On "My Car Story" we're in Scottsdale AZ on 9-11-21.
We're looking at a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet in Indian Fire Paint. The car features the factory 428 CI V8 “Super Cobra Jet” engine.
The car's Owner is Terry Cannefax. Terry’s had this car since 2019. He shares had a 1969 Mustang when he was a young man, and always wanted a 428 Super Cobra Jet, and he saw this one at an auction, and he was the Lucky Winner. He shares the car with us also, so we’re the Winners too.
ENJOY!
Truly one of the most beautiful cars Ford ever made.
High praise :-)
I had a 69 square back with a cj 428 I pulled out of my 69 cougar eliminator.if I knew the value of the rusted out cougar, the Mustang would never have seen the 428,but it did,I tore the town a new butthole with that car, Friday was burn a set night😂❤
These cars look great in any color. The most beautiful year of Mustang ever, in our opinion. That color puts it right over the top.
I'm glad he kept all the mods he's done to things that can easily be returned to stock.
Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Beautiful!
Brought back memories of my first car, a very plain 1969 Mustang coupe that I bought in 1978 for about $500-$600. It had a 1970 Mustang front end. My brother and I worked on the engine in our garage in Ventura County, California, then took it on a cross-country road trip all the way to New York City and back. In North Dakota, we got into a physical argument while driving down the interstate, we were arguing about which site to visit next. Teenage brothers, go figure. Shortly after returning home (in one piece, thankfully!) I was driving down a narrow street in Hollywood and a van pulled out of a driveway and ruined the driver side door...I had it fixed and repainted and sold it. I still think about that car once in a while...this video definitely brought me back. Love the upgraded interior, that's the same interior that came with the Mustang Grande.
Hi Heretic, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 1st car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Merry Christmas to you and all of your viewers.
The 1969 Mustang was my favorite of all time. Indian Fire was my favorite color in 1969. I would be happy with any 1969 Mustang!
Hi Dave, Merry Christmas. Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
I don’t think I could take the excitement of watching this amazing car before bed so I am hitting the thumbs up button all over the place, pressing the save button and I am subscribed. Tomorrow in the morning… With my cuppa coffee. And a killer mustang . Sounds great.
Hi JONNIE, Thank you for being Subscribed, and hope you enjoy this video in the morning with your coffee :-) Lou
My uncle has one but red, he's owned it since 1971 428 SCJ(4.30 gears), am/fm/ 8 track, rimblow horn, window slats, styled steel wheels and still original front tires.
Hi Raymond, Happy to read your Uncle has his since 1971 :-) Sounds like a great car, Lou
Lou, these cars were rare in the day never mind now...so fine! I appreciate the level of paint detailing in the doorjams/sills as well as under both front hood and trunk lid. Really well maintained! No air-con and radio...windows open and the eight peice orchestra from under the hood. Blue sky, wide open road and no traffic - perfect 👌.
Hi Audie, Happy to share this "perfect" experience with you :-) Lou
My buddy had this exact car in a medium blue when we were in high school....It was mint... also a drag pack car... I had a 1969 Judge Ram Air III... We had tons of fun racing... Thanks Lou ! Merry Christmas to you and yours !
Hi Rudy, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome. Merry Christmas, Lou
My first mustang was a 1969 in 1989. Loved it. Miss it. Thanks for the vid

Merry Christmas!!! The 1969 Mustang was one of the coolest with those split headlights, I've always loved that design detail. This one is super cool in that beautiful rare color!!! Radio? We don't need no stinking radio!!! Who needs a radio when ya have that lovely 428 Cobra Jet making all the sweet sounds and playing all the hits!!! Good job Lou. Another beauty as seen on My Car Story!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, Merry Christmas!!! Happy to read you enjoy the sounds coming from this radioless car :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
my favorite mustang body design.thanks lou and terry.
Hi keeff, Happy to read this is a favorite Mustang for you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi, Lou! When this one's running, it's just as well it has no radio...it would only get drowned out anyway! LOL! As common as Mustangs were back then (and still are), Terry is very fortunate to have won this one-of-one hoss! Thanks to you and Terry for inviting us along to saddle up in this not quiet angry pony!
Hi iswc27, Happy to share this angry pony with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Now this is what I call a Christmas present !! Another beautiful iconic Ford restored to perfection! Thanks to you and Terry for sharing this one with us! A real "butterfly" attraction if you will!

