The Tango 2 has been modified to support a 2.4 GHz external module. And that changes a lot of the conclusions in this video. Watch my updated review at: ua-cam.com/video/BOqEKRiRDCk/v-deo.html
I'm a new FPV pilot currently building my first quad. I actually ordered a Tango 2 last week before watching this, but this has confirmed I made a good choice for my first radio. It's easy for me to commit to crossfire starting out with it. I like the simplicity/minimalist styling of the radio and feel like it'll be perfect for me. I can't wait to get it in the mail.
Another point is the cost of crossfire. I'm glad you can afford it. But crossfire Rx's are twice the price of normal rx's for micro builds. And you will never fly a whoop or micro more then than a few hundred ft away. So paying $40 a Rx compared to $10 is a deal breaker for most people that don't have deep pockets.
@@kelinryan8222 i think thats bollocks. The people with shallow pockets you refer too only grudge paying $30 for a receiver because they already splashed out for 10+ micros and cant justify spending the extra on crossfire receivers. If your sensible and only have 1 whoop like me then you only need one. I struggle to believe anyone in this hobby has pockets deep enough for multiple whoops but cant afford a $30 receiver, its just the perfect excuse to avoid buying into TBS.
@@420fpv8 I disagree completely. I love TBS for long range and it has its purpose for sure. But most people in this hobby have frsky, or other raidos and yes some have crossfire modules mostly for long range and bigger quads. Most whoops come as a bnf version. In frsky freesky spectrum but most don't have a TBS version so that means buying the whoop and an additional Rx to solder in If you only have crossfire. Also I have more then one whoop like alot of us cause it's fun having races in the basement with your friends. And I bought them all bnf frsky so why would I want to change them? Also it's easy to justify and own more then one whoop at $100 each and get a new quad, instead of $30-40 and only getting a receiver.or even why add and additional 1/3 cost. I love being able to add a module to the back of my radio and having the option crossfire if I want. But again it's added cost and not needed for most builds when I don't need the range.
@@kelinryan8222 Yeah, no buying the great XM+ receiver for $13 and using it on almost everything! Sure, if you only fly 3" and above the Tango 2 is great, if you only have a few drones and don't mind paying a ton for each receiver! You have to say HELL NO to any micros! Plus, buying a BNF or RTF is almost a thing of the past....yes, a few come as a crossfire option, but just a few.
The Tango 2, as a concept, has been growing on me. A full function radio that is small yet still feels light in the hands. With other ergonomic changes and a tiny yet effective screen, its over all brilliant. True tho that as a plane guy I like my trim tabs and just got rollers that I’m excited to use, but for the price point and reported capability it seems pretty boss.
As the upgrade version of the main board has come out and become available to use the multi protocol module, I really look forward to your review on this TX again.
@@erikpoephoofd He probably have a whoop with built-in FrSky D8 of FlySky receiver. Which again is now covered in Tango 2 with MPM multimodule and module bay add-on.
Just ordered this radio along with the Nazgul 5hd! This is my first ever fpv drone(I have a Mavic 2) and I'm super excited to get started! Thanks Joshua for all your informative videos, I feel a lot more confident in my purchases thanks to you!
Finally, at 20 minutes or so, after drooling all over the Tango 2 and it's joysticks, you come to the point; it only does Crossfire. I bought the Jumper T16 Pro exactly for this reason. The same reason I don't care what radio Trannis, Spektrum, Flysky, or any one else comes out with. I'm not getting locked into one companies protocols. Access is just a pain in the ass, Spektrum still thinks it can charge whatever, and TBS and Rapididfire and Gopro and DJI all want you to only buy their products, and shut everyone else out. They can all collectively kiss my rear. I still give the review a thumbs up, and the radio is a great design, with some true innovation. Too bad its proprariaty.
My approach to almost every review is to tell the positive things about the product before I tell the negative. If I start with the negative, then people will just tune out and not see the potential benefits.
