in half total bullshit
A bit sad that no baby yoda was mentioned in the deathbattle episode and no lego yoda yell when yoda died
Honestly we didn't need it. In my opinion both memes are unfunny and are very forced ( pun intended )
wow the ending is not sad