Merry Christmas, Lou! This Mustang is definitely the perfect gift to behold on such a great day! I love the car, I love the color, and I definitely love and appreciate the 1 of 1 Marti rating! You have outdone yourself once again.
Merry Christmas TheGunfughter45acp, Happy to share this "Christmas Car" with you & glad to read you "love the car" :-) Lou
First of all, Merry Christmas to you & your family, Lou. ! What a beautiful super cobra jet.! This is my favourite year of the Mustang , and I'm not really a Ford guy, but I would have one of these ! The color is amazing with the stripe package & the magnum 500's really set it off. Still the best looking rims Ford had, ( imo ). Thanks to Terry for showing this great car. !
Hi Kevin, Merry Christmas to you and your family too. Happy to read this is a favourite year Mustang for you :-) Lou
Good looking Mach 1, always liked those!!!
Happy to read this is one you like :-)
That car is a driving gem :)
Happy to read you enjoy this "driving gem" :-)
What a beautiful Mustang Mach 1 Cobrajet! This example is outstanding in its looks and the color. In my personal opinion, a 4 speed gearbox would do that Mach 1 justice. BTW, Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Merry Christmas to you and your family too, Lou
Indian Fire might be my favorite color on the 1969 Mustang
:-)
Well, after that initial blast Lou, you understand why I have so many CJ cars. Others you've had on here before sound undertuned. My XR-7 automatic will get rubber going into 3rd with 300 lbs of ballast in the trunk. Killer cars, these. Love that Indian Fire. One suggestion for Terry: if there is a cooling issue at any time, try running with the add-on pusher fan removed. By now, we have figured out that they can cause turbulence when used with the stock fan, where the blades are different size and turning at different rpm's. Just a thought. Merry Christmas, Lou and the rest of you car guys!
Hi 413x398, Happy to read you enjoy this one, and great that you have them too. Thanks for the tip. Merry Christmas, Lou
The video started sitting in the passenger seat, my best friend had a 69 in high school we cruised a lot and I sat in that seat and had that same view!!
Hi m s, Happy to read this video started with good memories of High School cruising :-) Lou

Merry Christmas Lou, and thanks for all the entertainment as usual.
Merry Christmas Mr. Fruity Pebbles :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome.
Thanks, Lou and Terry. I just learned about Indian Fire Red yesterday. I'd never seen that color before, and I really like it. This is certainly a beautiful and rare car. Terry must be very pleased to own it.
But Lou, I can't imagine where you were to have this car parked in the middle of the road for so long and no traffic had come by. It must be a very, very unpopulated area.
Hi discerningmind, You're welcome. Glad to share this color with you. I believe you're right, Terry's happy to own this car. Regarding where the car is parked in the middle of the road.....well it's funny you say that....my little private road area has just recently been purchased by a land developer and it won't be that quiet too much longer.....Lou
Merry Christmas Lou to you and your family. Beautiful Mustang. My favorite years are a '69 & '70. Just beautiful! Thanks for posting. Be blessed Lou always!

¡Felices fiestas Lou, y bendiciones!
Hi Jaime, Happy to read you enjoy this car, Lou
Hi, My name is Rick...and I have a problem...I'm addicted to the muscle cars on Lou's "My Car Story" channel. I realized it today when I leaned forward to get a closer look at the engine when the hood was lifted...
NICE ! Ok Rick, the good news is there is no cure. So I'll prescribe you just two videos before bed and the verdict is you'll have sweet dreams and restful sleep. Dr. Lou
@@loucostabile In these circumstances, it's good to have a plan, thanks Dr. Lou!

