When this happened to my Toyota Camry I didn't know it was the sensor that was faulty... I did everything including taking the engine apart and rebuilding it and it still didn't work until I replaced the sensors then it worked I felt like a fool when I discovered the sensors where the problem

I had my 2011 camry 2.5l le california engine replaced with an ebay engine and now I have a P0017 and the other code I think it was P0014.

@@maen7321 I replaced the camshaft sensors.. all of them
Camshaft VVT actuator should rotates the camshaft in not more then 0.8 sec in full strock and returns back in not more then 1.2 sec. This is the backup logic in PCM (of course witting some rpm and engine temperature requirements). If those two value is out of this speck you'll get P0011 or P0014 codes
My 2016 Tucson was throwing a P0014… had it checked out at an independent mechanic and the dealership. Both of whom told me I need an engine replacement with an estimated cost of only $16,000!

Should this P0017 engine cide be a recall as the dowel pin seems to be a common problem with hyundai elantra cars. what causes this issue and should Hyundai pay for the dianostic and repair?
Please when picking the signal of crank and cam sensor please should ocv harness disconnected or should not
always connected, if you disconnect the sensor you will not be able to see the signal properly due to the bias voltage from the pcm indicating an open circuit.
1-always back probe your connectors.
2-always verify with a wiring diagram the proper wires that you are testing.
3-Never try actuate a component unless you are confident in your wiring identification.

My engine runs good and no Leaks but I do have an engine light on ..cam shaft cranking correlation sensor A&B are indicating note I have no leaks and th engine starts smooth do I have an expensive repair or just a minor thing

check your oil level first, then you will need to check the timing of the engine( crank to cam corrolation)

Good morning senior please i have Hyundai Elantra GT error code p0017 when the engine cool it start fine but when you drive the vehicle will stall from there the vehicle will not start again onles the the engine cool down

Doubt it lol. have you seen the recalls on kia and hyundai engines-- lets just say that clearances are the main issue.

Can P0014 and P0017 along with lumpy idle be just a faulty crankshaft sensor?? Have changed oil, and cam sensor but problem persists
Dont bother with it. If you get the codes. P0014 and p0017 on hyundai, you need to swap the whole camshaft. I have done too many and I'm going to do one more tomorrow.
@@benz240dcan you explain why the camshaft needs replacement?
i had a p0017, put a new ocv and crankshaft sensor in. now i have a p0014. i changed oil and filter but my car still throws a this code and i my aftermarket muffler sounds different. more dull. like typically, downshiftin to 1st or 2nd, ill get gurgles and pops. but theres nothing now. just a radom misfire pop here an there. the engines performance has improved, throttle response is back to normal, but still a bit sluggish..
@@TheElantra the phaser on the camshaft locking key breaks and it moves out of place, even if the chain on the phaser looks perfectly aligned, the camshaft stays off. Also they are known to fail in 2017. So I would suggest you get two cams with a phaser already installed correctly or get two new phasers and make sure the pin doesn't slip while you are tightening the center bolt.
@@benz240d THANK YOU!!! i just gunna replace all that you mentioned, with, tensioner, water. p. and all my pulleys. Then either rebuild my cycl-head or buy a used one. i deeply appreciate your reply!
@@TheElantra You're welcome. One more thing, it would be wise to put a new timing cover also. The built in oil pumps do fail a lot and cause issues. And don't worry about the water pump. I never changed one that failed on a Hyundai or kia in my entire 20 years. 😆. Cheers

It could be:
oil level
camphaser solenoids
cam phasers(cvvt)
camshaft trigger wheel
timing
All can be verified manually with some basic tools. I have a video on timing Kia and Hyundai engines but have not had time to edit it.
I also have a video on p0017(only) but i have not had time to edit it.
I will try and get those out for you.

You have bad camshaft bank one
I do agree those block scratches are serious, but without compression test I will not make big decision. If it was me, I would clean that VVT selinoid, and keep the engine till completely dead.