Great honest review Joshua, The main reason I bought a Tango 2 was the fact that it came with Crossfire built in and it was small. When I'm flying my planes I always use my Futaba TX but I did not like the size of it for flying Quads, so when the Turnigy Evolution came out I thought great just the size I need for quads, and I really liked the little thing. However it wasn't long before I wanted a long range setup so I picked up the Nirvana. Now I looked at Crossfire but wow the prices where crazy, so I when for the R9M setup and got myself a load of R9mm receivers and never looked back because it's such a great TX and I never had any problems with it (lucky ! ) apart from I was right back to where I started a bloody big radio, but this time now I had the weight from the module on the back and a separate lipo to power it. So that's why I got the Tango 2 as soon as I sew it I new it was the TX for me, Small and very well made and comes with the Crossfire built in. As soon as I got it I picked it a bunch of TBS Nano's and started to rip out my R9MM's and I have to say I'm loving the Tango 2.. As for my Whoops well I still use the Turnigy Evo for them. However when it comes back to my planes I will always stick with Futaba. Well have to go now I have a load of R9m gear and a Nirvana to post on eBay.
Outstanding video! Just making the switch to fpv and really have been lost with soooooooo much information out there. So watching your videos helps a lot! Thank you so much
I am thinking to switch to it from the DJI controller as well. The DJI is too big and the gimbals do not feel right...kind of wobbly. Is there a huge difference between both controllers? How would you describe the difference of the gimbals?
@@airquads gimbal bare considerably "tighter" on the Tango which for me personally results in smoother flying The size difference is ridiculous, I can fit Tango 2 in my standard camera bag configuration while with DJI I had to rearrange everything Tango requires a bit of setup (there's a video called "replacing dji controller with tango 2", it goes over everything) but it's definitely worth it Oh and of course the range is unreal
Joshua Bardwell nailed it in this video at 21 minutes when he said that someone was going to come up with a way to attach external modules in the back. TBS was clearly listening to him.
Actually my perfect tango 2 options would be, basic 250mh no folding gimbals no case etc. $100-150. pro 1-2 w output with no folding gimbals and a case $150-200 and then folding gimbals as a purchasable extra. And platinum $200-300 with 1-2 w output with folding gimbals and a case with a lite type module bay like the xlite that would allow with a aftermarket part that could except a multi protocol module for non crossfire. Like everyone else is doing with their remotes to allow crossfire. Just backwards. You want to fly with their brand ok but you gotta put an ugly brick on the back of your awesomely small remote.
Those folding sticks fit right in with the overall portability and character of this tx.. its nowhere near as compact to pack if the sticks are poking out and vulnerable. I'm not having any issues with the range at 250mw - its a good fit between the low 100mw and the hummming battery sucking 500+mw from my Lite/X9D combo. But.. I'd certainly like to have a legit 500mw option.
I got a pro and love a lot it... size, feel, portability, battery, folding sticks feel very good and allow it to slip into the slot in my thinktank formerly occupied by my Fatsharks, now the DJI goggles go where the X9D/Lite used to be, win-win. It is sooo freaking nice to not lug around a big tx... But as I put more and more time on it I've come up with a wishlist: - Fix some programming quirks, none are significant but there's more than a couple - no highlight for enter/exit during bind, XF Nano menu has a refresh issue, etc... for the price it doesn't quite feel finished (and I guess its technically not until its "fork" is absorbed) - Reverse the scroll wheel, mine works backwards... scroll down to go up, up to go down, hunh? And dump the wheel entirely on v2. For next version.. - Larger screen, just a bit. - Up to 1W. - Replace the larger push switches with slide-to-click switches or something else thats nowhere near as easy to accidentally push. - Replace the ornery scroll wheel with 3 simple buttons, it works and we're used to it.
The one thing you didn't mention, which has been said in other videos, is the screen size. For some people, screen size is important for running custom Lua scripts, telemetry displays, GPS info, etc. Obviously for a small radio such as the Tango2, you can't have a large screen. So, like you said, this radio is not for everyone.
