I just bought a Bosch 12 inch sliding miter and minus just a few features it does just about everything this saw does for less than half the price. Festool seriously needs to come out of the northern hemisphere with their prices.
Festool is for people who are willing to pay for quality. At least we have options. Most of their tools have unique features that are basically non existent in other tool manufacturer. I wish I could afford it myself.
@@Shapenupeugene festool, Bosch and a few other great tools are German, so the technolgy is similar and the quality is much the same. Festool is similar to Bosch Blue.
The top 3 criticisms I see about this saw are price, price, and price - if it does a better job (for its purposes, at least) then I want the best option. I found the Bosch to have a few arguably personal issues, and when testing one recently I had a friend with me who “didn’t like them” but kept finding things he didn’t realize it could do. I’m also already into the Festool ecosystem for a handful of products that have been game changers for me, so I’m already prepared for the price
First time I went to change the blade using the supplied tool, I found the blade was secured so tightly at the factory, the tool broke! And yes I turned clockwise! Other than that a great saw. Upgraded from the Dewalt 780
Went back and forth between mitre saws and ended up with makita 40v 12" mitre saw and I really like it , it's on the heavy side but it's very accurate out of the box , if festool wasn't so expensive I would've consider it, but can't justify the cost and it doesn't offer much than my makita exempt for 3 or 4 futures but I wasn't after that , overall if I choose again will be makita again
@Giuseppe castaldo kapex is undeniably a good tool but the price tag is very stiff and the tool has cutting capacity limitations, thats the reason I went with makita 40v 12" , but if your business can justify the price and suits your needs by all means go for the kapex , I own lots of festool tools and I am very satisfied and I enjoy using both of my dominoes the track saws vacuum and the sanders , they are second to none ,
Great review! Question though - I’ve noticed in your more recent videos that you’re using a Makita mitre saw. Did you move away from the Kapex, and if so, curious as to your experience.

I have the Kapex. One issue I have problems with is those rails. They restrict the height of the timber to be cut. This is much worse when you tip the blade over at 45. The guide rail also move down close to the table and it’s very restrictive.
Little late to the party but it really doesn't look like you are using that half degree mark properly. You went well past 19. You should go to the 20 with your middle mark then go till the half degree mark lines up with the next mark.
Exactly what I was going to say. The way he did it seemed like a 18.5 degree (as the half degree marks actually seem to be 1.5 degree from the main mark) and 20.5 would be getting the other half degree mark on 19 (so it is a one and a half degree MORE than 19).
When changing the saw blade that’s dial that locks the blade also isolates the power so the saw cannot turn on… can be used to kid/idiot proof your saw when not in use…

@ lastditch727 Well for one thing they’re expensive than most other miter saws and some guys wouldn’t want to take this saw to a job site to get abused by other workers knowing how expensive the thing is. I know I wouldn’t.
@1:33 you mention half degrees... I understand the half marks but when you adjust it to 20.5, your main center mark is actually on the 21.5 ish degree.... so which is it and why?
When they first came out they were 1200.00 now like 1800.00, having a hard time telling if 10 or 12 blade the adds dont tell you, looks like great saw i love festool tools but the price?
You just now buying and using one? I have had mine for 10 years. The best on the market! The best $1300.00 I ever spent, have not regretted it. Real carpenters use Festool . Next in line is the makitas.
@@nickmagma7745 yeah, you didn’t give it enough time. If you still like it, give it at least a week or two then return it if you still don’t like it. You’re not the only person who didn’t like the handle, at first.
@@AaronGeller when I was reaching, it felt like the tendon in my wrist which leads to my thumb was going to snap each time. So no, I won´t be trying it. Bosch has very good saws with a decent handle and I´m happy with my decision. Thanks for your concern tho
Please stop complaining about how expensive this saw is. If you can’t afford it then just don’t buy it. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you buy one. There are plenty of other saws on the market.

Has to be the best workshop mitre saw in the world. Most of my work is on-site, but I would love one of these in my workshop.

I want one but keep reading about the motors burning out shortly after warranty. My neighbor used to sell festool and he confirmed this as fact.
Yes its super expensive. But as all Festool machines, its an investment. But its bloody good. Makes other saws feel like toys.

12 inch Dewalt here. Can't afford a saw that cost more than a truck.
Been a production trim carpenter for 11 years now. I've yet to see one kapex on a jobsite. For me, I think that pistol grip would be a deal breaker.
