After 2 1/2 months, I am finally ready to share our kitchen reveal! What an amazing transformation! I am so in love with all of it, and I hope you all will love it too! Your kitchen is beautiful and you did a great job even though 👏 it cost you more than budgeted in the beginning. Can you give me a Grand Total of everything spent. You have so many conveniences now. I love the improvement in your stove area. Yes replace the board over your stove where the space is by your cabinet & stove hood. It's to short. I love your faucet and you did a great job choosing your floor and all the decor ❤. In all I am so HAPPY FOR YOU. MARION was wonderful with all the stressful changes and etc. Mostly you did a 👍 great job working with what 😳 you had to work with and the age of your home. Congratulations!

The island is the sweetest thing. I love that you were able to include the past with the present with your piece from your old window. You will always have a reminder of the transformation that includes God's provision and your passion and contentment.

I have been watching for a little over 2 months now. It's so refreshing to see someone in an older style home (like I have) remodel and decorate into such a cozy space. I am soooooo happy for you. Such a wonderful husband you have to dig in and get things done along side you. Reminds me of me and my husband. It all came together so nicely!!! Great choice on the framing of the window and stain color. You did great!!!! Now enjoy for the holidays and decorating. So enjoy watching and love your down to earth honest personality.

Oh, Arika this beautiful finish of your dreams has brought me to tears...happy tears! When you showed us the window, I thought what a beautiful focal point and how you will have many moments there. Promise me that when you look out the window from this safe place of home and refuge you and Marion have tirelessly built for your family, that you will only have thoughts of moving forward through your life, trying to imagine the wonderful things life holds for each of you. Nothing in the past is very important, mistakes are meant to strengthen us. Never forget God's goodness, no matter what! Praise him in the best and the worst of your days! It turned out absolutely beautiful! It is just perfect & that final touch of the window trim on the island, made it! Now you can just enjoy it all.. That was alot of work for a built in dishwasher..lol
Funny story here, a freind of ours made our cabinet bases, I had sanded & refinished old cabinet
doors, that where solid wood & stained them, they had came out beautiful. But he had all the bases set it, calked & ready to go & discovered he had put them to low for the dishwarsher. I came in the house & he had a pencil line drawed up in the brand new counter top & I asked him what that was for & he then broke the news to me of what he had done & was about to cut into the counter top.. I was a little upset & quickly went out to look at the dishwasher & the thin little metal frame work under. I realized quickly & knew my hubby was working in a metal fabrication job, as a welder & on a daily basis cuts metal. That he could cut the frame & put it back togather as well as any wood worker does such things with wood. And he came home from work that very night, as he was working the night shift & took care of it in a matter of mins. And everything worked out without having to cut the new countertops. We where also on an extremely tight budget & did all the work ourselves, except build the basement base cabinets.
I just realized maybe I should have told you this story before & you could have done the same thing. But then you wouldn't of had the rest of your beautiful kitchen so maybe it's best I didn't tell you this story before now.. lol
I always say I am gonna write a book someday of what not to do in life.. lol Because we do so many crazy things ourselves out of necessity & budget. We learn a lot..
The piece of scalloped wood trim on the island is the perfect finishing touch!
I know it was frustrating waiting for things to come together. But I think it gave you the opportunity to really think about what you wanted, or needed and how to make it happen. I absolutely love the choices you made, and I am so jealous!
I tried to guess your favorite thing but I couldn't because there are so many good things! That you got that gorgeous backsplash for $40 in materials is amazing. The top of your island is beautiful and I am so happy you were able to use the wood piece from your old kitchen. Your spice shelf over the stove is just perfect. Your floor, dishwasher, sink, faucet, cabinets - it all came together beautifully.

I am amazed at the finished kitchen!! It is perfection, and what makes it, is all yours and Marions choices, and finishes! The FIRST thing I noticed was the scalloped trim on the GORGEOUS center island, it was meant to be exactly there, icing on the cake!! Marion could build and sell those for a pretty penny, the way you both distressed it is beautiful. It warms my heart to see YOU so happy with it, you deserve that beautiful kitchen!💖💖💖

There are so many elements to love about your kitchen (primarily you, Marion, the contractors and the happy spirit that flows through the internet 🌻🤗) but I'll touch on just a few of mine: your use of the full vertical space available; using different shapes and textures which somehow all work together (maybe color is the coordinating element so that it doesn't look wacky but well put together!); your generous incorporation of decorative objects with the functional which makes it homey, happy - you. Arika, your new kitchen is absolutely beautiful. Iam so happy for you. I haven’t been on here in almost a week , we got hit pretty hard by hurricane Sally. We were without power for 6 days. Praise the Lord no one was hurt . My friend lost everything a huge oak tree demolished her home and she (her Dad is a Preacher) didn’t even have a scratch. God sure protected her🙏 Glory be to God.