I never like the tango 1 Soo tango 2 i was open minded to what could be made again thank you JB for being straight up about all the products you review 🙌🏽😎
Yup, they definitely got the compact design right. I think a little wider would have been better, maybe 1/2 inch as I'm a hybrid pincher. But after a few packs getting used to & adjusting to it, I love it! My poor ol' X9D got the silent treatment. I opted for Standard over Pro as they're identical except for the gimbles which I feel the foldable gimble sticks are subject to wear & tear issues. It's gonna save so much space & weight when travelling 😍
I bought the tango 2 and at first was pretty impressed with the size and feel. Setup went ok but it did freeze twice while setting up the input switches and to unfreeze it i had ro hold the off button for about 20 sec. Come race day it was the worst radio ever, could not see the screen in sun light, had nothing but failsafes on the start block, was good while flying but if i crashed it would lose connection too. I thumb on the left and pinch on the right and when actually flying it just wasnt comfortable anymore. The gimbles were perfect size as i struggled for full throw on the taranis. So after my first experience on a race day it went straight up forsale! Dont get me wrong i loved the whole idea of this radio and i am a tbs fanboy but it just didnt work for me!😪
Nice to hear/see real world consumer feedback for this radio over reviewer info, And hear the short comings of this radio. Because no reviewer is gonna honestly say this thing is garbage or they won't be reviewing products much longer. But this kind of information is huge to someone about to drop $200 on a product.
Your transmitter is definitely defective and you better send it back to TBS for repair, instead of sale it to poor guy will not know he got a defective unit too.
@@jackfpv8904 its not defective, works fine when there is only a few people flying. Not sure if you race but that is always an issue on race day with crossfire anywhere, hence why they have settings for races. Even more so where we were next to a school with lots of rf. There were a few people that day that had fail safe issues. And they werent using a tango. No reviewer has used one in race conditions on a race day. It is a known issue with crossfire when there is lots of pilots next to each other with crossfire. Its fine once you take off usually. But it is something tbs has been trying to over come by letting you choose 150hz locked etc.
@@raphaelpirker3406 honestly i dont think there is a fault with the unit cause quite a few people were having issues on the day and they were running the micro tx in taranis. It was at a spot we dont usually race and it was right next door to a school with lots of rf. I had flown it the day before just freestyling with a few mates and didnt have one issue. I love the idea of the radio i just couldnt get in a comfortable position, i am real fussy on being able to stand and hold radios a certain way and in the end i couldnt get in a position i liked. But wow i am impressed you have reached out to me personally and i do love tbs gear! I have my very first unify pro from nearly 3 years ago and its still going strong!
I fly in a very mountainous area with noise at a reasonably high level. I have tried and used UHF, R9 and Crossfire. The only unit that has never had a fail safe is crossfire. I have just given my R9 equipment away due to no having faith in it. I have been able to purchase a Tango 2 and use it with Eagletree Vector for relatively long range ( 5 km) and have yet to have any issues. Also it is fair to mention that I did have an issue with the Tango 2 SD card installed. The support desk (Mike) was fantastic with options and we sorted the issue. That has done it for me. Im sold, it is a great product line that could save you lots of dollars in the long run and this is coming rom a guy that has seen planes (2 off ) simply fly away.
Josh, i live just south of Macon, Ga. I am chomping at the bit to get into fpv quads (i currently only own a mavic mini). I really appreciate your no nonsense style of video. Thank you for the wealth of info you provide the layperson, like myself. I will be purchasing my first fpv set up within the month (tax monies to the rescue). I wondered if you knew anyone in my area that i could link up with/pester in order to learn a bit more from direct first hand experience. Would absolutely even be willing to make a trip up to Knoxville if you're ever hosting an event in your neck of the woods. Thanks again for all you do. -- Josh S.
@@JoshuaBardwell thank you.... honestly i felt a bit silly even reaching out to you in this manner, but somehow i just knew you'd be gracious enough to help point me in a helpful direction. I will give him a shout and see what happens. Again, i really appreciate you taking a moment to advise me.
I love mine and wasn't sure how I'd like it coming from old school big ass Taranis and I didn't like the Tango v1 either. The weight of this remote is what I love the most, then having the screen to use makes programing it a dream come true. Plus they have amazing updates and easy to do with Agent X. TBS for LIFE !!!
They could have added some sort of ultra proprietary module bay that only they had the mold for a multimodule and I'm betting most of us would be happy about that.....crossfire only is a big fail and only Fanboys will say otherwise
@@PortalFPV they made fake of everything. How ultra proprietary it could be??? This all about Frsky got to TBS long range territory with R9. That's why TBS want revenge. T16 pulls X9D fans. Tango2 will do the same with X-lite fans. Many people will switch.
