What a lot of disgruntled fans don't get is that musicians don't write music for their fans they write it for themselves. It's poetry, feelings and emotions put to song. If you don't like it guess what? They really don't care.
I believe that that is simultaneously true and untrue. To speak on a subject I can't be certain of, I would say I believe Chester Bennington for example was bothered by the reactions of fans to his music in his later years. I think it is different for everyone, in terms of how you look at it. As a teenager, I remember trashing some of Linkin Park's newer music online. It wasn't what ***I*** wanted, so being the teenage product of Capitalism gone awry I was, I felt justified in going on more than one sanctified rant about what a sellout Chester Bennington and Linkin Park had become. It is unlikely Chester ever saw any of the comments I wrote directly (it is always remotely possible, at least. It's a small world.) I wonder if at the very least my ill-conceived criticisms contributed in some way to an atmosphere that ultimately lead to Chester's death. All That Remains is amazing. Some of their earlier music is a little too intense for me most of the time. I believe their first album is entitled "The Fall of Ideals". It is a little too heavy-metal for me for the most part ("Not Alone" being the absolute gem of the album in my opinion). I personally appreciate the way they have evolved as a band as they have gone a bit more "mainstream". The point being this: None of these bands have anything to be ashamed of. Anybody who wants to complain? I have a question for you: What did human beings do for music 1000 years ago? Play the harp? That's what I thought. If you don't like what one artist is doing, guess what there is literally more music than you could ever possibly listen to waiting for you to find it. In all of human history, we are part of a select few who can listen to music on demand. We should be grateful.
@@jamesbrashears426 I did not peruse the comments section for negative comments here, but my understanding is that some fans have hated on this song pretty hard for not being "hardcore" enough, or something to that effect.
I love the versatility of All That Remains. Whether I'm in the mood for just all out metal and screams or something more melodic I can always fall back on them to give me a song to suit my mood. Got to see them at the Impact Music Festival. Hope to see them again as they didn't disappoint!
This is a masterpiece of a composition of metal and melodious architecture. This is the first song in a long time that has found the confidence to stand strong on its own foundation.
After buying this album at the concert in sodo at showbox, Oli autographed it for me, he was doing so for anyone who bought merch. Seemed happy, and is missed
People who say this song isn't heavy clearly haven't a clue about musical structure. The vocals are very clean and melodic, that's ture, but the instrumental is quite heavy. Don't go calling it not heavy because it's just not your run at the mill metalcore, this is still more metal than rock my friends.
It's definitely heavy. Its also definitely not the atr I know and love. I'm not saying it's bad, it's not atr. They arent even in the same ball park of their roots.
Heard the chorus 3 yrs ago in a friend's garage. He wasn't payin attention n had his music set on shuffle. Couldn't tell me who it was. I had to Google what I thought the lyrics were and I found it. Love this song for some reason. My mom is in her 60s n she likes it too. Glad i was at my friends garage that day cuz I play this song atleast once a day.
I'm an old school ATR fan, but I gotta give them credit, this new song is amazing! Excellent arrangement and harmony, this song is really dynamic and that's what I appreciate most about Metalcore.....dynamics!
I’m almost 50 and I only recently found metalcore maybe 4 years ago, I can’t believe I almost missed out on this music. And dynamics of metalcore is what I love most

So I'm a stage hand, I set up for bands at a music venue. Last night I worked for these guys, and your not fucking wrong.
I really appreciate that they have a female artist who's not oversexed or advertised as an item. Those little haunting harmonies here and there do it for me!
+Christopher Thomas Jeanne has left the band, last year if my memory is correct. She did so to pursue personal interests. It is why for the video of "Victory Lap" you do not see here.
I agree on the harmonies. To me I look at them as the points where the stories match in that situation. As there are always three sides to every story.
Man This is my Song and my Band. I can't believe it's already been 7 or 8 year's this Awesome song was released. Man I Miss My Boy Oli. I Loved the Way He Shredded the Heck out of His Guitars 🎸. R.I.P Oli My Brother
Idk what yall talking about I like this song.
every metal band has that great slow song.
Great song.
What a great band! They started like a deathcore/death metal band, passing through metalcore, thrash metal and finally some heavy metal that is a bit more mainstream but still powerful! Not forgetting to mention some acoustic stuff that they have, mainly "What if I was nothing". What a great band I would like to see them live in Peru
At 2:10 Oli with his signature horns. Man I miss that guy. Rest In Peace Oli Herbert. Metal sure does miss you!
Wow, I was listening to Five Finger Death Punch and auto play was on so it put me onto this song, I'm glad auto play is on now :D

Wow. I remember first seeing these guys live 10 years ago opening for GWAR. They're a LOT different, but i like it still.
First time listen for me and man, that intro gave me goosebumps for sure!
Some of the best metal songs of all time. ATR's albums speak VOLUMES

Rip oli 😩😩😥
I got to meet the lead guitarist Oli Herbert a week ago. He literally stood next to me for the majority of the Judas Priest show at Rock Fest in Cadott WI.
Rock Fest is my favorite place in the whole world👌👌
***** I just posted some videos from RF 2015
bkriegel95 that dude rules, I saw them in ohio and oli chilled outside after the show and met every fan. one of the sickest guitar players, too.
Rob Mahoney I agree. He's very chill.
I seen this exact comment on a different video :/
I think a heavy metal band that can explore all the levels of their voice and utilize it, will attract a bigger audience of followers.
So excited to see All That Remains in Texas next week!!
Really hope they play this song, it's my favorite!!
RIP Oli =(
RIP Oli Herbert.
Fly High Oli ! Definitely will be missed
I used to reject this album. However after listening to this several times I realized I was singing all songs along. You know great album full of great melodies
People judge the album off of one song. Beautiful.
I think I found my new favorite song of their's
