Thank you very much! I feel the video came out very nice. It's a bit different since it's not dark environment as usual, but a lot of light in a clear Finnish summer night. And of course Kai is phenomenal.

Nightwish had quite some Problems in their Career. But surely Never had an Drummer Prob;) I loved watching and Hearing Jukka performing and going Nuts, and Kai`s Craft is even more professional in my Humble Opinion:)

i noticed that he is using new cymbals (he is using Sihi Cymbals (a finnish company who makes cymbals in Turkey))
@Antti kangasaho its a long shot but do you or can you put together the greatest show performance, i know it is a long set but his solo is something else watching kai a pleasure, playing this with eyes closed or not looking were he is striking shows a man that knows his set and i seriously think he could play this tune blindfolded, thanx

Lisää Hahtoa! ❤ Täytyy tosin sanoa, että pidin enemmän vanhempien videoiden täysin akustisesta ja prosessoimasta saundista. Oli harvinaista herkkua päästä kuulemaan miltä eri rumpaleiden setit oikeasti kuulostivat lavalla.
Hyvä pointti tuo äänipuoli. Jatkossakin tulee varmasti molempia vaihtoehtoja (esim.viime vuodelta RJ ja Sonata videot oli mun omilla äänityksillä). Monesti vaan jos on mahdollisuus, niin artistit itse haluaa sitä ns.parasta laatua. Ja kyllähän nekin usein on aitoa tavaraa, basarissa saattaa joskus olla jotain samplea.
he is insane skilled and played zilion of notes on wintersun. And on Nightwish seems like he had to focus more to not overplay and be steady on straight beats.
I think "playing for the song" is one of the biggest trait of a great musician

Once he retired from the band it was stated he will work behind the scenes/management. I have understood he did a lot of that stuff already while he was in the band.

Yes, he still works with them behind the scenes, he did an AMA (ask me anything) on the Nightwish forum (all members did, but at this point Kai had been in the band for 2 or 3 years) as a bonus and also played Last Ride of the Day with them at Himos Park 2016. As far as I know he doesn't have any new band, but I guess he still plays drums

Those are Sihi cymbals, and if I remember correctly they are his signature cymbals, Hohto series.

Kaitsu is a BEAST behind those drums. Awesome performance as usual, rock solid and musically involved.
The only thing I don't like is that terrible ride-crash cymbal - get rid of it asap - it's not the proper ride cymbal for Nightwish's music.
Great work from this great drummer. But i still think, Jukka's style suited the song better, and Nightiwsh in general

Unpopular opinion: those cymbals doesn't sound good at all. Miss those beautiful Meinl sounds.
Kai is kinda wasting his talent in Nightwish. Sure its a good gig. Big band and makes alot of money no doubt. But we all know what a beast he is and he cant really show that in Nightwish.
Maybe it's not that straightforward. He did outstanding job in Swallow the Sun and that's totally different from Wintersun or Rotten Sound. And on the other hand he is now permanent member of Darkwoods my Betrothed. So, we will be hearing many sides of him, also in the future. And as one ages, also the view on what one wants to play might just simply change.
@@anttikangasaho well its pretty straight forward. He is getting old. He hasnt really made good money with music. He gets offered a high paying gig. Anyone would take it. Im not saying he shouldnt Have. Im just saying Nightwish is so simple and he i capable of insane things
I fully agree. But its a job and probably the best gig for a finnish drummer. Im sure they treat him well.
Why does it always have to be complicated? Playing complicated things on drums is great, but no one is paying attention, except drummers.
You need balls to play every f****** evening for an audience of 8000+ and listen to a clicktrack for approx 2 hours, to keep everything in time.