@@PortalFPVYour so wrong I never wanted crossfire because of the price, I have been using the R9m "BUT" no more I picked up the Tango 2 the other day and I love it, got myself a bunch of TBS Nano's and ripping out all my R9mm receivers, so I'm as new as can be to Crossfire so you can't call me a Fanboy, wait a min yes you can if you want because I'm loving the TBS Tango 2 with Crossfire "Now"
Already done. Current Tango 2 came with v3 board having an extension connector. Then you can order module bay add-on and MPM multimodule for this radio so 2.4 GHz protocols are now fully covered.
Indeed freakin good little radio for freestyle quad pilot. I don't need all 50 km of range during running around bushes, but the point is that this radios is capable to cover those bushes around me without sudden failsafe. Will order it when my local RC dealer will return from vacation. FYI: Tango 2 radio now have MPM multimodule with module bay addon. Not so hard to add. And you will be able to control all your existing 2.4 GHz FrSky/FlySky/etc. herd again.
I thought the exact same about my X9d/Lite combo... until I realized the Tango 2 will fit in a jacket pocket and still feel good in the hands while running a respectable Crossfire connection. The Tango2 has a permanent spot in my pack, but I'm not selling my Taranis either.
My favourite radio. I use it 90% of time. The only thing I miss on it is a knob or slider for throttle scaling, but I can always go to smart audio... Also now, that Tracer is here, it would be cool to see a Tracer version of it, or even 2in1, but with two modules and antennas it would no longer be so compact...
I Used the sf 2 position switch that’s on the teranis plus ... the radio had gotten ran by f350 the switch was still good so I removed the switch out the teranis I took the switch off the teranis board. I removed the tx16 sf switch switch is actually a two switches so I removed the old sf switch off the tx16 board and in installed the teranis plus switch on the tx16 board. It would fit in the tx16 so I installed the board with out the switch and soldered the board in the tx16 then I made the teranis plus switch fit back into the radio ... I was able to slide the three pins on the switch right into the three holes on the board and I soldered teranis switch inside the tx 16 radio.. I had to use the teranis plus silver screw bolt.. I couldn’t use the tx16 bolt on the teranis switch.
Some are new kids that cant afford much and some are retired guys who can buy what is really good to start with. Just say what is good for everyone and what is good for if you have a budged that is very limited.
Right?! Just unexpectedly quit my job (health concerns) and now pursuing my own company... Dead in the water on FPV at the moment U_U, feels like i died little... and then there is the FAA O_O
I have the tbs tango 1 (fpv) and I was really considering this with the portability and now I’m using the dji goggles I won’t need the fpv screen BUT the only thing which stopped me going for it was I would rather have switches than those buttons for things like arm switch I’d be worried in simply pressing the button to disarm it in flight accidentally...
It's for new people coming in. Easy switch from video games. I fly mode 3... video game guy.... I've been waiting 2 1/2 years for something like this.. don't like big controllers. Let's play a big controllers around if people want that. This is for the people who don't ... and I appreciate it. Great vid JB. 👍
Bro for your own benefit learn mode2 .it Will help so much moving forward it's not even funny. Yes jimi Hendrix played backwards and upside down. But I'd never encourage someone to learn that way. What feels comfortable at first with no experience isn't always the route.
the only thing missing from this radio now is a volume control - Ive tried various open TX programming different switch settings to control volume (sticks, roller, etc) but they need a dedicated potentiometer for volume IMO - still a near perfect radio
I do wish it had a multi protocol module built in. It has to affect sales, so I was a bit surprised when I read that. that said... I will still get one, as I pretty much only fly crossfire when I head out to fly. After a few failsafe I have converted over. I will still have my X9D for micros mostly in/around my house.
A slider/knob is great (necessary!) for adjustable throttle cut, for quads... No physical trim switch for fixed wing. No module bay for flying, most of what I own. I don't want two radios. And this doesn't do 1 Watt. So the original X-Lite is still the winner for me... It's a shame, because I'm a thumber, and a smaller radio with folding gimbals and low pro switches speaks heavily to me. But I fly toy grade planes, whoops and so on. I need a MPM of some sort.
