Depending on what they add/modify for new players, this could break their market wide open. So many train sim fans that none of the current sims can satisfy. This game seems like it can grow with you as a player.
Just wanted to thank you squirrel before i start watch this video for your most recent video on Derail valley, it caught my attention and i enjoyed the look of game and video so much i paid the full price of £33 squids for it, rare i do pay full price for a game but this game has the potential to be the best train sim of all time i'm absolutely loving the game and hyped for the next update I love the sound design its really good, your engine sounds like a roaring beast, I was very impressed steam trains are present in the game from day one and i love the whole money and progression system, could see the game having bigger maps in the future with AI traffic and Rival train companies as you try to expand your own right on to this sneak peak into the closed beta, i'm so excited i can't finish typing this comment fast enough hahaha lol
I wish we could one day have a railsim with the Derail Valley type of controls/gaming mechanics that would employ openrailmap and utilize some sort of terrain generation system like Asobo does in MSFS, so you could pick any place on the planet, set up realistic weather and go. But i'm afraid that 1.we're not there yet, technologically. And 2.train sims are definitely even smaller niche than flying sims. So it might never happen. The level of detail would have to be a lot higher than for flying. But let me dream, damn.
Played it first time last night and wow. Overhauled was great but sim is another level, did a journey from steel mill to harbour in dark and full on rain in realistic settings. The challenge of reading signals from cab in these conditions is very realistic. Felt it was only right to restart from beginning rather than carry on from my overhauled save as I’ve progress very far.
I remember the trucking days. I have been a subscriber under the name of Dwayne Taylor for a long time. Even started this channel all thanks the simulator games
I'm going to have to jump back in... was a fun game and I played for a while but then set it aside to wait for further development. I'm hoping someday they make the world more alive - it's pretty lonely when you're the only engineer (human) on an entire railroad. I recognize that would be a huge update to add signals, passing sidings, schedules and so on... but hopefully they tackle that at some point.
I really hope this runs well in VR. The 282 and DE6 already lag horribly if I'm in the cab or near the locomotive with a load attached. Also hoping cars wont shake violently going over switches anymore.
God I'm so excited. I've bought derail valley month ago and already have 70 hours clocked in. I'm most excited about the weather and day/night cycle. As fun as derail valley is right now it really is missing bad weather/night. Hauling freight durring perfect sunny day gets boring after a while.
Its looks cool, the lighting looks amazing but the most important thing for me would be to get a way bigger map with a lot more towns so taking multiple cargo jobs to different places would matter (maybe there will be mods for that ??). Another thing they didn't seem to update even that doesn't matter that much are the graphics to something kinda like "train sim world" (or close). With the mechanics of DV with train sim world graphics and a bigger map would be the ultimate train game
looks very cool. I hope the speed limit annoucements are better now, because it is shit, when it says go 60 in front of an intersection and both ways continue at 30 or 40
I bought it and love to play this, but I am not sure if all my progress will reset when this update drops at the end of june. So I decided to stop playing until the update is released. Can’t wait!
1:30 - The train floor normals are inverted -_-. Don't want to be a hater, it's just I work with game development and those things usually bother me a bit. LOL
AFAIK they haven't changed the map other than the visuals, which is a shame, I hope they change it or add a more realistic one in the future. Ironically for a sim, the map is the most unrealistic part, not enough straights and very hilly, railways are *usually* kept as level and straight as possible for efficiency. That said, I still love this game and can't wait for this update.
The next large update after this one is going to focus on the map, mainly adding a bunch of new industries and cities but also increasing the average speed limit a bit iirc.
The Visuals and Weather update to the game is a step up to it. Really looking promising. If they can get multiplayer it be awesome too but that be a while I bet before that comes in to play.
Altfuture have stated that they do not plan on adding multiplayer to DV at all, as it would require entirely remaking the game's base code, essentially rebuilding the game from scratch. They have also stated it will most likely be integrated in one of their potential future projects, but as far as Derail Valley goes, multiplayer is out of the question.
Don't wanna be nitpicking or anything but when you went outside the lamp didn;t get wet,but it is in beta stage i know. Don't know wich engine their using but i know Unreal engine 5 does support this.
@Pattex yeah, he is really not showing us anything new. Everything he is showing us We have already seen in the pre-release videos. Would love to see some straight up gameplay.
I recently bought this game and tried out the sand box expecting to have fun with many trains with no work in the campaign required. But when I had my hopes up. I discovered you have to work for all the license. Or what I think,If you know another way how to get past that and play freely play around with trains with out campaign .Please tell me.
Will probably buy it and give it a try when this update comes out. The main thing that's kept me from getting it already is the UI, It being made for VR, first person only, no HUD, no external views, the contracts and wallet and such being in game objects rather than menus, etc. Just feels slightly weird. Are there going to be any UI updates coming with the simulator update?
Was playing the game a bit in vr a month ago and noticed a lot of gripes I had with the game immediately. Things I wish were implemented or changed, and right after that, I heard about this new update. I can’t be more thrilled about it, it looks awesome and hope it fixes EVERYTHING I disliked initially Textures felt flat Lighting Terrain issues surrounding train tracks Soundscape was nonexistent. The list goes on. All these changes go a long way in creating an immersive experience. The job system is just fine, perhaps could use some fun tweaks even.
This maybe a stupid question but I figured this would be the place to ask. If I bought the current Derail Valley, will I then need to purchase the Simulator separately? Thank you Squirrel for all the content over the years. Always a nice watch and informative.
It looks like the perfect horror game there at the start
I was thinking the same thing. Realistic… yes maybe… but also very dark and spooky.
Reminds me of My Summer Car, when all you have is the torch
Choo Choo Charles vibes
Maybe someone could create a horror mod ?
Derail valley is just post apocalyptic train simulator and you have to rebuild humanity by delivering goods to Food Town lmao
Going underwater was last thing I expected from a Train Sim. Amazing.
Just take a sharp turn near a river too fast.
@@poilboiler How to turn your train into a submarine in a few easy steps 😂😂

