This car is truly beautiful, it was my Uncle Tony's car!! I couldn't be more proud of him and his dedication to his mustangs! He actually took a hit on price for this car at the auction, as what it sold for was much less than what he had into it and paid for.
Sharon, I know there is no way he got his money out of this fine car but hey he has his new Ford GT coming any day now to ease the pain :) Please share the video with Tony and give him my best. Rich
All things considered, that’s an excellent price on a rare-investment grade Musclecar. Color looks eerily familiar to my fathers ‘66 Landau, that he changed over to Antique White 🥺. Thank you Rich for taking all that time to video this beauty!
Thanks Richard, Yes as they stated in the video this is really a rare car with all of the best stuff from the Muscle Car Era in the iconic 69 Mach 1 package and rare paint. That word gets used so often in the collector car world but this one really is that car. He paid nearly 100k just to buy it and then who knows how much it took to get it to this level .Probably close to 175 to 200 k I would guess.
@@randallparker8116 - Totally agree! I want a nice car that I can actually drive and enjoy. I outgrew model cars that you put on a shelf to look at 50+ years ago.
WOW ! What a super rare unbelievably pristine concourse Mach 1 ! Unless it was born that way , who the heck paint's a 69 Mach Gold !? MY Mach was red long before I found it in a barn back in 2001. And it WAS an original Champagne Gold car.. Glad to see this one hammer down for a decent price !
Hey Robert, Not sure if you got to watch the video but its painted a nearly one of one Midnight Orchid Metallic( Purple) not gold and yes that was the factory special order paint. We discuss it at length in the video. This one brought good money as it was a very strong car. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MustangConnection1 Sorry my screw up. At 2.04 you had said that the car was gold when they found it on E bay, Then Tony corrected and stated it was silver and black . Which is a way better color combo than Gold ! Keep up the great content. Especially when we get to see really rare Mustangs like this.
When I first saw this video I got so excited because of the fact that the color was so rare. Looks almost exactly like my royal maroon one family owned convertible except that it has metallic in it. Beautiful car! I hope he doesn't have regrets later.
@@danmyers9372 It was a special order paint color, probably less than a dozen I suppose for all Mustangs produced in '69 would have had this color out of 300k total production
I remember seeing this in Mustang Monthly. Some walking by probably think its Royal Maroon since its a very 'subtle' Purple. Mopars "Plum Crazy Purple" is a whole different situation lol
Yes this is a much darker deeper, hence orchid, agreed it is much darker then plum crazy. You can see Jim Wicks in the video bidding on this into the low 100k range then he bailed out.
its nearly 2 years too late, but Not all 1969-70 Mach 1's had a Blacked out Hood, it was an Optional paint option, like B5A or WB in the paint section.
Every single 1969 Mach 1 came with a blacked out hood treatment. It wasn't an option on the Mach 1 package but standard. It was an option on the GT package for that year ( 69) no GT's in 70
Those were dealer usually dealer installed. In 1970 they did offer the rear deck spoiler on all sportsroofs as an option. The only Mustangs that acutally came with front spoilers standard in 69-70 are Boss 302's and Boss 429's.
The 428 Cobra Jet is rated at 335HP and 440 TQ where the 429 CJ not introduced until 71 was rated at 370 HP and 445 TQ. That being said that doesn't mean all that much both are capable of high HP and TQ when modified.
I bought a brand new 1969 Mach 1 Candy apple red Mustang 4 speed and I could beat a 429 cobra jet and all 396 chevelles,442 ,s etc mopars .in Detroit .
Hi how do i get in contact with the owners or the new owners of this car. Im pretty sure my dad special ordered this car out of Michigan back in 1969. It is the right color, its a four speed, and it doesnt have power steering like he wanted. I still have pics of this car setting in our driveway as a kid. You can find me on facebook under Chris Barker in Virginia. Would love to know if it really was his car. He is 74 years old now and bought when he was in the army. Please reach out. His name is Elmer Barker.
Chris this car was sold at Barrett-Jackson so you would have to contact them to see if there would be a way to get in contact with the winning bidder. I spoke to Tony King ( the former owner) recently and he said he thinks it went to a collector in Canada but that person never so much as asked a single question about the car.

On the surface that sounds decent.... However, that level of restoration cost him at least double that 80k, he had closer to 175k in the car and restoration( or more). $140k is with the 10% auction house commission that the seller doesn't see plus their is an insertion fee to put the car in the auction and transporting it to the event too.

Would love to have this Mach one!! Wow this mustang is incredible!!
I would too and it sold for a lot but I know he had more into the car then it sold for. It was\is extremely clean in person.
I second that!
I do not think you want this Mustang unless you are a Museum owner. Can't drive it, Can't Race it, only look at it.

It brought good money and that is one sweet Mach 1.
It did and in this case it may have been a buy when the rarity and the performance options are tied together.
Very nice car and I really enjoyed hearing the back story on it.
Thanks George, I enjoy interviews like this very much. I am itching to get back to my projects though.
I had one.wish I had it back.1969 mach 1 are the prettiest Mustang ever. 👍👍👍👍👍
Maybe it's time to start looking for another one.....They are such a great looking Mustang, the epitome of Ford's better idea from the late 60's.
I had a ‘70 351w and my buddy had a ‘69 Cobra Jet. We spent a lot of Friday nights cruising the main and raising hell back in the day.
@@MustangConnection1 - Unfortunately the TV suctions have driven the cost of a decent car out of my range.

I would call that Mach 1 perfection.
That car is OUTSTANDING and dare I say a buy at that price given the current market!

'69 Mustang, another hit from Ford designers. Even more if it is a SCJ. This rare color really fits very well on it. Great car.
If that rascal was mine, I would be buried in it. No way I would ever sell it.
Great job again Rich! A special one indeed!
Thanks man, what are you guys working on right now ? I need a heads up so I can get it out in advance of any public offering.