I've seen oh so many videos about FPV during the last weeks. Eventually, I've started trusting your videos more than the others. While watching this, I was on a website, found on google, called "fpvknowitall.com", and suddenly, ten minutes ago.. I've started having a strange feeling.. Because everything you were saying was matching the webiste.. mmhh.. clicked on "Contact me", I've even recognized your house garden, and then the email.. Joshua!! :D This is how little internet is.. oh right let's be fair, you're doing a great work. Now I know to who I can send my email full of newbie questions!! :D
Awesome! I'm still rocking the thinktank helipak and yes it's got the kitchen sink in it ! ! ! Some day I'll make a micro pack for stop and drop ripping ...... some day 😅 glad to hear your having fun and enjoying the TX.
Joshua, I'm sure by now you've seen Bruce Simpson flying a micro quad through the use of a simple repeater/converter setup. I've had great success doing the same for one of my 5" freestyle quads.
Them three position switches look like they would have been easier to reach if they were turned 90 degrees. So that you move in and out to operate them instead of front to back.
Jeepers I really like the simplicity of the DJI TX ! IF ONLY Dji had used these switch buttons ..and this antenna .... But I do have a pile of crsf rx I have already taken out doing DJI conversions .. So now what do I do with Tango 1 ? QX7 X-Lite And that little white/black tx fromnthree years ago ? And my micro and jumbo crsf modules ?? Damn
I am a total beginner, ready to upgrade from my Tinyhawk 2 RTF. My ultimate goal is to fly long(ish) range cinematic FPV. I dream of having a set up I can carry with me hiking/backpacking/snowshoeing and get some great shots. I’m currently considering the Geprc Cinequeen with Tarsier duel cams. It even comes with a Crossfire Rx BNF option! The compact size and the built in Crossfire is what is attracting me to the Tango 2. I am thinking I could also pick up a BetaFPV LiteRadio2 for when I add non-Crossfire rigs for closer range flying. Even with the two separate purchases I’m still at about a bit over $200 (I’m not interested in the Pro version) and will have two compact Txs I can throw in a bag or pack for a trip, depending on my needs. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!
Hi! Please help me! On my tango gps coordinates are displayed in the format of degrees, minutes, seconds... and on dji glasses in decimal format. Is it possible to somehow configure tango so that the sensor outputs in decimal format too?
My x9D plus gave up yesterday. I was looking for an alternate. I am not a joystick person so I felt this has a different ergonomic not meant for me. Went for T16 pro. Hope I made the right choice!
I have a qx7 and a x-lite i got for its size. Since then i got a crossfire micro. so far ive not found a converter that i feel comfortable plugin in and out all the time. i have a multi protocol module that lives in their, and just use the qx7 with the crossfire. . . I think im gonna get one of these. I didint really like the look of it, i thought it looked like a toy, but i would like to have something small that i can use with crossfire, thanks josh
Hi thanks for the review I’m between Tango 2 pro vs DJI fav controller. They said crossfire has a greater range but does it work while it related to the video feed in dji goggles? Long range without picture! Please I need help with this i don’t wanna regret after buying the dji controller
Crsf can be put on toothpicks and micros (see larva x shipped with crsf). So Tango 2 is a summer radio (black is going to be nice and warm in the hands...), whilst jumper/frsky etc. are winter-whoop radios...? Tango 2 seems to be a great radio. What a shame about not supporting other protocols! 😭
Josh I have the jumper T12 and tried setting it up in liftoff but having problems trying to get the sticks to settle in the calibration is it better to use the phono plugged in to the mic jack or better to use usb to phono connection I don't have any problems when using my freerider everything it's completely solid and stable but on liftoff throttle doesn't stop at 0 throttle and slightly rolling lol and not getting full control of the sticks and finding it hard to keep in the air hehe I can even get the chance to rip round your yard & house and freestyle in your garden and see if your looking out your window watching me rip up your yard pmfsl :-D
The phono connector will always introduce a ton of jitter in the signal. The T12 should be able to plug directly in to USB on your computer since it runs OpenTX. It will pop up a dialog box asking whether you want mass storage or joystick. Pick joystick.
Form factor, designed by FPV pilots, no case needed, fits in small bags and doesn’t look like a TX I was flying planes with 25 years ago, the Nirvana is still the best TX IMO.
I don't think that would work. as far as I understand momentary switches. Just like a video game controller the button send a pulse while depressed but not the rest of the time. They don't stay on. So unless you were going to fly while holding the button the whole time it wouldn't work.
