  • Join me today in my studio as I go through my sketchbook, paint some cozy fall scenes, and share some tips along the way. I was inspired to paint mushrooms from one of my reference books and thought it would be a great way to experiment with these different colors.

    Have just found you and have subscribed, I do watercolours but lately have been really enjoying gouache and acrylic pens which look like gouache

      I'm so glad you found my channel - thanks for the sub! I haven't used acrylic pens before, that sounds so cool! Do you have a favorite set you like?

    6:53 Are you actually using your table as a mixing surface? I did that once on a desk that had a ceramic surface.

      I put a sheet of palette paper on my desk, it's white so it looks like my desk! Normally I use my ceramic palettes but I need to clean them again. lol.

      @ I did notice the sheet of paper later on in the video. When you started squeezing out the paints, I could not at all see the sheet; it blended so well with your desk 😄.

      Ha! Yes it does blend so well with the desk!

    23:28 Why so complicated 😭 . I literally just dip the caps on the freshly opened tubes😅

      Haha! I tried putting the paint on the lid, but it wouldn't stay one after it dried, it kept beading up on me. So I figured I'd just make little papers of it. And if I had a hole puncher, I would of just done that instead of cutting out squares. C'est la vie!

    Very chill video to watch while painting my own bits ❤
    Cute idea for the colour swatches on the lids. I just paint straight on the lid for acrylic/acryl gouache/flashe paints. Im too lazy to do the little squares for watercolour and gouache 😅😅

      Haha, I'm so glad it was a chill video while you painted too! I wanted to paint straight on the lid, but it wouldn't stick for me. But I can do that for my acrylics tubes too! Thanks for watching!!

    Inspiring. The book is such a great reference I'm buying it! Do you like the Holbein or WN gouache better?

    • @jaclynbaerart
      @jaclynbaerart  2 місяці тому +1

      It's such a great reference book! I'm so glad you like it. I'd say I really like Holbein gouache a lot, especially the acrylic gouache. I should do a swatching or review video on both brands - would that be something you'd watch?

      @ absolutely. I'm curious about the texture and coverage of both but I can only afford a small set of one of them.

      @@jaclynbaerart Also, I don't know if you use actual gouache but if you do could you add that to your comparison or do another video? I'm not sure what the advantages are compared to designer gouache, how to keep the mess down when plein air painting, etc. if that's something you're into, of course.

    • @jaclynbaerart
      @jaclynbaerart  2 місяці тому +1

      @@cheralynn4417 love this idea too! I have just the Holbein acrylic gouache and regular gouache and then a few designer ones from W&N. So I could always start there and then expand as I get more!

    22:40 Oil? Sorry, what oil?

    • @jaclynbaerart
      @jaclynbaerart  2 місяці тому

      There was this layer of oils at the top of the tube. Must of been the binding agent or something that settled to the top since I hadn't opened these gouache tubes in a while! ha!

    • @awatercolourist

      @ I thought the binder would be gum Arabic or something similar for gouache? Are these gouache paints?