Car is pretty sweet.
The '69 fast back has always been my fave (had a '66 notch back, 6 and a 3 speed,,,,couldn't sell it fast enough,. loss? yep, didn't care).
This i love from the Magnum 500 wheels to the CJ shaker. amazing !
Happy New Year.

I think this is the same car that sold at B-J Scottsdale 2023. I would have bought this car for more if I would have known the history of the car. Former SCJ ‘ 69 mach 1 owner also.
Hi Jim, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Sinister Sounding too!!
Just the way we like it :-)
One gorgeous Mustang! Also quite useless in the AZ summer sun with no AC. ;)
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this "gorgeous Mustang!" :-) You're right, it would be challenging in the summer in AZ with no air conditioning, Lou
wow beautiful mustang!
Happy to receive a "wow" from you for this car :-)
Sharp color and stripes too!!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Dang just an incredible Mustang, you've done it again Lou!
Merry Christmas
Hi Clark, Happy to read you enjoy this "incredible Mustang" :-) Merry Christmas, Lou
Best looking Mustang ever made was the 69. The 428 SCJ was the best performance street car ever made in a mustang. The Boss 429 required too much rpm for the street and the cubic inches too small for those great heads. This one, the king of the streets mustang. Great car, bet you enjoyed the ride.
High praise :-) Yes, the ride was fun!
The 429 Boss was detuned from the factory but when set up properly it would chew the 428 CJ a new one.
That's the one to have! Very nice sir.
:-)
BTW, there was an ad campaign in Canada years ago, "Mustang 2 Boredom 0". It was used to sell those ABOMINATIONS they named Mustang 2!
Thank you for sharing.
Wasn’t that a terrible model? I remember when it came out and thought it was the end of the Mustang! Nothing but a trimmed out Pinto.
I blew one of these away with my lowly 1985 Mustang GT 5 speed with 3.27 gears and factory headers. Rated 210 hp... actually made 290 hp. He was extremely upset. So was the 93 Cobra I destroyed. Heh heh heh heh
Hi net-rioter, Happy to read this car brings back fun memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Happy to read you "love it just the same" :-)
Merry Christmas bud and keep up the great work!
Merry Christmas Thomas :-)
CATERPILLAR crawling by at 1:48! L0L BTW, the 1968 is a much nicer traditional look for the Mustang! The SHELBY version, THE BEST in my books! I really miss my 1964 1/2 Mustang conv. when I watch these videos! It was red with a white top, a rebuilt 289 4 BBL,rebuilt tranny, dual exhaust, wide Mickey Thompson tires on the back! I never should have sold it!
Back in 1980 my friend Jack Mezzomo, (Pro Speed and Custom), a popular ENGINE mechanic in the Vancouver area, rebuilt my Mustang motor, and drive train! He passed away recently! RIP Jack!
Hi Mr. BLACKHAWK, Thanks for sharing what you notice. Happy to read you had a fun Mustang too. Lou
Chrysler, Ford, GM and AMC all had the option for the Magnum 500 rims.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
chingon mr lou
Thank you Mr. CHON
Merry Christmas from il. Lou
Merry Christmas Dan
8:34 - Lou, I haven't really researched these engines, at least not anytime recently. I'm sure I did 20 -30 years ago when I was big into hot rod magazines and loved researching these engines, so without knowing, I would say just speculation based on what he just said; that the cranks being different, the flywheel wouldn't be "lighter" as it would be probably simply a different balance for the crank he just mentioned. Without researching the crank and guessing, probably a much stronger crank and had a difference balance to it as a result.
Wabanaki [People Of The Dawnland] Mi'kmaw Indian, Thank you for viewing & sharing your thoughts, Lou
I believe Larry Shinoda designed this version on the Mach 1. It is to die for. Love it. Happy Holidays, All
Hi Steve, Happy to read you "Love it" :-) Happy Holidays, Lou
I FINALLY figgered out what those rear/side scoops are for! They keep the Chicago dead bodies in the trunk from smelling too bad! :P BTW. I'm a LONG-time Black Hawk, and Bears fan!
Nice :-)
@@loucostabile You already know I like to STRADDLE 'the line'! :P