@@mrpickles2170 I see what you mean... it's Not a bad idea. But would be alot more complicated I think that's why they went for the 2 and 3 position switches they did.
@@TexasWaters Also really enjoy the swappable modules to fly anything including xfire, swappable batteries, excellent gimbles, objectively good ergonomics, short tactile switches, trim switches, and cheaper than tango 2...
Sorry a noob question. if i use 1200MW hack on the dji radio. Will that mean that it will have a better range than my Tango 2 ? I watched some videos and i thought the main reason for Tango 2 is a better range? doesnt Tango 2 have max 500MW?

Fantastic review, Joshua! 😃 To be honest, I didn't like the trim switches either, but the fact that I couldn't put a multiprotocol module into it... Well, that's the deal breaker for me. 😕 Anyway, I'm going to stay with my X9D and as soon as I can I'm going to get the Crossfire micro module. 😊
I think I really like that transmitter. I do prefer using in-flight adjustments for pid tuning which eats up about 3 switches, so that might be cramped, but i bet i could get it. probably wont buy one though, my old spektrum is still working fine.
Nice job jb! I agree with everything and yeah, why not a module bay or even pins or anything. The ability for some to use mp or full cf over .5$ of plastic and a few pin holes sounds like a huge mistake and will cost them alot I think. I'm looking for a new radio and love the idea of built in cf but I've built trust in the frsky 2.4 for racing and have been held up by alot of pilots struggling with Cf on the line. So yeah this is a deal breaker. It's the same shame that I cant fly anything but hd birds with my dji controller. I'm tired of lugging around 2 sets of goggles and controllers just to fly all my birds.
How fast are the two position buttons? Seems like if you put arm/disarm there it would not be instantaneous because when you press it i assume it will send a signal when released, not while pressing it down or atleast thats how i have usually seen spring loaded toggle buttons work.
Tango 2 End points not wanting to move on betaflight through the radio. CLI commands for end points will not set my throttle limit correctly...? Changes, but still off.

My approach to almost every review is to tell the positive things about the product before I tell the negative. If I start with the negative, then people will just tune out and not see the potential benefits.
Can’t you run multi-protocol modules on almost all of those brands?
Proprietary
WORD
You got that on point

How much i want for ur r9m stuff?

Outstanding video! Just making the switch to fpv and really have been lost with soooooooo much information out there. So watching your videos helps a lot! Thank you so much
Just did my first flight with Tango 2 switching over from DJI controller. This thing is incredible 😌
I am thinking to switch to it from the DJI controller as well. The DJI is too big and the gimbals do not feel right...kind of wobbly. Is there a huge difference between both controllers? How would you describe the difference of the gimbals?
@@airquads gimbal bare considerably "tighter" on the Tango which for me personally results in smoother flying
The size difference is ridiculous, I can fit Tango 2 in my standard camera bag configuration while with DJI I had to rearrange everything
Tango requires a bit of setup (there's a video called "replacing dji controller with tango 2", it goes over everything) but it's definitely worth it
Oh and of course the range is unreal
Joshua Bardwell nailed it in this video at 21 minutes when he said that someone was going to come up with a way to attach external modules in the back. TBS was clearly listening to him.
Same thought, watching it today
I just finished switching over to the JumperT-16, crossfire module and all.. I am now seriously considering buying this radio..
Michael Johnson me too, especially when I want to take a smaller quad with me.
Tango 2 is the Best for Some (MOSTLY... Freestyle/Racing Pilot....) Thank you for Good Review Joshua...!!
Thank you for the review. Looking to buy my first. Love your channel.
IMO they should of made the "pro" version with 500mw ... maybe in the future..?
No doubt. I'd trade the folding gimbals for 1-2w output of the crossfire lite anyday of the week.
If they bring out a Tango 2 Mega with multiprotocol - I'm buying!!
Thanks so much for your in depth reviews! I learn so much and understand more about how products work so I can make the most informed decisions.
Just got my pro and I'm very very surprised..ergonomics, built, feel and size make this radio phenomenal... oh I can't wait to paint my clear shell :)
You got me all excited about this being my daily driver too, then drop the Crossfire-only on me late in the video. Ouch.