I’m so ready. I’ve been expecting a lot but somehow this is even more impressive than I expected.
From what I'm seeing here, they have done an UNBELIEVABLE job, can't wait to play this new version of the game.
This looks breathtaking! You can just feel the passion and care that’s gone into this
That's some exclusive sighting for simulator, can't wait
I have bought this game a month ago and I am really enjoying it, favourite game of the year already
Depending on what they add/modify for new players, this could break their market wide open. So many train sim fans that none of the current sims can satisfy. This game seems like it can grow with you as a player.
Yea as much as I enjoy games like train sim world... they don't have the same feeling of immersion you get from Derail Jnct.
@@kuhndj67 That game is dead, this one actually seems to be fun.
Im so excited for the game! Cant wait to see more videos of the closed beta from you :)
Absolutely amazing! Looking forward to the next videos.
I can't wait for the rest of these vids, I joined the channel thanks to your series on this game, hope you're having a good day!
Can't wait for this update. It's already exceded my expectations from the first video. Looking forward to the rest.
Holy shit, this looks amazing! Can't wait for the release. It's awesome what Altfuture can do with so few people in the team! Congrats

AWESOME! only two years late and we still have 4 weeks to wait!
The devs probably have a busy life. And I’d rather have a finished product that’s enjoyable to play, rather than a bad rushed game full of bugs.

but that's the point, it's supposed to be twisty and Turney so that there's a very real risk of derailing if you aren't careful

holy shit, thats amazing!
that does look great. Might even pick it up. Does it still run in VR mode?
It's bad that derail valley simulator is looking better than the regular train simulator now
EXITED!!
What about the tree and Bushes do they still grow right next to the track and the limbs cut (Clip) through the train engine? I didn't like that.
Branches now bend and if you crash into the them they break
Can´t wait to the update
Hi all, why they named it Derail Valley? Does the train always derail / derailable in the sim?
Seems like it rains a bit much. But love the game!
