It’s a classic!
But, Lucy's salad dressing looks more like mayonnaise color and consistency albeit a little runny and I always wanted to know what it was that they used on the show. I'll try to make it but will need to tweak it a bit, maybe add an egg a little more oil, will see!

It does look more like mayonnaise on the show, but I think it’s exaggerated to show up more on screen. You can make adjustments (I made adjustments from the original recipe) because everyone has their personal preferences!
I think this is due to the dressing being cream and flour based, not an oil emulsion. There's oil in the finished product but this seems like a cream, sugar, water, vinegar, flour, egg yolks, flavoring agents style dressing that's boiled/cooked to thicken, not emulsified/suspended in oil.

The recipe is from a cookbook (credited in the description), but I made some changes. For example, the original recipe calls for vinegar and I left it out because I didn’t want this to be a strong “vinegary” dressing. It’s already sweet enough!