But as I put more and more time on it I've come up with a wishlist:
- Fix some programming quirks, none are significant but there's more than a couple - no highlight for enter/exit during bind, XF Nano menu has a refresh issue, etc... for the price it doesn't quite feel finished (and I guess its technically not until its "fork" is absorbed)
- Reverse the scroll wheel, mine works backwards... scroll down to go up, up to go down, hunh? And dump the wheel entirely on v2.
For next version..
- Larger screen, just a bit.
- Up to 1W.
- Replace the larger push switches with slide-to-click switches or something else thats nowhere near as easy to accidentally push.
- Replace the ornery scroll wheel with 3 simple buttons, it works and we're used to it.
Can you tell me how can I use tango 2 with pixhawk???
The one thing you didn't mention, which has been said in other videos, is the screen size. For some people, screen size is important for running custom Lua scripts, telemetry displays, GPS info, etc. Obviously for a small radio such as the Tango2, you can't have a large screen. So, like you said, this radio is not for everyone.
He already mentioned that this radio is for people who simply went outside to fly freestyle/racing without thinking about GPS etc. gizmos.
Damnit Joshua! I thought I had convinced myself to pass on the Tango 2 because I prefer to pinch. Well not anymore....ordered.
@@petermcgill7356 please open up a ticket and let us know. definitely sounds like something isn't working right.
I have my very first unify pro from nearly 3 years ago and its still going strong!
anything even smaller than the Xlite pro is worth my time regardless!
I never could trust Carney folk. Small hands.....
a video discussing the latency of CRSFshot and the other various RC protocols available nowadays would interesting.
-- Josh S.
There are tons of pilots in Atlanta. Much closer to Macon than Knoxville.
@@JoshuaBardwell indeed... i will try to make a connection with one of them. Thanks again, sir!!!

They forgot to add a module bay. Love your content, keep it up man, you rock.
@NabiyFPV I like my whoops. They don't need it.
Would be perfect to have lite module bay for lite multiprotocol module.
@@PortalFPVYour so wrong I never wanted crossfire because of the price, I have been using the R9m "BUT" no more I picked up the Tango 2 the other day and I love it, got myself a bunch of TBS Nano's and ripping out all my R9mm receivers, so I'm as new as can be to Crossfire so you can't call me a Fanboy, wait a min yes you can if you want because I'm loving the TBS Tango 2 with Crossfire "Now"
If they do a second gen all i would ask for is a small module bay in the back like the xlite has, everything else about the radio i love.
Already done. Current Tango 2 came with v3 board having an extension connector. Then you can order module bay add-on and MPM multimodule for this radio so 2.4 GHz protocols are now fully covered.
As always great video very educational 💯❤️👊🙏
Indeed freakin good little radio for freestyle quad pilot. I don't need all 50 km of range during running around bushes, but the point is that this radios is capable to cover those bushes around me without sudden failsafe. Will order it when my local RC dealer will return from vacation. FYI: Tango 2 radio now have MPM multimodule with module bay addon. Not so hard to add. And you will be able to control all your existing 2.4 GHz FrSky/FlySky/etc. herd again.
These are great! Can't wait for version two update! We don't ever fail safe either Just Crash!
Finally JB got it.
We hope all rest of us ordered it will get it soon as well ))). Waiting mine patiently 😬
great video, great review, like the fact you wore your Coexist shirt. Cheers man.
I love your videos!! Great job!
Love my pre 2019 x9d plus se, with crossfire TX Lite. Does everything I want it to do, and will ever need it to do.
I thought the exact same about my X9d/Lite combo... until I realized the Tango 2 will fit in a jacket pocket and still feel good in the hands while running a respectable Crossfire connection.
The Tango2 has a permanent spot in my pack, but I'm not selling my Taranis either.
Some good notes. I def wish I could use this as my primary radio as I noted in my review
Getting my tango 2 today in the mail. Can't wait to use it today!
Good and honest review. Thanks man!
Love the t-shirt. Bang on time.
Thank you sir. I will think more to buy it!
I also wanted to buy this like crazy, but i cant be only on crossfire...
Great review! I will consider it to buy one :)
I wish the back would have had a more rubbery material.
thank you Joshua for the video! Now I am totally sure the Tango 2 is the right transmitter for me. I learned something today!
