Thanks for uploading this gem! I first heard this back in 84? I was 12? There is a hostel in London called the clinks that was the former studio where the Clash first recorded their albums. The new generation of backpackers and young staff staying there were totally oblivious about the Clash!
I grew up in South Texas in basically the "Mexican Hood" and even the old school homies got down with this when us youngsters would blast this from the front porch on our big ass jambox.......
Not their usual fair, but good lyrics and an excellent bass line. I had the extended play vinyl with Magnificent Seven on the B-side. Wore it out. This is still a great club song. You can use the bass hook on a ton of songs. If you have a copy of the vinyl, Radio Clash & Magnificent Seven, do not lend it out. This is a difficult mix to get.
Perhaps the true post modern decade and one of the world's greatest bands to touch that moment (imo). My buddy had this and would bring it out when we were all goofed up. Thanks again for putting this out here.
I had the original Clash cassette with all the versions of this song. But I think I threw it out, along with most of my cassettes, when evil developers tore down my building to build a condominium. 😢
One of the coolest ever 12" UK Singles! I saw The Clash "Live" at the Palladium in Hollywood, California on June 16,1982! Tragically, James Honeyman-Scott, of The Pretenders, died that very day. We got the shocking news on the way to the gig listening to KROQ FM Radio.