If you're not going to use it you could always send it to me ;-D ... Nice honest review as always, thanks JB.
Wow. Such great insight about the product. Great review.
JB it’s a 1S 5000mah battery. Also you can create a CRSF to FRSky (2.4) repeater and fly your whoops or other FRSky craft if need be 👍
Repeater is clever but non-viable because of latency. Nobody who buys a CRSF radio wants to fly with the latency of a PPM repeater.
JB yeah that’s very true, but it’s an option for “someone” out there 🤷♂️😁
Looks good but will be staying with my dx9 mod never fail safe have seen people fail safe on utube can I risk it no. Love the video good job Joshua.
After not even slightly caring for this radio for weeks, I have to say that it took me exactly 7 minutes to become a fanboy.
Its perfect for a bug out bag grab and rip then dip.
🍻cheers🥃
Jack Daniels that’s how I do it
It would have been better if it had the 2 watt module for 200 bucks but not worth it just for one protocol.
Them three position switches look like they would have been easier to reach if they were turned 90 degrees. So that you move in and out to operate them instead of front to back.
Joshua I’m pretty sure it’s a 5000mah 1s lipo, not 2s
Oh crap. Good catch. I misspoke.
That's a cool battery!

I really like the simplicity of the DJI TX !

Is it possible to somehow configure tango so that the sensor outputs in decimal format too?
tango 2 crossfire ---> crossfire rx outputting ppm -------> multi protocol module = fly micros, kludgy but would work(with latency)
I own a non-used jumper T12 plus and a X-Lite TX .. what's better : Buying a TANGO 2 or a TBS CROSSFIRE MICRO TX module for my T12
My x9D plus gave up yesterday. I was looking for an alternate. I am not a joystick person so I felt this has a different ergonomic not meant for me. Went for T16 pro. Hope I made the right choice!
Sounds good. Being a tbs addict I’m sold 😍. PS: Where can I buy that cool T-Shirt?
I have a qx7 and a x-lite i got for its size. Since then i got a crossfire micro. so far ive not found a converter that i feel comfortable plugin in and out all the time. i have a multi protocol module that lives in their, and just use the qx7 with the crossfire. . . I think im gonna get one of these. I didint really like the look of it, i thought it looked like a toy, but i would like to have something small that i can use with crossfire, thanks josh
Hi thanks for the review
I’m between Tango 2 pro vs DJI fav controller.
You called it on the Open TX issues!
Joshua, I need to reset my calibration sticks. At the moment they aren’t responding correctly, and I’ve just updated the firmware
What is the simulator you referenced in this video? I've never flown before and I'd love to get some practice.
Bugs: the telemetry page cant open the page 2 3, cant show the GPS data
Hi Mr JB, Do you suggest this tx for occasional helicopter flying too.
Thanks.
thank you so much, JB 😆🙏🙏
Form factor, designed by FPV pilots, no case needed, fits in small bags and doesn’t look like a TX I was flying planes with 25 years ago, the Nirvana is still the best TX IMO.
What should i buy for my first fpv remote.. Radiomaster t16s or tbs tango 2? Need sudgestion
Could you set up the momentary switches to act like regular on/off switch? maybe that would be less awkward for pinchers...
I don't think that would work. as far as I understand momentary switches. Just like a video game controller the button send a pulse while depressed but not the rest of the time. They don't stay on. So unless you were going to fly while holding the button the whole time it wouldn't work.
However on the software side one click can be on and one click could be off so it doesn’t have to be held
@@mrpickles2170 I see what you mean... it's Not a bad idea. But would be alot more complicated I think that's why they went for the 2 and 3 position switches they did.

I’m between Tango 2 pro vs DJI fav controller. They said crossfire has a greater range but does it work while it related to the video feed in dji goggles? Long range without picture! Please I need help with this i don’t wanna regret after buying the dji controller
Hi josh I have a question, the tbs tango 2 only works with the tbs receiver ? Or works too with the frsky receiver?
Fantastic review, Joshua! 😃
To be honest, I didn't like the trim switches either, but the fact that I couldn't put a multiprotocol module into it... Well, that's the deal breaker for me. 😕
Anyway, I'm going to stay with my X9D and as soon as I can I'm going to get the Crossfire micro module.
